William crouched beside the downed Iron Man suit, his expression calm and curious. He placed one hand gently against the metallic chestplate, right over the glowing core.
"So, this is it," he muttered to himself, eyes reflecting the faint blue light. "The arc reactor... the heart of the machine."
Tony, still reeling from the damage, gasped and shouted, "How do you know about that? Who are you?!"
He couldn't comprehend how this man—this thing—seemed to understand everything about his technology, even the most classified elements. That knowledge wasn't supposed to exist outside Stark Industries.
William didn't answer the question. Instead, he moved with surgical precision, gripping the arc reactor. Sparks crackled as he wrenched it from the suit's chest, holding the glowing orb of energy up to the light like a precious gem. "Since the White Queen seems to have taken a liking to this little toy," he said, admiring it, "I think I'll give it to her. Let's see what she can do with it."
With the arc reactor removed, Tony's suit powered down instantly. The glowing lights along the suit dimmed and died, leaving him completely vulnerable inside the heavy armor.
Tony looked up at William from the ground, his voice strained but defiant. "William... I'll remember you. And next year, I'll light a candle in your name."
Then, with a grunt, he rolled over and turned his back toward the enemy, seemingly accepting defeat—but his fingers subtly tapped a hidden control panel in the gauntlet.
William's gaze sharpened. Before he could react—
Boom!
A sudden, thunderous explosion erupted behind him. A missile, fired from a hidden launcher, struck directly where he stood. The force of the blast sent waves of heat and flame across the area, shattering nearby windows and throwing debris in all directions.
Tony, propelled by the shockwave, was flung backward. He tumbled across the ruined ground, his armor sparking and battered, but miraculously intact.
Panting, he rose to his feet and stared into the smoke-filled crater where William had stood. "That should do it," he muttered. "You were impressive—but I wonder... was that dramatic enough for you?"
The dust and fire settled.
From within the crater, a figure moved.
William stood up slowly, his chest marred by a gruesome, bloody hole—but he was still very much alive. Too alive.
Tony's eyes widened. "No... that's not possible. You should be dead. Nothing could survive that."
"There's no such thing as impossible," William said calmly. The hole in his chest began to close, flesh knitting itself back together as though time were rewinding. In seconds, he stood unscathed, his smirk returning.
Boom!
Another missile came screaming toward him.
William's figure blurred—then vanished.
High above, in a circling helicopter, the pilot scanned the ground with confusion. "Where did he go? We had him in our sights!"
"Looking for me?" a cold voice whispered from behind.
The pilot and co-pilot spun around, eyes wide with horror. William hovered there in the cramped cockpit, both fists clenched.
Crash!
With two swift punches, he launched them both out of the helicopter, their screams trailing behind them as they fell.
William slid into the pilot's seat, coolly taking the controls. Through the windshield, the sprawling Stark Expo grounds came into view—crowded, chaotic, and vulnerable.
Without hesitation, he pressed a flashing red button like a child.
Boom! Boom!
Twin missiles launched, streaking toward the exhibition building.
They struck with cataclysmic force. The structure erupted in flames and debris, panels and beams flying through the air as people screamed and fled in terror. The once-glorious Stark Expo was now a war zone.
Tony could only watch in horror as his legacy, his inventions, and innocent lives crumbled before his eyes. His hands clenched into fists. "William... I swear I'll destroy you. I'll drag you into the deepest pit of hell."
Just then, a sleek green supercar screeched to a halt beside him. The doors opened, and three striking figures stepped out—White Queen, Alice, and Ada, all calm and composed amid the chaos.
Tony turned to them suspiciously. "Who the hell are you?"
White Queen tilted her head and asked, "You want to kill William?"
His glare hardened. "You know him? Then you're with him."
She laughed lightly. "So many people want to kill William. You're not the first, and you won't be the last. But let's be honest—you're dreaming if you think you'll succeed. You've seen what he's capable of. Compared to him, you're like a child playing at war."
Alice crossed her arms and added, her tone scornful, "Everything you've built... all of it... will be stripped away. Piece by piece. William doesn't destroy quickly—he enjoys it."
Ada leaned in with a wicked smile. "He won't take it all at once. That would be boring. He'll break you slowly. Deliberately."
Tony's pride burned. The Iron Man suit had made him feel invincible. He had defeated armies, toppled regimes, and stared death in the face. But now, these three women looked at him as though he were already defeated. He clenched his teeth and spat, "You think I'll stand by and let this happen? I'll tear your monster apart with my own hands. You'll see. I'll be the one to end him."
White Queen turned toward the car and smiled over her shoulder. "Then we'll be watching. I hope you enjoy that one-in-ten-thousand chance."
The three of them entered the car and drove away, leaving Tony standing alone amid the ruins—bruised, humiliated, and burning with vengeance.
Tony stared at the green sports car disappearing into the distance, its taillights flickering like the eyes of a demon. His fists tightened, rage and frustration boiling within him.
"You will pay for this. I swear... you'll pay a heavy price," he muttered through clenched teeth.
Boom, boom, boom...
Missiles continued raining down, and the once-proud venue of the Stark Industrial Expo—Howard Stark's legacy and dream—was consumed in fire and destruction. The polished glass and steel structures were reduced to scorched rubble. Flames licked the sky as black smoke coiled like serpents above the devastated ground.
From high above, William leapt out of the helicopter like a shadow of doom. The pilotless aircraft spiraled, losing control, and crashed violently into the panicked crowd below.
Boom!
A deafening explosion shook the area. The shockwave shattered nearby windows. The force hurled bodies into the air, some landing dozens of feet away, others lost in the chaos of fire and smoke. Screams echoed across the ruins, merging with the sound of crumbling metal and shattering glass.
Emergency sirens began wailing as police cruisers and firetrucks flooded into the area. New York City, the city that never sleeps, was about to experience one of its most terrifying nights.
Among the chaos, Tony locked eyes with the man responsible. "William."
William smiled, amused. "Good eyes. You've got a spark—more charm than your father had, I'll admit. Honestly, you should count yourself lucky. During World War II, I missed killing your father by a single punch. If I hadn't... well, you wouldn't be standing here now."
Tony's breath caught in his throat. "World War II...? William, you... you were there?"
William's smirk widened. "Ah, it seems after I vanished, the world tried to write me into history. I wonder... How did they portray me? Some tragic monster? A devil in human skin? A nameless force of destruction?" He laughed, a dark, echoing laugh. "I'm curious how far the legends have stretched."
With that, his figure dissolved into thin air—gone in a blink.
Tony stood rooted in place, mind spinning. "There's no mistake... that was the same William from World War II." His heart pounded as fury swelled. "I'll make sure history doesn't repeat itself. Not this time."
---
Inside the sleek green supercar, the mood was oddly casual despite the chaos they had left behind.
"You seemed to really enjoy yourself back there," Alice said, looking out the window at the distant glow of the flames. "The Stark Industrial Expo—reduced to ashes. So many people dead... tsk, tsk. I'll admit, even for me, it leaves a bitter aftertaste. I'm still technically American, you know. My conscience isn't completely dead."
Ada scoffed from the passenger seat, unconcerned. "I've lost count of how many I've killed. Whether it's one or a hundred, blood is blood."
In the back seat, the White Queen turned the arc reactor over in her hands, her eyes glowing faintly with analysis. "I've already grasped the structure. This thing... primitive, but elegant. With the right materials, I could replicate one easily—stronger, more efficient, more stable."
"White Queen," William said calmly from beside her, "connect to the networks of this world. Search for everything you can find about me during World War II. I want to know how deep the scars go."
"Curious about your own legend?" Alice teased with a sly grin. "Seems like you left a bigger mark on this world than we thought."
Ada leaned back with her arms crossed. "Let me guess. You're probably seen as some kind of apocalyptic villain—someone even worse than Hitler."
White Queen's pupils shrank as streams of data flashed across her retinas. "Correction: far worse than Hitler. In a global BBC survey conducted in the year 2000, aiming to identify the most hated figures of the 20th century, you were voted the greatest villain—by a landslide. Over one hundred million more votes than Hitler, who placed second."
Ada blinked, stunned. "One hundred million more? What the hell did you do?"
White Queen began reading off the summarized data. "You were a leading figure in Hydra during the war. You spearheaded mass destruction across Europe, personally ordered the bombings of multiple capital cities. You kidnapped Einstein and several renowned scientific minds. You detonated a prototype atomic bomb over Tokyo, igniting an early Pacific conflict between the United States and Japan—resulting in over ten million casualties. You orchestrated a clandestine war that pitted Nazi Germany, the Hydra Legion, the Allied Forces, and the Soviet Union into a four-way conflict. The consequences were incalculable. Entire generations were erased in the chaos you sowed."
Alice let out a low whistle. "Wow. That's... impressive in the most horrifying way."
White Queen sighed theatrically, still scanning. "And that's just the top-level summary. If I read the full list, we'd need a week. Even the historians ran out of adjectives by the end."
"Infamous for a thousand years, huh?" William leaned back, eyes distant. "They really never forget."
Ada shook her head slowly. "You weren't a villain... You were the war."
