Chapter 126

On the vast square of massive bluestones, Lu Xuan squinted, gazing up at the towering stone sword that reached a hundred zhang high.

"It's been three months since I last saw it," he mused inwardly, retracting his gaze.

The hundred-zhang stone sword stood as the typical landmark of Jianmen Town. Lu Xuan recalled his initial awe upon seeing it when he had just disembarked from the Wanxiang Ship.

Now, three months later, returning as an Outer Disciple of the Sky Sword Sect, his perspective on the sword had shifted.

Since entering the Sky Sword Sect, he had stayed within the sect and hadn't ventured to explore nearby Jianmen Town or any secret realms.

Thus, the diverse passersby on the streets gave him a slight sense of unreality.

As he proceeded deeper, the streets grew wider, lined with an increasing number of shops.

Being near the Sky Sword Sect, Lu Xuan didn't bother with much disguise, donning the standard cyan robe of the sect, with a black small sword engraved on the cuff, adding a touch of distinction.

Surveying the numerous shops that crowded the street, he eventually opted for the familiar Wanbao Tower.

Upon entering the ground floor hall, a refined female cultivator approached.

Seeing Lu Xuan in the sect's standard attire, her eyes held a barely perceptible respect.

"Elder, may I assist you in any way?" asked the refined female cultivator, with utmost deference.

"I'd like to sell some spirit plants. I have a large quantity of Firefly Grass and a few rare secondary-grade spirit plants. Please find someone in charge," Lu Xuan replied.

The refined female cultivator nodded and soon brought an Intermediate Qi cultivator over.

"I pay my respects, young master. May I know how I should address you?" the elder greeted respectfully.

"No need for formalities. Just call me Lu Xuan," he replied with a smile.

"Ah, so you are Lu Xuan. Do you have any spirit plants for sale?" the elder inquired.

"I have numerous top-quality Firefly Grass and a few secondary-grade spirit plants," Lu Xuan replied, retrieving over a hundred and fifty mature Firefly Grass from his storage pouch.

"Excellent quality. There's even a perfectly pristine Firefly Grass." The elder marveled at the quality of the Firefly Grass, expressing surprise.

"To have such high-quality spirit plants is impressive," he exclaimed, noting that among every four or five Firefly Grass, one was of perfect quality, with the majority being top-quality. Such a high yield of high-quality plants left him astonished.

"Being able to cultivate such quality spirit plants, Lu Xuan, you truly live up to your prestigious background," he praised.

"It's mainly due to the spiritual essence within the sect suitable for the growth of spirit plants," Lu Xuan modestly remarked.

The elder quickly assessed the value of the hundred and fifty Firefly Grass at five hundred and eighty spirit stones, nearly four spirit stones per plant on average. Finding the price reasonable, Lu Xuan agreed without much consideration.

"I also have a few leaves of secondary-grade Clear Spirit Tea. How much would you offer?" Lu Xuan inquired, taking out two fragrant Clear Spirit Tea leaves from his storage pouch.

"Oh? Are these the ones that clear the mind and provide some defense against evil spirits to some extent?" The elder's eyes widened, deeply inhaling the aroma of the tea leaves, appearing enraptured.

"Smelling it clears one's mind and refreshes the spirit. Truly a precious item!" he exclaimed. "Of excellent quality, which is rare among secondary-grade spirit plants."

Lu Xuan nodded. Out of seventeen Clear Spirit Tea leaves he had, eleven were of good quality, and six were of top quality. The two he presented were of good quality.

"Ordinarily, we purchase ordinary Clear Spirit Tea at eighty spirit stones per leaf. As for the good quality ones you have, I can purchase them at a hundred spirit stones per leaf," the elder stated.

Lu Xuan pondered silently.

Among items of the same grade, such as spirit plants, ores, or materials from demonic beasts, the prices were relatively low. Considering Wanbao Tower's reputation for fair transactions, the price seemed reasonable.

"That's acceptable," Lu Xuan agreed.

The elder handed Lu Xuan a pouch filled with the agreed-upon amount of spirit stones, wearing a beaming smile.

"Do you happen to have any other secondary-grade spirit plants similar to Clear Spirit Tea?" the elder inquired.

Lu Xuan shook his head. "If I do, I'll consider Wanbao Tower first." He intended to use the remaining Clear Spirit Tea leaves and Dark Marrow Fungus as chips for future exchanges among sect disciples, without rushing to sell them.

"By the way, do you have any artifacts in Wanbao Tower related to resentful spirits and grievances?" he asked, thinking of the Ghost-Faced Stone Mushroom he kept in his storage pouch, wondering if he could find resentful spirits here and try awakening them for cultivation.

"Artifacts related to resentful spirits and grievances? Those are quite rare," the elder remarked. "These items are usually crafted through sinister and malicious means, causing harm to both the heavens and people. Often, only those wantonly reckless demonic cultivators would refine such artifacts."

"However, Lu Xuan, you're in luck. We happen to have a secondary-grade artifact related to resentful spirits."

"Really? Kindly show it to me," Lu Xuan expressed his curiosity.

He followed the elder to a special counter.

Inside the counter were peculiar objects of various shapes, exuding a chilling aura that clearly indicated they weren't ordinary items.

High-level cultivators guarded the area, attesting to the high value of the special counter's contents.

The elder retrieved a weathered bell from the counter. Its surface bore intricate and eerie patterns. As the bell rang, resentful spirits emerged silently from the surface's patterns, wailing in silent agony.

"The Resentful Soul Bell, a secondary-grade artifact that confines hundreds or even thousands of resentful spirits."

"When you ring the bell, it can launch a mental attack on a single target or a fan-shaped area. It can also command the resentful spirits within to attack cultivators," the elder elaborated to Lu Xuan.

Lu Xuan accepted the worn-looking Resentful Soul Bell, made of some unknown material exuding a chilling aura when held.

Through the inner wall of the bell, he could see hundreds or thousands of nearly translucent resentful spirits crowded together.

Sensing Lu Xuan's gaze, all the resentful spirits instantly stirred, turning to look at him in unison, creating a bizarre and inexplicable scene.

"With this many resentful spirits, it shouldn't be a problem to awaken the Ghost-Faced Stone Mushroom and perhaps cultivate them for a while," Lu Xuan thought contentedly.

"Well, I'm quite satisfied with this Resentful Soul Bell. How many spirit stones for it?" he inquired.

"If you desire it, two hundred and thirty spirit stones," the elder proposed.

Lu Xuan nodded. He wasn't particularly interested in the artifact itself but rather in the multitude of resentful spirits within. With them, he could awaken the slumbering third-grade Ghost-Faced Stone Mushroom. Two hundred and thirty spirit stones saved him the trouble of searching for resentful spirits himself.

He knew that finding such artifacts near the Sky Sword Sect was extremely difficult, so he readily agreed.

"Deal."
