55 -55: Past Life Resentment, Making a Clean Break

Qin Anmin, the elder brother of the Qin Group’s chairman, Qin Anguo.

He’s also the elder uncle to Qin Jingcen, Qin Mei, and Qin Ruan.

Han Xian has long been in league with him.

Upon hearing the indulgent tone on the phone, her face turned grim and her voice bitter, “Lock Qin Ruan up.

Both Qin Anguo and Qin Jingcen are out of the country.

It should be easy to control her now.”

Her daughter’s reputation was ruined and she’ll make sure Qin Ruan is not left unscathed either.

No matter if Qin Ruan was the cause of the scandal or not.

As long as she remained free, it was an eyesore.

“Okay, I’ll arrange it,”

Han Xian’s voice softened considerably, “Thank you, Brother Min.”

On Monday, while Qin Ruan was at school, her eyelid twitched all day.

However, it calmed down by evening.

The sensational news was still trending online.

Some tried to take it down with money but to no avail.

The flame of the scandal was only fanned higher.

The vastness of the internet means that almost nobody was unaware of it.

Han Xian and Han Kexin must know about it by now.

Will they be on the verge of a meltdown?

How will they strategize behind the scenes?

Qin Ruan was unafraid and was prepared for their eventual confrontation.

The time had come to settle all past and present grudges once and for all.

That night, Qin Ruan lied in her dorm bed and quickly fell into a deep sleep.

But her sleep was restless.

She dreamt of the night at the Imperial Court Hotel.

That night, Han Kexin had something to give her – a cheap round jade pendant that she had lost.

During her 18 years in West City, Qin Ruan had been part of a small group.

They each carried a round jade pendant as their symbol.

The missing round jade had a significant meaning to Qin Ruan.

Knowing it was with Han Kexin, she agreed to meet up.

Little did she know, it was a party that Han Kexin was hosting.

To get the pendant back, she accepted the drink offered to her.

She had drunk a lot in West City and had a decent tolerance for alcohol, but this drink knocked her out.

Right before she blacked out, she bit her tongue and forced herself to stay conscious.

Too weak to resist, she was carried into a room.

Realizing Han Kexin’s intentions, Qin Ruan stumbles out of the room after Han Kexin had left.

Feeling disoriented, she stumbled into another room.

Then…

A blurry face appeared in her vision.

She could not discern his expression.

The man smelled good, and she couldn’t resist but to move closer to him.

Feeling weak and vulnerable, she lost control and went towards him.

He didn’t reject her, but instead held her, enabling her to breathe in his scent.

A pair of hands gripping onto her waist.

She knew from the strength of his grip and his vague features that he was a man.

With one slight lift from him, she fell into his arms.

She thought that his comforting scent would clear her mind.

However, the closer they got, the more she lost control and sank from consciousness.

Her mind was telling her to leave, but her body wouldn’t respond.

Her emotions were uncontrollable, she was losing willpower.

She was defeated without a fight, utterly.

“Who are you?”

A cold, deep voice sounded in her ears.

The voice was tantalizing, bringing comfort, as if a spring breeze.

Qin Ruan wanted to respond, but couldn’t utter a word.

Instead, she buried herself deeper into his embrace.

She felt something near her neck, a warm breath against her skin.

“You smell really good,” he was smelling her scent.

His voice was so pleasing, and Qin Ruan tightened her grip on his clothes, fearful of slipping.

Both of them were panting, stumbling around the room before eventually making their way to the only resting place in the room.
