Young Noble Be Monster Slaying-Chapter 887: Cant Kill Them All, Absolutely Cant! (I)
Chapter 887: Can't Kill Them All, Absolutely Can't! (I)
"Divine Oneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"
The Great High Priest cried out in anguish the moment Tuntun's eyes opened. He instinctively dropped to his knees in reverence, though his face already showed the look of quiet resignation.
He knew better than anyone where he stood in the Demon God's heart. Compared to Chu Liang, his worth was like the glow of a dung beetle beside the sun. And everyone knew dung beetles didn't shine.
As expected, Tuntun's gaze locked first onto the golden fried chicken leg, then onto Chu Liang. Her face lit up with surprise and joy. "Eh?"
Although she had gained a lot more divine intelligence, her speech capabilities remained limited. Perhaps it was because none of the demons dared to speak to her casually.
Chu Liang had already guessed that the demon kings wouldn't inform Tuntun of his arrival, so he didn't bring it up. Instead, he simply smiled and asked, "Hungry?"
"Mhm!" Tuntun nodded vigorously.
At some point, the golden chicken leg in Chu Liang's hand had already ended up in hers.
"Heheh." Chu Liang chuckled and made his way toward the altar.
"Insolence!" the Great High Priest cried out as he lifted his head. "That is the sacred platform! No mortal is permitted to set foot on the divine platform!"
Chu Liang turned to Tuntun and asked, "Tuntun, can I step on this platform?"
"Step!" Tuntun nodded again.
Chu Liang climbed onto the altar and walked straight to the throne. Without pausing, he sat down.
The Great High Priest's eyes bulged so wide that it looked as though they could burst from their sockets at any moment. He scolded loudly, "How dare you! That is the throne of our god! The divine throne is no seat for the lowly!"
Chu Liang didn't bother to cast a glance at the Great High Priest. Once again, he asked, "Tuntun, can I sit in this chair?"
"Sit!" Tuntun nodded once more.
"Divine One..."
The Great High Priest was on the verge of tears. Chu Liang was openly violating the sanctity of the divine temple with shameless confidence. Every fiber of his being urged him to strike the human down in the name of the god. Yet, he could only stand there and watch helplessly as this human casually seated himself on the throne and pulled out a whole bundle of deep-fried snacks.
He could only curse himself inwardly for failing to guard the Mountain Range of the Seven Kings more tightly. Overwhelmed by grief and rage, he let out a broken cry, "I am guilty!"
Meanwhile, the girl on the throne was already sitting beside him, swinging her legs and cheerfully unwrapping the snacks Chu Liang had brought. Her eyes sparkled as she picked through the paper wraps, delighted by the variety of golden, crispy treats.
When it came to junk food, the roadside stalls of Yu’s capital were millennia ahead of anything the demons could offer.
"Of course you're guilty," Chu Liang scolded. "Can't you see how much our divine Demon God is starving? And you still thought you had the right to stop me from coming up here?"
The Great High Priest trembled as he watched Chu Liang swagger about under the protection of the Demon God. His blood pressure surged, and he nearly fainted from sheer rage.
But he didn't dare provoke his god, so he swallowed his fury and shouted toward the sky, "Fellow demon kings, assemble immediately at the Mountain Range of the Seven Kings!"
The sound wave rippled through the mountain range, echoing from peak to peak until it reached the ears of the various demon kings.
Chu Liang let out a light chuckle. "Perfect timing. I think it's about time the peace talks between the humans and the demons began."
He took out his Circle of Immortal Friends Token and sent a message to Lin Bei and the others, calling the human envoys to ascend the Mountain Range of the Seven Kings.
The Great High Priest's expression turned to ice. "If this is truly a negotiation, then release the Demon God first. We will speak elsewhere."
"If we're negotiating, then it has to be with the Demon God herself," Chu Liang said with a cheerful smile. He handed Tuntun a box of fried meatballs. "Tuntun, you've never had meatballs before, right? Would you be willing to trade the Western Regions for them?"
"Okay." Tuntun nodded without hesitation. She had no idea what the Western Regions were, but the meatballs smelled amazing.
"Chu Liang, don't take things too far!" the Great High Priest roared. "Our terms were already generous. How dare you deceive the Demon God!"
"Great High Priest, there's no need to get so worked up," Chu Liang said with a grin, waving his hand. "Tuntun and I are very close. Of course, I wouldn't take advantage of her. We can't let the demon race have the Western Regions, but we're still willing to offer you a good piece of land. That's something we can take our time to discuss."
He continued, "For example, I know of a group of islands off the East Sea. All of them combined are larger than an entire province. Not long ago, they were considered blessed lands, and they're still rich in spiritual qi. That archipelago would be a perfect new home for the demon race."
...
Some time before the Great High Priest's call echoed across the mountains, chaos had already erupted atop the Mountain Range of the Seven Kings.
When the White King Xiao was struck by the razor-feather, he thought his life had come to an end. Fortunately, the transcendent form he had cultivated over the years was powerful enough. His entire body flashed with white light and instantly became transparent.
Yet, to his surprise, the power of an eighth-realm existence could ignore his divine ability to a certain extent. The black-flame feather exploded the moment it passed through his intangible form, and the fierce black flames instantly engulfed him.
Fortunately, his divine ability had neutralized the piercing force, allowing him to evade the most lethal aspect of the Great Dao of Piercing Slaughter. He avoided the deadliest part of the Black Golden Crow's attack, but the flames that accompanied the strike had still nearly taken his life.
After the violent blast, the White King Xiao was sent flying more than a hundred zhang before crashing into a rock wall with a heavy thud. His vision spun, and he collapsed on the ground, barely conscious and completely unable to move.
Just as he thought he would die as Chu Liang's unlucky scapegoat, a sudden force lifted him from the ground. A powerful whirlwind surged beneath him, sweeping him up and carrying him away in a rush of wind.
"Huh?"
The White King Xiao was completely baffled. As far as he knew, his only ally in this world had died long ago. So who could possibly be saving him now?
Moments later, the whirlwind faded, and he found himself staring at a calm, expressionless face.
It was Xiao Wuyin.
It turned out that when the Celestial Master sensed something was wrong atop the Mountain Range of the Seven Kings and prepared to retreat, Xiao Wuyin had chosen to stay behind under the pretense of searching for her sister.
However, she had stayed not just for Xiao Wuyan. She also stayed for Chu Liang.
Although Chu Liang had played a major role in sending her to the Celestial Northern Prison back then, she now wished to walk the path of the righteous. She no longer wanted her sister to stand against the orthodox sects.
More importantly, she understood the state of the world. The human race was already on the brink of collapse, surrounded by growing threats on all sides. Chu Liang was one of the few remaining hopes for humanity. Killing him now would be unforgivable.
So after parting ways with the Celestial Master, she remained on the mountain and searched for both Chu Liang and her sister, hoping to get them out safely.
But before she could go far, she saw the Black Golden Crow launch a brutal attack on Chu Liang.
From what Xiao Wuyin knew, there were currently three Chu Liangs on the mountain—one was the real Chu Liang, one was her sister in disguise, and the third was the fox demon king, Caiyi.
The person currently being targeted couldn't be her sister. And since the demons were all on the same side, the Black Golden Crow would never attack the fox demon king, especially when the cultivation level didn't match.
That left only one possibility. The person under attack had to be the real Chu Liang.
So when "Chu Liang" was gravely injured, Xiao Wuyin didn't hesitate. Even with the pressure of an eighth-realm demon king bearing down on her, she made the decision to step in and save him.
After fleeing for some distance and confirming that the Black Golden Crow wasn't pursuing, she finally set him down.
"Young Hero Chu, your injuries are severe," Xiao Wuyin said softly after she lowered White King Xiao to the ground.
"Ah..."
The White King Xiao instantly realized she had mistaken him for that scourge who had committed far too many evil deeds—Chu Liang. He opened his mouth, unsure of what to say.
After stammering twice, he gave up and let out a helpless grunt. "Yes!"
Xiao Wuyin then said, "I have a salve for external injuries. It's very effective."
She handed him a small white jar, something the Celestial Master had given them recently, and continued explaining. "This salve is refined from the flesh and bones of a spirit creature called the Human-Faced Xiao. It is especially effective at mending damaged limbs. Apply it quickly."
"What the f—" The White King Xiao almost cursed on the spot. He had no feeling of gratitude at all. He quickly bit down on his tongue and forced his words into something else. "What force... what frightening strength. I didn't expect that demon king to be so strong."
Xiao Wuyin rose to her feet and said in a hurry, "Indeed. You are usually very eloquent, but now you've been beaten so badly that you can barely speak. I'll go out and draw the demon king away. You focus on healing."
With that, she transformed into Chu Liang as well.
"What the f—" The White King Xiao was so stunned that his thoughts spun out of control. So I'm not the only one who can do this? How did I end up running into someone in the same profession?
Xiao Wuyin cast him a skeptical glance.
The White King Xiao quickly forced down his shock and muttered, "W-what do you think if I just lie in the grass for a while and keep a low profile? Thank you for saving me."
Xiao Wuyin shook her head. "No need to thank me. Consider it penance. I only ask that, if fate allows, you look after my child and help guide him away from the wrong path."
"Of course..." the White King Xiao nodded solemnly.
I have absolutely no idea who your kid is, he thought. But if it helps, I've got no problem calling you Mother.
