“Aunt, let’s go in,” Qiao Mei said sulkily.
Xia Fang asked the nurse to bring over a wheelchair. Qiao Mei had many checkups to do today, so it was more convenient to use the wheelchair. The bodyguard walked in front as he pushed the wheelchair with Qiao Mei in it. Xia Fang quickly pulled Xia He to her side and asked, “What’s wrong with Qiao Mei? Is she feeling unwell?”
“She hasn’t been sleeping well recently because of the pregnancy yet I still woke her up so early this morning. It’s nothing, she’ll be fine in a while,” Xia He said.
They used the VIP route for which they paid fees which were 30% more expensive than normal. This caught the attention of some people who were there to see the doctor.
A man had been watching them for a while. He and his wife had come to queue up before dawn today in the hope of being able to do the checkup sooner. However, after waiting for more than two hours, it was still not their turn yet. He wondered why Qiao Mei could go in directly without queuing.
“Dear, wait for me here. I’ll go take a look in front.” After covering his wife with a blanket, the man came near to Qiao Mei’s group.
The bodyguard immediately noticed this suspicious-looking man and said fiercely, “Sir, this is a private route. Please go back to the queue and don’t come so close to us.”
“This hospital is so big. Why can’t I stand here? Does your family own this road?” the man asked with a frown.
The bodyguard felt that this person would pose a threat to Qiao Mei and hurriedly wheeled her into the room. The moment he saw Qiao Mei going in, the man’s anger instantly erupted.
“What right does she have to go in! What’s her basis for going in! Why doesn’t she need to queue up? We came to queue early in the morning and we are not able to enter yet. How can she go for her checkup right away! Ask her to come out!” the man shouted agitatedly.
The entire lobby echoed with the man’s shouts. The nurse hurriedly went forward to pacify him and said, “Sir, please don’t speak so loudly. If there’s any issue, we can discuss it at one side. This is the obstetrics and gynecology department and many of our patients are pregnant women. I hope you can be considerate of the other patients.”
“Be considerate of them? Then who will be considerate of us! My wife and I came to queue at your hospital before dawn! How does the hospital treat us! It’s not our turn for a checkup yet even after we queue up for so long, so how can that woman just go in directly! The hospital must give us a reasonable explanation! Give all of us an explanation!” the man shouted.
His words attracted many people who had the same experience as him. Many people started to gather around to speak up for the man. The nurse really could not handle so many people at the same time and quickly went to ask the security officers to come and maintain order.
Xia He and Xia Fang were speaking with the doctor who did Qiao Mei’s first checkup. To save time, Xia Fang had asked the two bodyguards to bring Qiao Mei to proceed with the next checkup. She did not expect the incident to blow up.
As soon as they heard the commotion outside, they quickly rushed over. Seeing that a group of men was about to rush into the consultation room, the two bodyguards desperately tried to block their way.
“Why are you shouting! This is the hospital!” Xia Fang ran over and said.
“Who do you think you are! Leave us alone! We want an explanation today!” the man shouted.
The people around him shouted in unison, “That’s right! Give us an explanation!”
Xia He stood in front of Xia Fang and tried her best to keep a distance between the crowd and Xia Fang. Soon, the security officers arrived at the scene and surrounded these troublemakers. After confirming that the situation was safe, Xia Fang took a few steps forward to communicate with them.
“Why are you causing trouble?” Xia Fang asked.
Xia Fang took out her employment pass from her pocket and said, “I’m the chief of the obstetrics and gynecology department here. You can speak to me.”
The man pointed at Xia Fang and questioned, “What’s your relationship with the woman in the room! Why aren’t you wearing your white coat while you’re in the hospital! Did you help her get in through the back door! So that she can go for a checkup without queuing up!”
Xia Fang did not panic at all. She looked at the man calmly and said, “I’m her aunt. It’s my day off today. Don’t I have the right to accompany my family members for a checkup? Also, we are using the VIP route, not getting in through the back door like you mentioned!”
