To protect herself from the wave of trees and rocks coming towards her, Evelyn dissipated the gravity tethers she had attached to them.

Then she drew forth all of the magic energy she could to create a massive tornado in front of her and lessen the effects of gravity on the incoming debris.

Caught in the vortex Evelyn had created, the normally heavy stones and foliage lifted up into the air like ballons and went flying high into the sky.

Once they escaped the confines of Evelyn's magic far above, the normal gravity of the world took ahold of them, and they came falling back to earth.

"Your magic really is impressive. I still don't fully understand some of it, but your use of wind was exemplary." The Deamhain Sect executive said while clapping his hands in an exaggerated manner.

Even though Evelyn had been taking their fight seriously and coming at him to kill, he was treating everything like some sort of show for his amusement. Not once did he consider Evelyn a legitimate threat.

"I'll make you regret taking me so lightly."

Evelyn whipped her body around with crimson fire erupting from both of her hands. She intended to blast the man with her heavenly flame, or at the very least force him to back away.

Yet, before she could fully turn to face him, a powerful impact connected with her back, and she was sent flying.

For a few moments Evelyn had completely lost her bearings and skipped across the ground like a flat stone over water.

She ran into both trees and rocks multiple times and smashed right through them. The force with which she had been hit was unable to be stopped.

Eventually Evelyn regained enough wherewithal to conjure up a wall of wind to slow herself down.

When she finally got back on her feet, she coughed up a mouthful of blood and a terrible sting in her back made her wince.

"All he did was kick me." Evelyn grumbled, shocked by how badly she had been injured by a single attack.

She had not even been able to react. Her foe had suddenly seemed to appear right behind her and casually planted his foot into her back.

Still, this was far from enough to bring her down. In comparison to the worst she had ever taken, this could hardly be considered a scratch.

"Oh ho! You humanoid beasts are really sturdy. If I kicked one of my low tier arcanist subordinates like that, they would be down for the count."

Having easily kept up with Evelyn as she was blown away, the man, now relaxedly sitting atop an especially large boulder was glancing down at Evelyn with an amused expression. As if he had just discovered that the toy he was playing with could take more of a beating than expected.

'Don't let him get to you. Stay focused.' Evelyn thought, tuning the man out and instead focusing on how to deal with him.

All he had was insane speed. After already giving it her best shot, she knew that attacking him directly was unlikely to work. She simply could not catch him.

That left her with only one real option. To try and land a counter when he attacked. That would be the only time he came close enough to her to get in a strike.

'Feel the wind. No matter how fast he is, he still has to travel through the air.'

Evelyn concentrated solely on her wind magic to perceive the man's presence. The instant he moved, she would know.

"Give up, did ya? It's no fun if you just stand there like a statue. How about you send some more objects flying towards me. I'll make sure to dodge them with even less room to maneuver this time." The Deamhain Executive said as if trying to entice a reluctant friend to play a game.

Of course, Evelyn refused to entertain him. Keeping her current position was to her advantage. Even if the man did not try and attack her again, soon enough her friends would be along.

"Fine. I guess I'll just have to see how much you can take instead."

Seeing that Evelyn was no longer going to entertain him with her unusual magic, the man shot towards her with blistering speed.

There was hardly a fraction of a second for Evelyn to respond, but she had been keeping tabs on her enemy's movements with her wind magic and already envisioned what she would do when he attacked.

Instinctively she read the trajectory of the kick coming towards her and put both of her arms up to guard her head.

The blow merely looked like a blur to her, but the sting she felt as the man's leg connected with her arms told her that she had managed to block.

However, the impact was too powerful for her to stay on her feet. Again, she went flying through the air uncontrollably.

Except, this time, she had left a parting gift for her attacker.

A small orb of compressed flames had been hidden under her foot, and the moment she was launched away from it, the magic that had been restraining the spell faded away.

"BOOM!"

Without warning a powerful explosion of fire erupted from where Evelyn had been just a moment ago. It was like a miniature sun had just appeared.

Even beyond the confines of the blast, the intense heat was strong enough to catch the surrounding grass and bushes on fire.

Evelyn had truly packed all of the power she could currently muster into the flames she had left behind.

"Damn this hurts." Evelyn groaned, rubbing her injured arms.

The forward one had snapped, while the one she used as a brace had a large bruise on it. Had she still been human, both of these wounds would have been quite severe. Thankfully, as a tyrant beast, she possessed impeccable vitality, and the damage she had suffered was already beginning to visibly repair itself.

Not sure how much time she had to recuperate, Evelyn grabbed a healing potion from her storage magic tool.

She was about to down the liquid in a single gulp when the vial vanished from her hands.

"That was a nasty little surprise you left for me. You ruined my hair."

Stunned, Evelyn stared in horror at the Deamhain Sect executive. She had not even realized that he was in front of her until he spoke up.

In one of his hands was the healing potion she was about to drink, and as she looked upwards, she noticed that a few locks of his hair were blackened at the tip.

'That's all my attack did' Evelyn thought in astonishment.

Her desperate counterattack had only managed to burn a small portion of her opponent's hair. The speed he had previously shown her was obviously far from his best. He was so much faster than her that it seemed impossible to keep up with him.

Knowing she was outmatched, Evelyn made to conjure a barrier of wind and flames around her.

The moment her magic began to manifest, the man made his move.

He was imperceptibly fast and delivered a devastating punch to Evelyn's stomach. She reeled backwards and spit out bile and blood thanks to the vicious strike.

Before she could hope to recovery, the man attacked again.

This time he kicked her hard in the side and sent her flying once again.

Repeatedly the Deamhain Sect Executive dashed around and pummeled Evelyn. Every hit came so fast and was so powerful she could not concentrate long enough to conjure any magic. All she could do was pull herself into a ball and try to weather the storm of blows.

"I've grown tired of this. I'll bind you and then go after your friends."

From out of one of his storage rings, the man pulled out a long chain with magic runes inscribed on it. These would serve to suppress Evelyn's magic and paralyze her.

'Get up! I still have to fight!' Evelyn internally screamed.

Sadly, her battered body would not listen to her commands. Try as she might to get it to move, all she could do was twitch.

In several places her bones had been shattered, and her organs ruptured. The only thing keeping her alive was the powerful lifeforce her body possessed.

"Woah there!"

When he was just a couple meters away from Evelyn, the Deamhain Sect Executive jumped backwards and put some distance between them.

A second later, a blast of cold covered the space he had been in, and a large, spiked dome of ice protectively formed around Evelyn.

"I won't let you touch her." Bylur yelled.

With a rage induced burst of magic energy, je sent a blizzard of razor-sharp ice shards towards the man that had hurt the one he loved.

This attack, while ferocious and covering a large area, still failed to reach its target.

The Deamhain Sect Executive simply dashed around and avoided it with ease.

Nevertheless, Bylur's assault was only meant to push the man away from Evelyn and lead him towards where the real attack would come from.

Clad in blinging light, a massive wolf standing over four meters tall bounded out of the nearby woods.

Lucia, now in her full bestial form, opened her mouth and released a massive beam of light that mowed down everything in its way.

Unlike her earlier spell, this one focused on widescale destruction.

For the first time, their adversary's eyes widened in shock and fear. In the face of Lucia's full powered attack, even he could no longer play around.
