Apocalypse: Transmigrated General's Daughter Uses Space to Survive-Chapter 83: Worrying Her Family
Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Worrying Her Family
Ye Xuan didn’t overstay his welcome. Once he got Chu Miao’s promise he got up and left. Chu Miao trailed behind him and locked the door once he was gone.
She went back to the living room and entered the space immediately. All the light-blocking curtains in the house were drawn due to the harsh sun and she didn’t have to worry about someone spying on them and noticing her disappearing act.
When the others in the space ring noticed her, they all ran towards her and surrounded her asking where she had been and why she hadn’t let them out for so long.
Fo Chu Miao, only two hours had passed since she realized that her family had come out of seclusion, but for her family, it had been twelve hours.
The breakfast her mother had cooked had turned into lunch and then dinner.
"Where did you go Sweetheart? We’ve been out of seclusion for so long and didn’t see you letting us out. If not for the fact that there were no changes in the space, we would have worried that something happened to you." Her mother hugged her tightly as she asked.
Her mother had developed a kind of fear since the truck accident. Even though she knew that her daughter was now strong and nothing could happen to her, she still couldn’t stop her heart from worrying.
"Yes Bunny, I have running around the space for so long doing nothing that I am about to grow mold." Her brother, Chu Hao had to make his presence known.
"Sorry for making you would guys. I went out at night to fight zombies and collect crystal cores and some supplies. When I realized that you had all left seclusion, I was still in the city and couldn’t let you out. I just came back and immediately came in here to look for you." Chu Miao explained the situation and apologized for making her family worry.
"It’s okay as long as you are fine Bunny. But where did you go to kill zombies?" Her grandfather asked.
He of all people as a former general knew the importance of regular training when they were at war and facing strong enemies who were only getting stronger.
He didn’t blame his granddaughter, but he still worried about her.
"I went to Zeyi Mall. The mall outside the city. I figured that since it’s not inside the city, there must not have been a lot of people when the disaster struck and the number of zombies is not overwhelming, so I chose that location." Chu Miao replied, but didn’t elaborate that she had made a mistake in her judgement.
Even while working together with Ye Xuan they were almost overwhelmed by the sheer number of zombies there. If she had gone alone...she didn’t want to imagine the results.
But just because she didn’t say anything doesn’t mean that others couldn’t figure it out.
"Are you crazy Bunny? How could you go to a place like the mall alone? That location might be outside the city without a lot of office buildings and companies but the mall sells their products at affordable prices.
That alone drives a lot of traffic there as many people rush to buy goods at lower prices and save more. The lack of traffic due to its location is made up for by the reduced prices.
So, there’s no difference between going to Zeyi Mall and the malls inside the city." For the first time, she heard her father’s angry voice.
She had indeed made a miscalculation. She had not considered the difference in product prices making up for the number of zombies.
"I am sorry father. I won’t make that same mistake again. Luckily, I didn’t go alone, so there was no significant danger." Chu Miao added with a shy smile.
Looking at the way she was smiling shyly, her family looked at each other and each saw surprised in the others’ face.
Who did she go with to have that shy expression on her face?
"Who did you go with?" Her mother asked.
"Ye Xuan. I met him at the elevator on my way out and we went together. It’s a good thing that I met him, otherwise things might have been worse." Chu Miao replied.
Hearing what she said, the others had a knowing look on their faces.
It seemed like that boy had finally made some progress.
That was good. They had started to worry that he was too slow. Not that they wanted to marry off their daughter/granddaughter faster but she was too independent and opinionated and they worried that with the apocalypse upon them, it would not be easy to find a good match for her.
It was actually funny how Chu Hao, the older brother was already twenty-four years old and no one seems to notice that he could also do with a girlfriend and get married soon.
Everyone was fully concentrated on Chu Miao’s affairs and no one ever said anything about his matters.
Chu Hao once again wondered for the hundredth and eighth time if he was adopted.
"So, you went to kill zombies together with Xiao Xuan? Then I don’t have to worry, he is a gentleman and will naturally not let you fall into danger." Grandfather Chu commented as he visibly relaxed.
"Yes, he was a great help tonight. It felt good fighting with someone who is willing to leave his back to me because I know that at least for the time being, I could also leave my back to him." Chu Miao replied with a slight smile.
Her family was shocked to hear her evaluation of Ye Xuan. That was high praise and it showed that the two had developed some degree of trust in this escapade.
Even though they had been a little upset that the girl had put herself in danger by going to the mall without them, they were gratified that the relationship they had been rooting for had finally made progress.
"Did you get any harvest from your training this time?" He grandpa asked again as the family walked into the living room inside the courtyard and sat down.
"Yes, we had a good harvest. We cleared about two thousand zombies and got five hundred crystal cores. Moreover, we killed five mutant rats and also gained five beast cores." Chu Miao replied with a bright smile as she stood up and walked over to her backpack to take out the crystal cores she had gained that night.
