Chapter 49 - What Truly Happened [1]

Zane spent 2 hours, practicing the basics of swordsmanship, while using his enchanted wand as a sword.

In those two hours, he had only learned how to wield a sword properly, and which was pretty much a good feat for Zane.

His progress maybe slow but, it's not about how fast your progress is. It's about the result of your progress.

After two hours of training, Zane was finally done. He was breathing heavily, and sweats were all over his face and clothes.

Zane placed both his wand and book to it's rightful place and headed to his closet once again. He then grabbed his towel and wiped of all the sweats that had accumulated all over his body.

Zane didn't really change his clothes earlier, before he practiced his swordsmanship, since he didn't really expect he would be practicing swordsmanship.

But, he had alot of sleeping clothes he could change to, so it didn't really matter.

After changing clothes, he went to his bed and jumped over it.

Velrath was nowhere to be seen, since he grew bored watching Zane, doing his physical training.

Zane had gotten used to Velrath being gone so it didn't really bother him that much. He was just worried that the human-like demon might be plotting something everytime he went out.

However, considering that everytime Velrath went out, nothing bad happened, which made Zane's mind at ease.

This made him think, Velrath might just be strolling around out there. I mean, he had been sealed for years so it was pretty reasonable.

Casting all the thoughts aside, he turned off the lights and went to sleep. He was already very exhausted from his training, so it didn't took him long to fall asleep.

...

Zane was currently preparing all his stuffs, since he was finally going back to the academy.

After preparing all the stuff he needed to bring with him, he went out of his bedroom, carrying a bag with him.

The bag looked quite heavy, considering all the stuff in there were all the magic formula he had brought with him from the library and also the books about the basics of swordsmanship.

He then headed down of the palace, and went out. There he could see a carriage, waiting for him. The carriage looked beautifully designed, just like what he rode yesterday.

There were also other carriages, leaving looking exactly the same as the one in front of Zane.

Since everyone was going back in the academy, it wasn't such a surprising sight. Although it was definitely unusual to see the pathway in front of him to be so busy.

"Hey, Zane. Hurry up!"

"Yeah, I will."

And also, since Eris and Zane went to the same school, they were going to be riding the same carriage.

Zane then headed at the back of the carriage, and put all of his belongings there. He then went back inside the palace.

Since there was no time to meet his mother so early in the morning, he had thought of just requesting it to the old butler, he had met yesterday.

Zane searched for the old butler throughout the entire palace as fast as he could, until finally.

The old butler was standing still, looking at the beautiful painting before him.

Hearing a footstep near him, he looked towards the source of the sound.

"Oh my, young master. Is there something you need?"

Zane stood still for a while, trying to find the right words to say his request. He then said:

"Uh, well..."

"You can call me, Rowan—young master."

"Uhm, Mr. Rowan, can you please hand over a letter for my mother?"

Zane said, while handing over a letter to the old butler.

Rowan stared at the letter for a moment, he then reached for it and took it from Zane's hand. He then said:

"My, of course young master."

Hearing Rowan's response, Zane smiled and said:

"Thanks!"

Zane then ran off, heading down the palace once again.

Rowan watched Zane as he disappeared from the distance. There was a soft expression from his face, he then said:

"Ah, what a kind young man. It's rare to meet someone like that these days."

...

"What the hell took you so long, Zane?"

"Sorry about that, I just needed to do something."

Zane sat still on the carriage. Eris was beside him, while Velrath was sitting beside the driver of the carriage.

Moments after, they finally started moving. Heading to Arcana Magic Academy.

...

Hours after...

They finally arrived at the entrance gate of the academy.

Zane stood still before it's towering gate.

Meanwhile, Eris had already hurried off inside.

'Ah, back to the academy again...'

Zane then went inside the front gate, ignoring all the eyes upon him.

He walked as fast as he could, heading to his dormitory. Moments afterwards, he finally arrived and opened the door. Considering that the door was still open, Vale was probably still inside.

As soon as he opened the door, he could see a young man with brown hair and piercing-green eyes.

He wore the Arcana Magic Academy uniform just like Zane.

It was Vale. Seeing as Zane was in front of him, a smile appeared on his lips. He then said:

"Zane? What the hell man, what took you so long to get back?!"

"Sorry about that, I had to take care of some issue."

He paused, then added:

"Actually, I'll tell you later."

Zane then hurried off to his bedroom and dropped off his heavy bag.

"Let's go, Vale."

Zane and Vale then walked together, heading in their classroom. Moments afterwards, they finally arrived at their classroom.

Since it was still pretty early, the professor was still not here yet.

"So, can you just tell me what the hell have you been doing these fast few days? You've been acting strange you know."

Zane remained quite for a while, trying to find the right words to answer Vale's question.

"Well, you know yesterday. When I went back to Ironveil?"

He paused, then added:

"I actually went back to do the trials again, and... good news, I passed."

"..."

As soon as those words came out of Zane's mouth, Vale's expression became dumbfounded. He then said in a shocking tone:

"What?!"
