Chapter 59: Meeting the others. Selena

In front of Alex’s eyes was a large living room with simple settings. Three large couches and a round glass table in the middle of the living room. The temperature in the living room was cool compared to the temperature outside, and the walls were sparkling white.

Although it was a living room with simple settings, it was nothing like Alex had ever seen before and amazed by it; the living room was like a place from a different world compared to their living room back home.

Simon invited Alex in to have a seat while Mia climbed the stairs in the corner and went to the upper floors; she had left Alex in Simon’s care for the time being.

Simon took this duty seriously and immediately started to talk about the building to Alex.

Places such as the living room that they were currently in, the kitchen, dining room, and store rooms were all found on the lowest floor of the building.

The second floor was where the living rooms of the group members were located. Each member had their own room with a private bathroom. Simon reminded Alex not to judge the building by its size from outside; the space inside was bigger, and there were more vacant rooms than he could think of.

As for the third floor, Alex learned that it was where the various training rooms were located. Alex was very interested in the training rooms that Simon mentioned and planned to check them out.

"The training rooms are reinforced with formations and can withstand an attack of a Master rank mage, so feel free to use your full strength when training; only by doing so can you push yourself to the limit and make improvements," Simon stated.

Alex nodded in agreement and asked Simon to tell him more about the training rooms.

The latter was very happy to tell Alex more.

One of the training rooms was a gravitational room, a formation was set in the room which would change the gravity inside and bring great pressure upon anyone inside.

All one needed to do was to try moving or sit down and meditate under the pressure. This was a means of building a mage’s endurance and stamina, they could either decide to use their mana to withstand the pressure or use just their bodies until they could no longer take it.

Of course, the level of gravity inside could be adjusted so one could set it to a level that they knew they could manage.

Another training room was for testing the power of one’s element. In that training room, some dummies had different levels of defence, and the level of defence could be set; the highest level was at the Master mage rank, which was equivalent to having a Master rank punching bag.

After setting the level of defence to one’s preference, they would then attack the dummies with spells and try to destroy them.

There were also training rooms where dummies would attack back and force the mage to engage in combat, this was to increase their reaction speed when fighting and timing to cast spells.

As Simon talked, Alex was getting more and more interested in the training room.

He could not help but wonder, a small explorer group already had such training facilities, what about those big groups? The Union was still another one, he wondered how different their training facilities would be compared to this one.

Of course, he would have to accept their offer and become a member of the Union to have access to their training rooms.

While Simon explained about the training room, someone walked into the living room at this moment; the person had come out from the door that led to the kitchen.

It was a woman with a lazy expression; she wore a long, straight shirt that reached just above her knees and had long green hair that covered half of her face. She held a plate of food in one hand and a drink in the other.

She shot Simon and Alex a glance after seeing them in the living room, and her gaze lingered on Alex.

"Who’s this?" She asked with a sleepy tone.

"He’s Alex, our newest member," Simon answered while patting Alex on the shoulder.

"Oh, I see. Welcome to the group, let us know if you need anything." The woman said to Alex before walking away toward the dining room.

For some reason, Alex felt that what she meant was the opposite. Her tone made her words sound like "if you need help, go meet the others and don’t bother me."

Alex stared at her with a strange look as she walked away; she didn’t seem to mind the way she was dressed and walked freely.

’A Core mage too, huh? She must be sure that no one would dare try anything with her.’ Alex thought to himself after checking the woman’s rank.

She was a beauty as well and could easily make one’s imagination run wild, especially with how she was dressed in just a single shirt. Alex still felt that Aunt Mia was prettier, though.

"Who’s that?" He asked Simon after the woman left.

"That’s Selena, don’t mind her attitude, she’s always like that. But don’t dare have any thoughts about her because of that, she doesn’t seem to have any interest in men and has zapped a few men in our group and other groups; she’s a powerful lightning mage." Simon advised with a serious expression.

Alex nodded seriously as well, he would keep that in mind.

The two continued to chat as more people arrived at the living room, some coming from outside.

All of them would throw Alex curious glances when they saw him, and Simon would proceed to inform them that he was a new member and introduce him.

Before long, Alex had met all the members of the group; it was as if someone had called them to return to the group’s base.

Amongst them, Alex recognised the rough-looking man who had tried to recruit him as Mr Chen.

One thing that Alex had noticed after meeting all of the members was that it had really been a long time since they had got any new members; they were very welcoming and immediately started to act as kind seniors after finding out that he was a new member.

Of course, except for Selena, the woman didn’t appear too happy to see him, but she wasn’t angry about it either.

As for the overall strength of the group. While Alex hated to admit it, the overall strength of the group was weak.

The majority of the members were at the Adept mage rank, and only Simon, Selena, and a few others had reached the Core mage rank. Aunt Mia was the only Expert mage in the group.

’Well, there’s nothing to be done about it.’ Alex sighed in his heart, he was only here as an excuse to earn money anyway.

Some of the members stayed in the living room to chat with Simon and Alex, they were equally shocked when they learnt that he had the space element; they had reacted the same as Simon.

"Alex, will you be staying here with us?" Someone asked.

Alex shook his head, he still had to go to the academy. He would only come here after closing from the academy and would return home later in the evening. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

At this moment, Aunt Mia came down to the living room.

"We have a mission. Alex, Phil, and Joan, you three are coming." She announced, her eyes scanned the place before arriving at the dining room where a certain someone was eating.

"You too, Selena; go get dressed."
