Being Op With My Broken System: All Limits Have Errors-Chapter 60: First mission
Chapter 60: First mission
Selena froze mid-action after her name was called, she stopped chewing what was in her mouth and glanced over at Mia. From the woman’s expression, anyone could tell that she wasn’t happy that her name had been called.
"But I’m eating," Selena said in protest.
"No problem, you can bring it along and eat it along the way," Mia responded with a wide smile on her face.
A hint of frustration appeared on Selena’s face, her eyes roamed the faces of everyone in the living room before arriving at Mia’s face again.
"Why me? I just returned from completing a mission not long ago." She complained with a depressed look on her face.
"Sigh, I know. Anyway, go get dressed so we can leave soon. The earlier we get there, the earlier we’ll return." Mia said before walking toward a couch to sit, she was waiting for Selena.
The frustration in Selena’s eyes became more evident at the turn of events, it was obvious that Mia wasn’t planning to listen to any of her excuses. Left without a choice, she got up and left with her meal.
Alex had watched everything with a perplexed expression. Even he felt that it was strange that Aunt Mia wanted to take Selena in particular, even though there were other members of the group present, there were other Core mages too if that was her reason; Simon was a Core mage.
MIA noticed Alex’s expression and giggled from across the living room.
"Don’t mind that, she’s just lazy and likes to avoid work. Besides, this will be your first mission. Are you nervous?" She asked.
Alex didn’t know how to reply to her question; he could lie that he was nervous, but he didn’t feel like it. So instead of answering, Alex asked about the mission.
"I’ll tell you guys on the way." Aunt Mia said before resting her back and closing her eyes.
Alex was left speechless.
"You’ll get used to it, just make sure to stay close to them during the mission," Simon whispered to Alex before standing up and leaving the room.
Alex glanced at two figures sitting not too far away from him. They were a man with spiky blond hair and a woman with short brown hair, they were Phil and Joan.
They had been introduced by Simon earlier, so he still remembered them.
’Three Adept mages, one Core mage, with the addition of herself. I guess the mission isn’t that dangerous.’ Alex thought to himself.
Since aura meter was still set at the Adept mage rank, he was seen as one. He, with the addition of Joan and Phil, was the three Adept mages. Selena was the Core mage, while Aunt Mia was the strongest in their team that would be going on the mission.
Not long after, Selena came down; she had changed into a different outfit.
She was now in a black cropped jacket with a shirt underneath, blue jeans, and brown boots.
However, she still had an unhappy expression that screamed, "Don’t approach me!"
Upon her arrival, Mia stood up and walked toward the door.
"Let’s go."
The others immediately followed, including Alex.
"Good luck!"
"Stay close to the leader, don’t move on your own."
"Don’t get hurt!"
The others called out as he left, and Alex thanked them for their reminders before going after the others.
Getting outside, Mia told Phil that he would be the one to drive. The latter didn’t argue and immediately got into the driver’s seat.
MIA and Selena took the back seats, Alex was left with no other option but the front seat beside Phil.
"Aglo," Mia mentioned the name of their location, and Phil immediately set off.
Aglo was another side of Balon City that wasn’t too far from where the RWGB was located, they would arrive soon.
Along the way, Mia finally told them about the mission.
It turned out that a warehouse in Aglo had been occupied by magic beasts; they had been discovered some days ago by one of the workers.
After investigations, it was discovered that the beasts were ant-type magic beasts and all of them were at the common rank. They had apparently dug holes in the ground where they lived and would come out to look for food every now and then.
The magic beasts were the type that didn’t take the initiative to hunt humans but would attack those who got close, This was why the workers in the warehouse were able to escape.
As for their exact numbers, they were uncertain.
Their mission was to go and kill all the beasts, and make sure that none was left.
’Ant-type magic beasts, I’ve met one before.’ Alex thought to himself as he recalled the ant beast he had killed outside the border some time ago, he remembered how hard its armour was.
He had only been able to penetrate it because he was using spells of the Core rank.
After many minutes of driving, they finally reached Aglo. With Mia pointing out the way, Phil was able to drive to the exact location where they would carry out their mission.
Stepping out of the car, Alex looked at the huge building that was surrounded by many officers in Union uniforms and holding magic guns in their hands.
They had set a radius of ten meters around the warehouse into a restricted area and didn’t allow anyone to approach.
"Let’s go," Mia said to the four. They quickly followed behind her and approached the officers.
The officers immediately noticed them walking over and shouted for them to stop.
"This is a restricted area, turn back this moment if you still value your life!" One of the officers shouted but was completely ignored as Mia still continued to walk. Naturally, the four behind her kept walking as well.
Seeing this, more officers came to face them and gripped their weapons hard as if they were prepared to take action at any moment.
One of them was about to speak again but was cut off by Mia, who suddenly appeared in front of him.
"Shut up and get out of my way if you don’t want to get hurt," Mia said expressionlessly as she showed her Explorer card to them, her cold eyes scanning their shocked faces.
"E-explorer Mia!" One of the officers stuttered. What shocked them wasn’t that Mia was an explorer but the speed at which she appeared in front of them.
"We are members of the Rising Wave group, and dealing with the beasts inside this place is our mission here, so move out of the way," Joan said to the officers while pointing at the warehouse behind them.
The officers immediately came back to their senses, and they moved out of the way.
"Of course, of course, please forgive our actions just now." The officer who had tried to stop them apologised.
Mia didn’t respond and directly walked past them. Alex and the others followed behind her.
They arrived in front of the warehouse, a large door that was several meters tall stood in front of them, while a smaller door could be seen on one of the huge doors.
"Ready?" Aunt Mia turned to look at Alex and asked, and the latter nodded.
Bang!
Aunt Mia directly knocked the smaller door open with a kick.
Alex "..."
