Chapter 64: His share from the mission

Was he(Mr Chen) that popular? He had only been to the Union building a few times, but even the members of the Rising Wave group were already talking about him, how many more groups were discussing him?

Well, it was good that way. He wanted to make his Mr Chen identity a well-known figure.

Simon seemed to notice him and Joan at this moment and called out to them.

"You’re back so soon? Where are the others?" Simon asked the two as they walked toward a couch in the living room.

"You should already know that we finished so quickly because the leader was with us. Phil took them to the Union building," Joan said as she dropped onto the softness of the couch.

"That’s true, the leader doesn’t like wasting time. Anyway, you must be hungry, Alex. Want to join me?" Simon asked while gesturing for Alex to come to the dining room, but the latter shook his head and said he wasn’t hungry.

"Oh, it’s the new kid. How was your first mission? Come tell us about it." The two who were arguing immediately stopped and turned their attention to Alex.

Alex looked at the two who were staring at him with shining eyes as if waiting to hear an interesting story.

But before he could say anything, Joan sat up and began to recount what had happened in the warehouse. Her words had nothing but praise for Alex when she told how he had managed to dodge the ant despite it being a sudden attack.

"Wow, that’s truly impressive," Simon commented while stuffing a spoonful in his mouth.

"Indeed, this dude had pissed himself the first time a magic beast attacked him." The huge man laughed while pointing at the rough-looking man.

"Hey, don’t say nonsense!" The latter shouted angrily, but this made the huge man laugh more and started to talk about their past experiences that were over ten years ago, some of them had just joined the group and were rookies.

Alex listened with interest. The rough-looking man was unable to make the huge man stop talking and left the living room in embarrassment.

Listening to the story of the huge man, Alex found many of their past experiences very amusing; Joan was even laughing from time to time, while Simon would add some details occasionally.

"Anyway, you did very well for your first mission." The huge man added after he finished his story.

"Hmm, his space element was even more shocking, and his casting speed was incredibly fast too!" Joan commented.

"It can’t be helped, the space element is difficult to awaken for a reason; fighting against a space mage can be considered a life mistake." Simon chucked before suddenly realising something.

"Alex, you’re still in the academy, right?" He asked, and Alex nodded in response.

"Then you’ll be representing your academy in the coming tournament?"

"Possibly," Alex replied.

"Then we’ll come and cheer for you, I have no doubt that our youngest will get a good score in the tournament!" Joan declared, and the two men chuckled while Alex smiled; he didn’t deny her words.

The door to the living room was open at this moment, and three people walked in: they were Phil, Mia, and Selena, who had gone to the Union building.

"Welcome back!" Simon waved at them from the dining room.

Selena glanced at everyone in the living room and, without saying anything to them, she made a beeline for the stairs before disappearing to the next floor.

"Sheesh, she’s probably going to sleep. I wonder how she got to the Core rank with such a lazy personality." Simon said jokingly, and the others laughed along.

"What a tiring day. Alex, I should take you back, it’s getting late." Mia stretched her body and said as her eye landed on Alex.

The first thing that Alex saw was the two peaks on her chest as she stretched, he quickly averted his gaze while saying ok.

He stood up and walked toward the door.

"Phil, you’ll drive." Mia voiced out as she walked toward the door as well.

Phil "..."

Didn’t you just say you would take him back? How am I driving?

Mia turned to look at Phil, She raised an eyebrow when she saw his expression.

"What’s with the face? Don’t you know that a woman shouldn’t drive when there’s a man around? Be a gentleman and drive." She said with a wide smile.

Phil let out a helpless sigh. Why did he even bother thinking that their leader would drive? It was easier to just do as she said. At least that way, one would not have to question oneself too much.

"Come back soon, Alex!"

"Let’s hang out sometimes, I’ll buy you whatever you want!"

"See you soon!"

The three who were left in the living room waved at Alex. Alex waved back with a warm feeling inside him; they were really treating him like their youngest, and he was very familiar with this feeling from his past life.

This was how many of the shop owners treated him where he used to work, it was a nice feeling.

’Guess joining them wasn’t a bad idea after all.’ Alex thought to himself as he sat with Mia in the back seats while Phil drove toward the outskirts.

"Ahem, Alex, can you do me a favour?" Mia suddenly cleared her throat and said to Alex in a serious voice.

Alex was startled to hear her speaking in such a way, he almost felt that someone had possessed her.

"W-what is it?" He made out after a while.

"Could you not tell your mother about the incident that happened today? I might be a mage, but even I can’t stand getting an earful from her; she’s scarier than magic beasts sometimes." Mia said while looking at Alex with one eye.

Knowing that her other eye was fine and she was wearing the eye patch for fashion helped Alex not feel strange from being stared at with one eye. he agreed to her request and promised not to tell his mother that he was almost eaten by a huge ant today.

"Thank you so much, I’ll help you find a girlfriend like your Aunt Mia as a reward," Mia said with a smirk, and Alex’s face immediately turned red, causing Mia to laugh.

"Anyway, after collecting the payment for the mission and selling the corpses and cores of the ants, we got a bit over two million Zen and your share is 400,000 Zen," Mia stated after she stopped laughing.

Alex "..."

He did some calculations in his mind and realised that Mia had basically split the money equally among everyone who went for the mission.

This touched him. Even though it was less than what he made when he went out by himself, she had given him this much, even though he had only killed one beast and literally watched through the rest of the mission.

"Thank you," Alex said after a while, his voice filled with gratitude.

With this money, he could pay his parents’ debt right away and still have a lot of money left!

"You’re welcome, would you want me to send your share to your account or your parents?" Mia asked.

"Send it to my parents’ account," Alex answered.

After all, he didn’t have an account yet.
