......
Alex felt the power flowing through his body, it was as if he just stepped into a whole new world.
This was the Master mage rank, a rank that 80 per cent of mages would never reach in their lives. Although the difference between the Expert mage rank and the Master mage rank was a one-rank difference, the gap between both ranks was like heaven and earth; many mages would find it difficult to cross to this rank because it required not just talent but an astronomical amount of resources.
But Alex had reached it just like that; all he had to do was kill weak magic beasts.
Other mages would definitely die from jealousy if they found out, it was just too unfair!
Alex lifted one of his hands and the next moment, stars appeared like flashes of light before forming two huge star constellations above his head.
It had only taken a second for the two-star constellations to form. This was proof that one had reached the Master mage rank; one’s soul sea would be able to contain the number of stars needed to form two star constellations, and they could use spells at the Master rank!
Alex stared at the two purple star constellations that were releasing violent pressure, and a satisfied smile formed on his face.
As expected, the system helped him learn the star constellations as soon as he reached the Master mage rank and his speed was shocking.
One had to know that after reaching a new rank, a mage would have to learn to control the newly formed stars in their soul sea before restarting the process of connecting the stars into star patterns and then star constellations.
This process usually took weeks or even months, and their speed would be very slow. After they finally managed to learn it, they would only get faster over time.
But Alex was different, he was able to skip all those long procedures thanks to the system!
Truly a system deserving of its name, the almighty path system!
After admiring the star constellations for some time, Alex withdrew his star back to his soul sea and the star constellations vanished along with the violent pressure of the lightning element.
Alex’s soul sea right now had expanded greatly after he reached the Master mage rank and could now fit in the one hundred stars of his two elements. The amount of mana that he could now store was unimaginable, he couldn’t even imagine the amount of spells he could cast before experiencing mana shortage.
Of course, that was only related to low-rank spells. Using spells that corresponded to his current rank would consume his mana quickly.
After withdrawing his stars back to his soul sea, Alex turned and stared in a particular direction in the forest. It was the direction where he had encountered the red-eyed bear the last time.
Alex had promised to go for a rematch after reaching the Master mage rank and now he had reached it, he was going to kill that bear!
He was already done hunting for the day, he planned to kill the bear before returning to the city.
This time, Alex didn’t use the system skill, void walk, to head deep into the forest. He wanted to test how much his body had improved after he reached the Master mage rank.
With that in mind, Alex slowly lowered his body before jumping into the air.
Boom!
A loud sound rang out as the ground exploded under Alex’s force. The next moment, Alex found himself in the air above the forest.
He had jumped higher than the gigantic trees of the forest!
"Wow!" Alex couldn’t help but exclaim as he took in the view from above. As far as his eyes could see, everywhere was covered in trees of different heights. He could not see an end to the sea of trees.
’This, is awesome!’ Alex thought to himself as his body flew forward while descending, he easily crossed hundreds of meters while in the air.
Some seconds later, Alex finally dropped back into the forest.
Boom!
Another explosive sound rang out as Alex’s feet made contact with the floor of the forest, sending chunks of earth into the air and creating a huge crater with him at the center.
"Well, that was a rough landing; I should work on that in the future," Alex muttered to himself. Although he didn’t feel anything, the same could not be said for the place around him.
Mages below the Expert mage rank would have gotten hurt if they were around.
Alex looked at his surroundings to determine how far he had jumped; the void walk had taken him very far the last time, which was why he had encountered such a powerful magic beast.
As expected, Alex couldn’t recognise where he was; all the trees looked almost the same.
Left without a choice, Alex spread his senses around him if he would detect anything. Although he didn’t think that he had jumped far enough, the sound of his landing must have travelled further.
That bear would definitely have heard it if it was within a kilometre radius of this place.
Now that he was at the Master mage rank, Alex’s senses were like invisible ripples that covered hundreds of meters radius around him and he could vaguely make out everything within the range of his senses detection.
"Eh, what’s this?" Alex couldn’t help but mutter to himself as his senses picked up the presence of something around five hundred meters ahead of Alex but the thing was rapidly approaching him.
Alex frowned, although he wasn’t able to tell exactly what it was, he could at least make out its size and shape.
Judging from what Alex was seeing, this thing wasn’t the bear that he was looking for.
It was even smaller than a human!
"But it’s pretty fast, what is it?" Alex mumbled as his frown deepened, he continued to watch whatever the thing was as it rapidly approached him.
Five hundred meters...
Four hundred and fifty meters...
Three hundred and twenty meters...
One hundred and sixty meters...
Seventy meters....
The speed of the thing was so fast that it crossed the distance of five hundred meters in half a minute!
Immediately after it reached the gap of twenty meters in front of Alex, Alex switched his view back to his eyes and looked in front of him, just in time to see a red energy ball that was the size of a car tyre breaking through trees and flying toward him at a crazy speed.
Alex "..."
Who the hell randomly shoots energy balls in the forest? What if someone got hurt!
Although slightly stunned, Alex didn’t dare to stand in the way of the red energy ball; after all, he didn’t know how strong it was.
So without wasting time, Alex flashed to the side, leaving afterimages behind him as he dodged the energy ball completely.
Bam!
Bam!
Bam!
The energy ball missed Alex and continued to fly in the same direction, crashing into trees and making them explode upon impact.
"How strong is that energy ball?!" Alex was in disbelief; he could not even imagine how many trees had been destroyed by that energy ball, but it just kept flying!
