Chapter 70: Facing the red eyed bear again

Roar!!

A thunderous roar resounded through the forest, pulling Alex’s attention away from the energy that had long flown out of sight.

Looking in the direction that the energy ball had flown from, Alex saw a gigantic figure rushing toward him, its huge body knocked down trees in its way. A single glowing red eye glared at Alex with strong killing intent.

Alex recognised the owner of the red eye instantly, it was the bear he had come to kill!

However, Alex soon noticed something about the bear as it got close. And that was that the bear had gotten stronger as well.

It was still at the mutated beast rank but its aura was now stronger than the last time, it was very close to breaking through!

’No wonder it’s still so fast.’ Alex said to himself as a grin formed on his lips.

The bear charged at him while roaring crazily, crossing dozens of meters in a matter of seconds.

It rose up on both legs as it got closer to Alex, its five-meter huge body towering like a huge building in front of Alex as it slammed down at him with one of its enormous hands.

Alex didn’t dodge this attack. Instead, he raised his hands in front of him as his eyes blazed with the light of the space element. At the same time, silver-white stars appeared above him before instantly forming into two-star patterns.

"Space wall!" Alex called out, and an invisible wall that was almost as tall as the bear instantly formed in front of him just before the large paw of the bear could reach him.

Bam!

The ground shook as the paw of the bear slammed into Alex’s space wall. Alex felt the impact on his hands but it wasn’t too much for him to bear.

Unlike the last time, Alex’s space wall didn’t crumble after just one hit!

The two sides entered a temporary standstill, the bear’s paw trembling on the space wall as it tried to push through and reach the masked figure in front of it, its one eye gleaming with hatred.

Alex looked at the other eye of the bear that looked like a dark hole, it was his handwork the last time they met.

The grin on his face widened.

"I see you’ve gotten stronger as well and can now even launch ranged attacks. Did you miss me so much that you couldn’t wait to see me in person and sent an energy ball to welcome me first?" Alex asked in a mocking tone.

As if understanding Alex’s words, the bear stood up to its full height and roared into the sky, the red light In its remaining eye gleaming brighter.

It had definitely been enraged by Alex’s words but more importantly, it remembered Alex as the person who damaged its other eye!

After letting out an enraged roar, the bear looked down at Alex again as it slammed down; this time with both of his paws.

Alex obviously wasn’t going to block that hit; defending against one paw was already close to his limit, even as a Master mage.

Swoosh!!

Alex’s figure turned into a black shadow as he moved away, and went to the bear’s side.

Bam!

The paws of the bear smashed into the place where Alex was standing just a while ago, instantly destroying the ground and sending chunks of earth and dirt flying everywhere.

From its side, Alex ignored the commotion caused by the bear’s attack. He balled his right palm into a fist before punching out with all his strength.

The sound of his fist tearing through the wind could be heard clearly, and an even more devastating sound followed after his fist met with the hairy leg of the beast.

Cklap!

Boom!

It was as if an explosion set off, accompanied by the sound of two solid objects colliding at great speed.

A powerful Shockwave swept up from the impact and sent Alex and the bear sliding backwards.

Roar!!

The bear let out an enraged roar after getting punched by Alex, its red eye was on the verge of bathing the world in its brilliance.

Meanwhile, Alex shook his hand as he rubbed his wrist. He had felt that punch too; this beast’s body was hard as hell!

"As expected of a magic beast at the mutated rank, I have to use spells if I want to kill it; I can’t treat it like those weak beasts I can kill just by hitting them," Alex muttered to himself.

He didn’t find it surprising that he wasn’t able to deal much damage to this bear with his punch. After all, the bear was already troublesome enough when it was at the mutated rank, it was only natural that it became even stronger after reaching the semi transformed beast rank.

Just now, Alex had felt like he had punched a metal wall, a weaker mage would have lost their hand in the process.

At this moment, the bear suddenly went on all fours with its head facing Alex. Alex raised an eyebrow, he was curious but wasn’t planning to wait around and find out what the bear was going to do.

He was about to move when he suddenly saw the bear opening its mouth, and strong wind suddenly began to blow through the forest as a powerful pressure gathered toward the open mouth of the bear; a red energy ball was quickly forming!

It was about to shoot out another energy ball!

At the sight of this, Alex’s eyes turned silver-white as fifty silver-white stars appeared above him and connected into two-star constellations instantly before releasing a burst of silver-white energy into Alex’s body.

Boom!

The bear fired the red energy ball that it had condensed at this moment. And at the same time, Alex’s voice rang out.

"Telekinesis!"

Swoosh!

The speed of the energy ball at such a close range was not something most Master rank mages would be able to keep up with, Alex was no exception. The energy ball had simply vanished from his line of sight after the bear released it, it was too fast.

0.002 seconds later, just before the energy call could crash into Alex, it suddenly came to a halt a few centimetres in front of his face.

That’s right, the energy ball had stopped in front of Alex’s face and was less than a meter away from touching him.

Alex had caught it with his telekinesis!

Behind the all-knowing mask, Alex’s eyes were wide open and glowing with silver-white light, cold sweat could be seen on his forehead, and his heart was beating rapidly in his chest.

’Goodness, that was a close call.’ Alex breathed inwardly; he felt like sitting down to regain his bearing, but now was not the time.

The bear was still alive and he had only managed to stop its energy ball by using telekinesis.

As for why he had used two-star constellations to cast telekinesis, it was because the spell that space mages could use after reaching the Master mage rank was telekinesis.

To put it short, the space element had two spells with the same name!

As for their differences. The telekinesis at the Adept mage rank only allowed a mage to control an object with their hand movements, and it was only a single item at a time that they could control.

Plus, the strength of the control of telekinesis at the adept mage rank was weak, with its foundation being the sub-stages that the mage was at.

As for the telekinesis at that Master mage rank, not only did it allow a mage to control objects without lifting their hands, but they could control multiple objects at the same time!

This meant that a space mage at the Master mage rank could control multiple people or objects at the same time with just their eyes, and they didn’t need to pay special attention to each target under their control!
