Being Op With My Broken System: All Limits Have Errors-Chapter 71: Lightning bolts
Chapter 71: Lightning bolts
This was also the reason why Alex was able to stop the energy ball that the bear had shot at him. Because of how fast the energy ball was, Alex would not have been able to catch it since he couldn’t see it clearly and had only managed to stop it because he had caught a glimpse of it.
Currently, the red energy ball was vibrating in the air in front of Alex’s face, churning around like a ball of red liquid; it was trying to break free from Alex’s control.
Alex’s mask currently looked like it was covering a ball of white light as the glow in his eyes blazed through the cracks on the mask. Beneath the mask, Alex was gritting his teeth and his expression showed a struggling look.
Holding the energy ball in place was really difficult.
Seeing that its attack had been stopped, the bear didn’t hesitate and dashed toward Alex. Perhaps it was incapable of firing multiple energy balls in a short time, so it went in for a close-range attack instead of shooting another energy ball.
The forest floor shook as the bear rushed forward with great speed, it arrived in front of Alex in a split second. One of its enormous hands lifted high in the air, growing taller than some of the surrounding trees.
Swoosh!!
The sound of the wind being ripped apart could be heard as the bear brought down his huge hand, its gigantic shadow swallowing the area around him.
Alex immediately noticed this and his expression hardened as he controlled the energy ball with force.
"Ahhh!"
He let out a scream as he forcefully suppressed the momentum of the energy ball and sent it back to the bear.
Boom!
Before the bear’s hand could land on Alex, the energy ball slammed into its body. Resulting in a violent explosion set off in their middle.
The bear was sent flying like a rocket since it had taken the full force of the energy ball while the shockwave from the impact pushed Alex dozens of meters away, he had used mana to control his body and avoid crashing into any tree.
In the distance, the sounds of the bear crashing into one tree after another echoed through the forest, accompanied by its loud roars.
"Tch, this is getting harder than I thought." Alex hissed as his feet landed on the ground after flying for almost twenty meters.
Without knowing, they had turned an area of ten meters into ruins. Craters filled the grass-covered ground, and many of the trees had been blasted apart. Alex could probably end this fight in an instant if he decided to use space cut but...he would end up losing both the beast corpse and the mana core!
"I’ll have to keep trying, if there’s no other way...then I’ll have to do it." His eyes flashed with a determined light behind his mask as he dashed forward and chased after the bear, crossing dozens of meters in an instant.
Alex arrived in front of the bear like a ghost; the other party had finally come to a stop after crashing into a huge tree and breaking it; it had yet to get up.
Alex could see the large, round, bloody wound on the bear’s stomach, which was caused by the energy ball. All of the hair in that area had been burnt off completely and the skin was scorched with blood streaming out slowly.
Overall, it still didn’t look like a life-threatening wound for a beast of such size.
"Tough bastard." Alex clicked his tongue as his eyes turned purple the next instant.
Fifty dazzling purple stars began to appear one after the other at a breakneck speed and flew into the air before connecting into two star constellations that stacked on top of one another.
The entire process took only a second and the bear didn’t even have time to get up yet.
Immediately after the two purple star constellations formed, a violent wind that took dirt and dried leaves into the air began to blow around Alex and the bear. For a moment, it looked like a storm was coming.
"Feel the might of a lightning spell at the Master mage rank. Lightning bolt!" Alex voiced out with one of his hands stretched toward the sky while his glowing purple eyes remained fixed on the bear’s remaining eye.
Right after Alex called out the name of the spell, the two star constellations flew even higher into the air before growing in size. They easily covered a radius of fifteen meters and their destructive pressure enveloped an area of twenty meters.
Arcs of purple lightning flashed across the surfaces of the two star constellations for a moment before.
BOOM!
A thick bolt of lightning struck down from the star constellations in a purple flash that illuminated the forest.
Bam!
Its speed was so fast as it struck down at the bear, drowning it in purple light, causing the ground to crack and the forest to tremble.
In the heat of the moment, Alex noticed the bear opening its mouth and a small red light flew out. But it was quickly swallowed by the lightning bolt.
A violent gust of wind erupted and blew in all directions. Alex’s robe fluttered violently, but he remained standing with his hand raised high.
A pained roar was released by the bear but was drowned by the roar of lightning.
After a while, the star constellations disappeared and everywhere returned to normal. Alex took a look at the bear and he was stunned.
Alex "..."
Alex had a dumbfounded look on his face as he stared at the bear, the damned beast had reacted to his spell!
Currently, one of the bear’s paws was raised above its body and a huge bloody hole could be seen in its paw. Its bones could be seen through the wound as blood dripped down.
And on its chest was a small wound that wasn’t wide but was deeper than the one on its stomach.
Blood gushed out occasionally like a fountain.
Alex could not help but feel it was unbelievable; the bear had used its paw to take the full force of the lightning bolt, and only a weaker version of the spell had reached its chest.
"But even then, it should still have been blasted through. Just how hard is its body?" Alex was in disbelief but his eyes flashed with realization the next moment as he recalled something.
He had indeed seen the bear shooting a small energy ball into the air earlier!
After analysing everything in his mind, he felt that it now made sense that the bear didn’t die right away. It had blocked the lightning bolt twice before it reached its body and thanks to its extremely tough body, the weakened lightning bolt that would have blasted other weaker beasts to pieces didn’t kill it and only caused a deep wound.
It was very impressive for a beast to act like this.
"If that’s the case, let’s see how many hands you have to spare and how many energy balls you can spit out. Unlike you, I don’t have a cool down to casting spells." Alex said as a grin formed on his face.
The next moment, another two star constellations appeared in the air and covered a large area.
Seeing this, the bear raised its head and glared at Alex’s mask. Its remaining eye glowed with a red light that seemed to say.
Curse you, you unreasonable human!
"Lightning bolt." Alex’s voice sounded the next moment.
BOOM!
Rumble!
[Mission complete, 10 exp!]
"Phew!"
Plop!
Alex let out a loud sigh as he dropped to his butt after seeing the notification from the system, the bear was finally dead.
"That was the hardest fight I’ve had in my life, two lives even." Alex supported his body by placing his two hands on the ground as he looked up at the sky while sighing.
The sky was still bright but the sun had already retreated. Alex turned his head and looked at the corpse of the bear, a large scorched hole could be seen in its chest area. Not a single drop of blood could be seen around the wound and residue of purple lightning flickered from time to time.
"You were a worthy opponent, had me feeling like my life was in danger the whole time." Alex sighed, acknowledging the bear’s strength.
If another person had watched the fight, they would probably have scolded Alex that he didn’t even do much and should stop sighing like an old man. After all, the fight was basically over immediately after he started using Master rank spells.
After sitting there for a bit, Alex got up and moved closer to the bear’s corpse before placing a hand on one of its huge legs. His eyes glowed with a silver-white light as the stars of the space element formed two star patterns behind him.
"Space pocket."
A silver-white glow covered the bear’s huge body before disappearing the next moment alone with the bear; what was left in front of Alex was a bear-shaped gigantic crater.
