Being Op With My Broken System: All Limits Have Errors-Chapter 73: Terror bears
Chapter 73: Terror bears
On his way to the Union building in the commercial district, Alex was thinking about how he was going to find the people responsible for the kidnappings. Maybe he should ask the Union and have them tell him what they have found out so far?
He believed that they would be willing to tell him such information, after all, he was trying to help.
That aside, Dan had mentioned something about the Dark Union.
What was the Dark Union? Alex didn’t know, there was no information about it in the memories of the previous Alex either.
From the words of the officers, he could guess that the Dark Union wasn’t something that the general public was supposed to know about, and only those with power or in official positions should know.
This was why he didn’t ask them about it so he didn’t end up embarrassing himself. After all, they already regarded him as an expert; wouldn’t it be strange if he didn’t know what even ordinary officers knew about?
Alex decided that he would have to investigate the Dark Union on his own at a later time.
He finally reached the Union building at this time and walked in. As usual, the place was filled with people, both mages and non-mages.
Countless eyes immediately landed on Alex’s figure after he walked in, and the surrounding people began to whisper to one another. Alex pretended like he couldn’t hear them, but he could. His hearing was now very good after reaching the Master mage rank.
Due to Owen’s appearance the last time, no one came to try to recruit him into their explorer group but he could hear a few people discussing how they should invite him to come on missions together with them.
Alex remained standing in place without doing anything; he didn’t approach the receptionist’s desk either. This was because he had noticed one of the receptionists making a call immediately after setting her eyes on him.
And before the people who were planning to invite him to go on missions together could make their move, Owen appeared.
"Mr Chen, you’re here!"
Owen’s voice sounded through the bottom floor of the building after coming out of the elevator, a tinge of joy and surprise in his voice.
Alex could immediately hear some people cursing under their breaths; they were the ones who were trying to invite him on missions, and they were cursing Owen.
He stopped paying attention to them and turned his focus to Owen who was walking over with a big smile on his face.
Alex could not help but wonder how the man was able to remain happy despite the issue of missing children remaining a mystery.
’He will probably start acting like Dan when someone close to him goes missing too.’ Alex thought. After all, Dan looked alright when he first saw him and only started to look lifeless after his daughter was kidnapped.
"You finally came, haven’t seen you for a while. We thought you left Balon City already." Owen said with a respectful smile after reaching Alex, he didn’t reach out for a handshake and gestured for Alex to walk with him as they made their way to the elevator.
Alex took the first step while saying that he was busy with something.
"Of course, of course. It’s only natural that Mr Chen has other things to do besides hunting magic beasts." Owen chuckled.
Both of them entered the elevator and it started to rise.
While they waited to reach their designated floor, Owen suddenly let out a sigh and said.
"The descent of a God."
Alex looked at him, one of his eyebrows lifting behind his mask.
’What was this man talking about? What God was descending?’
Owen noticed that Alex was staring at him and immediately waved his hands while saying with a burst of embarrassed laughter.
"Oh don’t mind me, it’s something I read in a book and felt it was amusing."
Alex only nodded and didn’t pay any more attention to the man. They rode the elevator in silence before it stopped at a floor, and the doors opened; they stepped out, and Alex followed Owen’s lead to the room where he was to drop the things he wanted to sell.
But instead of going in, Alex stopped in front of the room and looked at Owen.
"Is there a bigger room?" Alex asked, thinking of the corpse of the bear in his space pocket. The corpse was almost half the height of the building that they were in.
Owen revealed a puzzled expression before saying.
"Rest assured, Mr Chen, this room has a space compressing formation that can increase the size to fit what is in it. You probably didn’t notice previously because you weren’t paying attention.
I’m sure whatever you brought will fit in." Owen flashed a convincing smile as he said this.
Alex didn’t say anything else and entered, the door closed behind him while Owen remained outside. frёewebnoѵēl.com
In the room, Alex brought out all of the beast corpses that were inside his storage ring first; there were less than 11 beast corpses in the storage ring.
Next was his space pocket. With the space pocket being a growth-type storage spell and would grow bigger as Alex got stronger, the space inside was several times larger than when he had first created it.
The space inside his space pocket at the moment was over a hundred meters! This was why it was able to store the gigantic corpse of the bear.
Sometime later, Owen was standing beside a large door with his head resting on the cold wall. He appeared to be in thought but his thinking was interrupted by the opening of the door. He immediately stood up and looked at the masked figure that came out.
"Ah, Mr Chen you’re out." Owen voiced out with a polite smile.
Alex nodded in response without saying anything. Owen was already used to this and walked into the room.
Upon entering the room, Owen’s eyes opened wide at the sight of the first creature he saw. It was the gigantic corpse of the bear.
"T-this..." Owen was shocked and speechless as he stared at the dead bear and the wounds on it.
Several minutes later, Owen came out to meet Alex who was standing outside; the shock from seeing the giant corpse was still on his face.
"Mr Chen, t-that’s a terror bear." Owen slowly said with a hint of excitement on his face.
Alex’s eyes flashed behind his mask.
’So that’s what the bear was called, a terror bear.’ He didn’t know the name of the beast after seeing it the first time and wasn’t able to find information about it in any of the books in Alex’s room, he was enlightened after Owen mentioned the name of the bear species.
But Owen didn’t stop there as he talked nonstop on their way to the office and Alex kept getting enlightened.
It turned out that the reason why this species of bear was called terror bears was because their strength didn’t follow logic; they were always stronger than their rank.
If a terror bear was at the common rank, it would have the strength of a magic beast at the mutated rank!
It was the same for the following ranks after the common beast rank, they were always stronger than they appeared.
Alex learned from Owen that him killing this bear was the same as killing a beast at the transformed rank!
What was a transformed rank magic beast? It was a calamity that could bring destruction to Balon City if one appeared!
It would take up to five mages at the Master mage rank to work together just to kill it!
Alex was inwardly shocked after learning this, he realized that he had done a job that would require five mages of the same rank as him.
’No wonder I was fighting with my life on the line.’
