Betrayed by Fiance, Embraced by Hidden Tycoon-Chapter 94: His Stubbornness Similar To Sawyer
Chapter 94: His Stubbornness Similar To Sawyer
Abigail can hardly believe her luck. She has become friends with Andy Bennet, the CEO of the country’s top company.
If Andy Bennet’s die-hard fans discovered this, they might try to track her down, hoping to get Andy Bennet’s private phone number from her.
Although Abigail feels proud of this privilege, she is also concerned that knowing Andy Bennet personally could lead to complications in the future.
She won’t tell anyone about it for now because her relationship with Andy Bennet is just a client; he is not her friend.
...
Three hours flew by so fast, but the discussion between Abigail and Andy Bennet was still intense.
Abigail and Andy Bennet continued to discuss the second project, an interior design project for his private condominium, in great detail. During their friendly conversation, they also enjoyed lunch together.
They also talked about Abigail’s plans in the industry as both an architect and interior designer.
Andy Bennet offered Abigail a job at his company, but she politely declined. Her refusal was not due to a lack of interest; it was because Sawyer had opened her eyes to the possibility of starting her own company.
Abigail plans to open her studio to handle only design projects, like the ones she currently collaborates on, such as Andy Bennet’s personal housing project.
Before long, as her work shift approached, Abigail excused herself, needing to rush to the café to assist Lana.
"Andy, thank you for today’s lunch and this contract. I’m very grateful for your offer," Abigail said with a smile, lightly touching the contract folder beside her. She still felt surreal about the generous payment for the interior design job; she received $25,000. If Andy required revisions, he would pay an additional fee.
She had never received such a payment before when she worked exclusively at Urbandgrid Innovation, where she primarily drew for them to secure contractor projects, not just for design.
"You deserve it, Abigail. You are talented, and I genuinely like your style," Andy Bennet praised her sincerely.
"Thanks..." Abigail stood from her seat and grabbed her bag. "Andy, I’m sorry I can’t stay longer. I need to go somewhere for my next schedule."
Andy’s disappointment slowly appeared in his gaze upon hearing that they would part ways now. However, he hurriedly adjusted his expression and smiled at her.
Seeing his reluctance to stand up, Abigail faintly chuckled, "Well, I believe you still have so much work, right?"
"I’m not that busy, Abigail. I pay many people to work for me. I just make sure they work properly. So there’s no need to worry." Andy Bennet returned her smile and prepared to leave the room with her.
Abigail laughed as they walked outside the VIP room. However, her laughter subsided when she noticed the third floor was empty, just like when she arrived before lunchtime. ’Did he book this entire floor for our meeting?’
"Abigail, where are you going? I’ll take you there," Andy Bennet’s voice snapped Abigail from her thoughts.
She turned to him as they walked out of the elevator toward the main entrance. Seeing Andy leading her to a Maybach parked in front of the restaurant, with a chauffeur opening the back door, she halted her steps.
Andy Bennet frowned slightly when he noticed Abigail’s reluctance to ride in his car.
"Andy, thank you for your offer, but I can walk to my workplace in the next block," Abigail politely declined, worried about burdening him. She only needed to walk a few minutes to reach the Crimson Leaf Café.
"I thought you were going back home," Andy Bennet replied, gesturing for his driver to close the car door.
"I have to go to work in this area," she explained.
"Alright, then I’ll walk you there. Let’s go," Andy said excitedly as he stepped to her side. However, he stopped again when he noticed Abigail still standing still. "Why, Abby? You don’t want me to walk you there?" he asked.
Abigail smiled faintly as she looked at Andy Bennet, who seemed eager to walk with her. She knew she couldn’t refuse him; his stubbornness reminded her of her boyfriend, Sawyer.
"I’m okay. But we should walk this way..." Abigail pointed in another direction and started walking, causing Andy to adjust his pace to match hers quickly.
Once Andy walked beside her, Abigail asked, "Are you sure you don’t have work to take care of?" She was concerned that he had just taken time away from work to meet her today.
Andy glanced at her briefly, a barely noticeable smile forming on his lips, before replying, "Thank you, Abigail, for your concern about my schedule." Her care for him made him feel good.
Abigail was momentarily left speechless but said nothing, only quickening her steps.
He continued, "Well, I’m heading to the airport for a flight to another city. I have a dinner meeting there. So you don’t have to worry about me, Abigail."
She silently sighed, "Have a safe flight, Andy. And don’t worry about the project; I’ll finish my design within a week."
As they walked, Abigail suddenly remembered Sawyer. She had not checked her cell phone since leaving her house. ’Did he reply to my text?’ she wondered.
...
Later,
Abigail finally stopped near her café, at the building next to it, where Sawyer usually waited for her.
"You work here?" Andy Bennet glanced at the twenty-story office building before turning to look at her.
Abigail shook her head. She hesitated to stop right in front of her café, worried that Lana and the others might see Andy Bennet walking with her and then bother her with their curiosity.
She already felt uncomfortable walking with him; a few onlookers stared at them, clearly noticing that the famous and the most handsome CEO, Andy Bennet, was walking with an unknown girl. She was relieved that no one had taken photos, or her face might have become a trending topic on social media.
"Nope. But there..." Abigail pointed at the Crimson Leaf Café. "Sorry, I can’t bring you there, Andy. My friends might freak out if they find out I know you in person." She chuckled when she noticed him nod slightly.
Andy Bennet smiled, understanding what she meant, but moments later, his smile slowly faded. He was stunned to learn that Abigail worked for one of Silverstone Group’s subsidiary companies.
