[BL] Dear Hushand, I want divorce-Chapter 108: I’m your idiot
Chapter 108: I’m your idiot
Ash sat nervously on the sofa, his heart pounding in his chest. His fingers were tightly intertwined with Elijah’s, the only source of comfort in the tense atmosphere. His eyes remained glued to the floor as he tried to steady his breathing.
This was it—the moment of truth. Ash and Elijah had finally decided to tell Grandpa about their relationship.
Elijah squeezed Ash’s hand reassuringly, but Ash’s mind kept racing. What if Grandpa doesn’t accept us? What if he can’t understand two men in a relationship? What if this ruins everything?
Taking a deep breath, Ash finally spoke up, his voice trembling, "Grandpa, there’s something we need to tell you."
Grandpa sat in his armchair, his gaze calm but unreadable. His eyes flickered between Ash and Elijah, waiting for them to continue.
Ash’s grip tightened on Elijah’s hand, and he forced himself to continue, "Elijah and I...we’re together. We love each other." He swallowed hard, his voice wavering with vulnerability. "I know it might seem strange to you, and I understand if it’s hard to accept...but we want your blessing. I want your blessing."
For a long moment, there was silence. The room seemed to hold its breath. Ash’s heart felt like it was about to break as he watched Grandpa’s expression, which remained unreadable.
Then, Grandpa let out a deep sigh, shaking his head slowly. "I can’t believe this," he muttered, his voice heavy with disappointment.
Ash felt his chest constrict. His vision blurred with unshed tears as his worst fears were confirmed. He had never felt this much pain and panic all at once. His stomach twisted in knots, and his throat felt like it was closing up. He opened his mouth to apologise, to plead, but nothing came out.
Elijah immediately moved closer, ready to defend them both, his hand resting protectively on Ash’s shoulder. "Grandpa, please, just listen—"
But before Elijah could say anything more, Grandpa’s face suddenly broke into a wide grin, and a deep, hearty laugh erupted from him. He leaned back in his chair, clutching his stomach as he laughed harder than they had ever seen him laugh.
Ash blinked in disbelief, his tears now frozen in confusion. "Wha...What?"
Grandpa finally calmed down, wiping a tear from his eye as he chuckled. "Oh, boy, you should’ve seen the look on your face! I haven’t had a laugh like that in years!"
Ash’s mouth fell open in shock. "Grandpa!" he exclaimed, both in relief and frustration. "You—! You were pretending?"
Grandpa grinned, clearly enjoying himself. "Of course, I was. I knew about you two long before you even thought about telling me."
Ash was stunned, his emotions now a confusing mix of shock, relief, and anger. "H-How did you know?" he stammered.
Grandpa chuckled again, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Son, I’ve been around long enough to see the way two people look at each other when they’re in love. You and Elijah? You weren’t exactly subtle. The way you looked at him—any fool could’ve seen it. And then when Elijah came around looking for you, all that worry and pain in his eyes...I knew then that it wasn’t just friendship between you two."
Ash stared at his grandpa in disbelief, feeling a little foolish for thinking they could hide their relationship from him. He exchanged a glance with Elijah, who was shaking his head with a fond smile.
"Why didn’t you say anything?" Ash asked, feeling his heart lighten.
Grandpa shrugged, still grinning. "I figured you boys would tell me when you were ready. I wasn’t about to pry into your business." He leaned forward, resting his hands on his knees as he looked at both of them. "But let me make one thing clear. I don’t care who you love—man, woman, makes no difference to me. What I care about is that you’re happy. And if Elijah’s the one who makes you happy, then you have my blessing. You’ve had it from the start."
Ash’s eyes welled up again, but this time they were tears of joy. He felt Elijah’s hand squeeze his again, and without thinking, Ash leaped from the sofa and threw his arms around his grandpa.
"Thank you, Grandpa," Ash whispered, his voice thick with emotion as he hugged him tightly. "Thank you so much."
Grandpa patted Ash’s back gently, his own smile softening. "You’re my grandson, Ash. Your happiness is all that matters to me."
Ash pulled back, wiping at his eyes as he smiled through the tears. He felt lighter than he had in years. Elijah stood up from the sofa, coming to stand beside Ash with a warm, grateful smile on his face.
"Thank you, sir," Elijah said sincerely, offering his hand to Grandpa.
Grandpa eyed Elijah’s hand for a moment before shaking his head with a smirk. Instead of taking Elijah’s hand, he stood up and pulled him into a gruff, affectionate hug. "No need for formalities."
Elijah was caught off guard for a second, but then he returned the hug, smiling. "Thank you."
When Grandpa pulled back, he gave them both a playful look. "But don’t think this gets you out of helping me around the house just because you’re in love. You’re still going to be pulling your weight around here."
Ash laughed, the sound full of relief and happiness. "We wouldn’t have it any other way."
Moments later Ash went to make dinner for everyone to celebrate their patch up.
He stood at the stove, focused on stirring the pot, but every few minutes, he felt a familiar presence behind him—a presence that sent a shiver of warmth through his body.
"Elijah," Ash sighed, trying to hide the smile creeping onto his lips as he felt strong arms wrap around his waist from behind. "I’m trying to cook here."
Elijah’s breath was warm against the back of his neck as he nuzzled closer, placing soft kisses along Ash’s shoulder. "I know," Elijah murmured. "But I can’t keep my hands to myself when you look so cute doing it."
Ash chuckled, his cheeks tinged pink. He tried to focus on the task at hand, but Elijah’s lips trailed over his neck, teasing him in the most distracting way possible. "I need to finish this before Grandpa gets too hungry."
Elijah’s grip tightened slightly as he pressed his lips to the curve of Ash’s neck. "Dinner can wait," he whispered playfully, his fingers grazing the hem of Ash’s shirt before slipping underneath to touch his warm skin.
Ash couldn’t help but laugh softly, the sound filled with affection. He leaned back into Elijah’s embrace for a moment, enjoying the warmth of his body before pulling away. "If you keep distracting me like this, we’ll never eat."
Elijah grinned, his eyes gleaming mischievously.
But Elijah didn’t go far. Every few moments, he would reach over, stealing a quick kiss on Ash’s cheek or brushing his fingers against Ash’s arm, making him blush even more. Finally, Ash turned to face him, shaking his head with mock exasperation.
"You’re just like you were when I was your secretary," Ash teased, crossing his arms over his chest. "Always harassing me while I tried to do work."
Elijah smirked, leaning against the counter, his arms crossed as he gave Ash a look that was equal parts amused and heated. "I wasn’t harassing you. I was just...making sure you didn’t work too hard and tire yourself."
Ash snorted, rolling his eyes. "Is that what you called it? You’d come up with any excuse to get me into your office, and half the time, you didn’t even have any work for me to do."
Elijah defended himself, though the smile on his face gave him away. "You were just too distracting. Can you blame me?"
Ash turned back to the stove, shaking his head, but he couldn’t hide the smile pulling at his lips. "You’re hopeless."
"You love me as I am," Elijah said confidently, coming up behind him again. This time, he gently turned Ash around to face him, his hands resting on Ash’s hips as he looked down into his eyes. "Admit it."
Ash blushed, feeling that familiar warmth spreading through his chest. He couldn’t deny it. He did love Elijah, hopelessness and all. "Maybe," he said coyly, his voice soft as he looked up at Elijah through his lashes.
Elijah grinned, leaning in closer until their lips were just a breath apart. His voice was low and teasing as he whispered, "Only maybe?"
Ash’s breath hitched as Elijah’s lips brushed against his, a soft, lingering touch that sent a shiver down his spine. He closed his eyes, leaning into the kiss, feeling his heart race as Elijah’s hands slid up to cup his face.
But just as their kiss deepened, a loud cough interrupted them.
They jumped apart, both turning quickly to see Grandpa standing in the doorway, a smug grin on his face. "Am I interrupting something?" he asked, though the twinkle in his eyes showed that he knew exactly what he had interrupted.
Ash’s face turned bright red, and he quickly turned back to the stove, pretending to stir the pot with sudden intensity. "No, no, we were just...cooking," Ash stammered, trying to sound casual.
Elijah, on the other hand, just chuckled, clearly not embarrassed in the slightest. "You have the best timing, Grandpa."
Grandpa grinned, shaking his head. "I’ve been around long enough to know when to make my entrance." He walked over to the table, sitting down with a smirk. "Now, hurry up with dinner before I really interrupt something."
Ash let out a nervous laugh, glancing at Elijah, who winked at him before moving to set the table. Once Grandpa was settled and distracted, Elijah leaned closer to Ash, whispering in his ear, "At least at the office, no one could disturb us."
Ash bit back a laugh, his face still flushed from the near-kiss. "Yeah, well, who’s handling the office now anyway?" Ash asked playfully as he finished stirring the food. "Ryder?"
There was a brief pause before Elijah responded, and when Ash glanced over at him, he noticed Elijah’s hesitance.
"No one, actually," Elijah said, his voice quieter than before.
Ash blinked in surprise, his hands stilling over the stove. "What do you mean, no one?"
Elijah sighed, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "There’s no company anymore."
Ash’s eyes widened, and he turned to face Elijah fully, his mouth slightly agape. "What? What do you mean there’s no company?"
Elijah met his gaze, his expression serious but soft. "I gave it all away. The company, the money... everything. I didn’t want it anymore. I just want you, Ash. That’s all I need."
Ash stared at him in disbelief. He knew Elijah had changed over the years, but to hear that he had given up everything...It left Ash speechless.
"You did what?" Ash finally managed to say, his voice filled with shock.
Elijah stepped closer, taking Ash’s hands in his, his eyes soft and filled with sincerity. "None of it mattered without you, Ash. I spent so much time chasing things that I thought would make me happy, but it was all meaningless without you by my side. Now that I have you back...that’s all I care about."
Ash’s heart swelled as he looked into Elijah’s eyes. He smiled, tears pricking at the corners of his eyes as he squeezed Elijah’s hands. "You’re an idiot," Ash whispered, though his voice was filled with affection.
Elijah chuckled, pulling Ash closer, pressing a soft kiss to his forehead. "I’m your idiot."
Ash laughed softly, leaning into Elijah’s chest, feeling the warmth of his embrace surrounding him. "Yeah, you are," he whispered, closing his eyes as he let himself fall into the comfort of Elijah’s love. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
Grandpa cleared his throat from the table, his voice breaking through the moment. "Dinner better be ready soon, or I might start thinking you two are planning on skipping it."
Ash laughed, pulling away from Elijah with a fond smile. "We’ll get right to it, Grandpa," he called back, turning back to the stove. But as he stirred the pot, he felt lighter than he had in a long time.
With Elijah by his side, nothing else mattered. They had each other. That was enough.
