Chapter 64: No kissing allowed from now on

Ash’s pov ;

What did I do? Why did I agree to his stupid requests?

I have no idea, but here I am.

In a car.

Headed to God knows where.

We’re driving through winding roads, surrounded by lush greenery and towering mountains. The air outside is cool and crisp, with just a hint of salt from the nearby ocean.

He hasn’t told me where we’re going, no matter how many times I ask. He just smiles and says it’s a surprise. I can feel a knot forming in my stomach as I try to guess what he has planned.

Glancing over at him, I can’t read the expression on his face. He’s focused on the road ahead, but there’s a faint smile playing at the corners of his lips.

I let out a heavy sigh and turned to look out the window. The scenery passing by is stunning, with vibrant flowers blooming along the roadside and exotic birds flying overhead. But my mind is too preoccupied with thoughts of our destination to truly appreciate it.

My original plan was simple: spend this vacation with him as one last reminder of him, then leave quietly. Away from him and all the complications he brings into my life.

After that incident at the hospital, I don’t even recognize myself anymore.

It’s like something broke inside me that day and all my emotions came flooding out, overwhelming and consuming me. I’ve been trying to push them down, to ignore them, but they won’t be silenced any longer.

I feel like a dam that has burst open, drowning me in a sea of pain, sadness, and confusion.

I can’t keep pretending that everything is okay. It’s the same feeling of isolation that I felt as a child, when all I wanted was to be left alone and not have to deal with anyone else’s problems.

So now, I just want to run away and start fresh somewhere far from here. To live a peaceful and normal life without any reminders of the past.

I want to forget everything and everyone, including him. Even though I know it’s impossible.

I used to be blinded by my love for him, constantly seeking his attention and affection. But not anymore. After a long time, I can finally see him clearly for who he really is.

The man sitting next to me is not the kind and caring guy that I fell in love with. He’s selfish, arrogant, and manipulative. And no matter how much I wanted to forgive him before, I can’t do it now.

I have no idea what he’s thinking or planning, but I refuse to let him manipulate me once again. This vacation will be enjoyable, but after that, I will move on with my life and never look back. He won’t get a second chance with me.

That’s my final decision.

"That’s our destination," he says softly, breaking the silence in the car and halting my train of thoughts.

I look up and see that we’ve arrived at a luxurious resort tucked away in a secluded spot overlooking the ocean. The sight of it takes my breath away, and for a moment, my eyes wide with awe, all my worries fade into the background. The building was a magnificent display of intricate architecture, and the surrounding grounds were meticulously landscaped. Every tree and flower seemed to be perfectly placed, creating an inviting atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where one could easily forget all their troubles and just relax.

But I won’t let myself be lured in by its charm. This may be his attempt at reconciliation, but my decision has already been made. He won’t be able to change my mind with fancy resorts and sweet words.

This vacation will only serve as closure for me, an ending to a Chapter in my life that I’m ready to move on from.

"This place is stunning," I exclaimed, unable to tear my gaze away from the resort.

Elijah smiled, his satisfaction evident in his voice. "I’m glad you think so," he replied lovingly. "It truly is one of the best resorts in the area."

My heart skipped a beat at his words. Were we really going to stay here?

He chuckled at my excitement, his eyes sparkling mischievously. "Yes, we are," he confirmed, nudging my shoulder with his own. "Did you think I was just driving around aimlessly? No, darling. I had this planned all along, taking you to the finest resort in the area."

I blushed at his teasing tone, feeling small under his gaze. His eyes held a glint of mischief and desire, making me acutely aware of his bewitching presence.

Suddenly, he leaned towards me, his lips brushing against my ear as he whispered seductively. "Let’s go inside," he murmured huskily. "There’s something I want to show you."

My skin erupted into goosebumps at the sensation of his hot breath on my neck. I involuntarily tilted my head back, giving him more access. My brain screamed at me to stop him, but my body had a mind of its own.

His hand gently grazed my thigh, sending shivers down my spine. It had been too long since I had felt his touch like this.

As his fingers trailed higher up my thigh, I couldn’t help but shudder in anticipation. My eyes fluttered shut as I surrendered to the pleasure of being touched by him again.

He was saying something, but I couldn’t focus on his words. All I could think about was the feeling of his hands on me. I leaned into him, craving more contact.

"Ash, can you hear me?" He pulled back suddenly, and the loss of his touch jolted me back to reality.

My eyes blinked open, dazed from the overwhelming sensations. "Huh?"

"I said," he repeated, his voice deep and husky making me content. "There’s something I want to show you."

I struggled to clear my head, trying to process his words. Oh, right. Something he wants to show me.

"O-Okay," I stammered, still feeling dizzy with desire.

He smirked at my reaction, clearly enjoying the effect he had on me. Handsome jerk!

My gaze nervously flickered to his lips, and I couldn’t help but lick mine in anticipation. He moved closer, the space between us disappearing until his breath was warm against my lips. His heated and burning gaze fell onto my lips and his eyes darkened.

Suddenly, a familiar and intoxicating scent flooded my senses. His cologne- my favourite - filled my nose and memories flooded back. It had been so long since I last smelled it.

He licked his lips, his eyes dark with desire. However, before he could act on it, I pushed him away with force.

"Stop it," I snapped, feeling my cheeks flush with anger and embarrassment. He gave me a confused look, but I stood firm. "You can’t kiss me until you win your deal."

His face fell, frustration evident on his features. "Fine," he grumbled, sounding like a sulky child.

Despite my annoyance, I couldn’t help but smile at his reaction. He was always so easily affected - quick to get frustrated, but just as quick to get over it. It was one of the many things that irritated me about Elijah. But seeing him sulk and pout was something new.

I refused to admit it, but he was kind of... adorable.

A giggle escaped my lips before I could stop it. I bit down on my lip, trying to contain my laughter, but Elijah noticed.

His eyes widened and his face became even more sulky. "Don’t laugh at me," he whined. "I feel embarrassed enough as it is. But seriously, can’t you at least permit me to kiss you once or twice?"

I smiled at him and shook my head. "No, not even once."

"But why?" he pleaded.

"Because I’m the one who’s supposed to forgive you," I explained firmly. "Not the other way around. So, I get to decide when you’re allowed to kiss me."

As he sat in the car, arms crossed and a pout on his face, he reminded me of a sulking child who had been denied their favourite treat. With an exasperated roll of my eyes, I opened the car door and stepped out onto the pavement.

"Come on," I said impatiently, motioning for him to join me. "I’m eager to see what you have prepared."

He stared at me for a moment longer before a mischievous gleam appeared in his eyes.

"What are you looking at?" I asked, furrowing my brow. "Hurry up and get out of the car."

"Fine," he grumbled, reluctantly emerging from the vehicle.

"By the way, did you bring any extra clothes with you?" He asked casually as he closed the car door.

I stopped in my tracks and shot him a suspicious glare. "Why would I need extra clothes?"

He smirked at me, his eyes dancing with amusement. "You’ll see," he replied cryptically.

Letting out an exasperated groan and rolling my eyes once again, I couldn’t help but feel a growing sense of nervousness at his words.

And the way he was looking at me only added to that feeling-- like I was the only person in the world to him. It made my heart race and I couldn’t deny the fluttering sensation in my stomach.

It’s hard to believe this is the same man who used to torment me with cruel pranks. His transformation is both astounding and unsettling. It’s like he’s become someone completely different - someone dangerous and unpredictable.

Despite his childish demeanour, I know better than to let my guard down around him. I’ve learned firsthand how skilled he is at manipulating others.

Now, as we make our way towards whatever surprise he has in store for me, I can’t help but wonder what game he’s playing now.
