Chapter 63: Money 1

Weeks went by quickly after the M-fresh incident.

Superhuman Monitoring Bureau took a special interest in the case and scoured the area. However, Thunder Emperor and the military stopped their investigation dead in its tracks.

The reason was the smuggled void stones and the presence of demons. While SMB had the right to investigate the unlawful activities of superhumans, they did not have the power to force the military to provide evidence.

Thus, no one connected Oliver to the incident.

The only few who knew about his presence remained silent until the end.

In an unusual posture, Oliver lay on the couch to watch the news, his leg elevated on the headrest and his head dropped towards the floor – the exact opposite of how one would typically sit.

"He he he..." He giggled like a madman, watching the screen.

Currently, the news about the incident is being shown. They were speaking about the corruption inside M-fresh and their connection to demons.

While they hid all the information about Indra, Oliver knew he had planted a seed of doubt that day. Now, he just had to water it and wait until the seed turned into a giant tree.

’The damned Indra would be tied up by this incident.’ Oliver was pleased with his handiwork.

The damage and destruction he caused were not his concern at all. He never held an ounce of sympathy for his enemies.

"Sit properly." Suddenly, a broom smacked him on the feet. Then the owner of the broom asked, "What are you giggling about?"

It was Oliver’s mother, Maya.

She was not thrilled to see her son act like a fool. But what could she do, except love the and care for the fool. After all, it was her son.

"Nothing!" Oliver replied with a cursory glance.

"Hey, couch potato, you are about to grow roots. Stand up and walk around." She sighed and said when she noticed he was ignoring her.

For the past few weeks, since the M-fresh incident, Oliver was lazing around the house like shut in. He rarely goes around to buy snacks and often stays in the room to play with his computer.

He had seemingly returned to his past self. Just like how he was before the military training.

"Oh!" Oliver answered indifferently.

This lit a fire within Maya.

"You!"

*Smack*

She smacked him again and forced him to stand up.

"Mom!"

"Shut and go back to your room. I have to clean here." She scolded.

"Ah! Sigh!" Oliver didn’t dare to speak back once he realised she was mad.

He let out a defeated sigh and walked away.

Arguing with his mother was a bad idea. He silently went back to his room to find his phone.

His phone was placed near the computer to charge. He wanted to scroll through today’s news to see if he had missed anything.

But he noticed a notification from the anonymous email service he was using.

He immediately clicked it and entered his password to read the email.

The sender was using a random email.

"The bounty amount is deposited into your crypto account. Check it." No more detail was provided.

Oliver immediately knew who the email was from. Other than Grizzly, no one would send a message to his email address.

Oliver smiled and quickly opened his crypto wallet.

Immediately, he noticed the large sequence of numbers.

"11,578,000 creds in crypto," Oliver muttered when he saw the conversion value right next to the large sequence of numbers.

Ten million was the bounty. And the rest were proceeds from the sales of the Tempus Cult assets.

Although he could get the bounty money within a day, Oliver made Grizzly move it through untraceable accounts before sending it to him. That way, he could have plausible deniability if someone found out about it.

That’s why it took weeks before it was debited into his account.

"I am rich," Oliver muttered.

The house his family was living in was worth just one and a half million creds. If we wanted, he could close the bank loan and finally own the house.

’I could pay back the loan. Buy a car. Send my brother to college. Pay to set up the mushroom business my father wanted, and even have enough money to buy another house.’ Oliver thought.

Ten million was a lot for an ordinary person.

However, when you consider his occupation as a superhuman, the money was not worth mentioning.

The latest combat armours, weapons, tools, and other items would all cost an arm and a leg. If you add on exo suits and flying cars to the list, it’s better not even to think about it.

The costliest things money could buy these days are items related to superhumans.

For example, an entire mech, the weakest kind, would cost anywhere from 100 million to 150 million creds.

A carrier vehicle for the mech would cost just as much.

And if you want to buy the latest with the best add-on, it could easily cost a billion creds.

A BILLION CREDS!!!

It was a stupidly large amount of money that you can’t even think about.

Still, there are organizations out there buying and selling mech daily.

When he considered all that, the eleven million he had on his account felt like chump change.

"Maybe I should stop thinking," Oliver muttered and sat down.

Although he was technically rich, he realised he was also technically poor.

Spending money randomly was not a wise choice.

It would be better to make more from it.

Simply put, money was a tool he could use to make more money. And thinking about it, he knew just the place he should invest in. free𝑤ebnovel.com

Oliver thought about Root, his friend. Root’s father was currently working on finding a technique to stabilise QCMs. Once he finds it, the business would become a cash cow that would smother him in money.

If the opportunity arises, it would be best to invest in it.

Although there would be a lot of hindrances to the business, it was something he had to solve in the first place.
