Blood Nemesis-Chapter 74: Recruiter 2
Chapter 74: Recruiter 2
"Nova rift?" Oliver acted surprised.
"Yes!" Leon nodded and welcomed him in.
"Hello." Oliver greeted Yuna and her assistant politely as he walked in.
Meanwhile, Yuna gazed at him in doubt and confusion.
Nothing!
There was nothing!
She couldn’t sense any of his emotions. Yuna was surprised by the unexpected situation.
Most people who met her for the first time wouldn’t know of her ability. So, they wouldn’t try to hide their emotions in front of her. And even if they did, they would most likely fail due to her high control over her ability.
And yet, she couldn’t sense anything from the person before her.
Oliver looked like a young man in his late teens.
From what Leon had said, they were of same age.
There was no way a person at that age could hide their emotions this well.
Was he a psychopath? She asked herself in confusion.
Only psychopaths could hide emotions that well.
It was not every day that you would meet a psychopath. Should she dig deeper? Another question appeared in her mind.
Maybe not!
She calmed herself and adjusted her posture.
"Hello, nice to meet you." She returned the greeting.
"Ah! Yes." Oliver walked closer to Leon’s side and stood, ignoring Clara.
"What were you talking about?" He asked.
"They said they want to recruit me," Leon answered.
"I expected that." Oliver nodded and turned to look at Yuna.
Truth be told, Nova Rift was a great guild to join if the situation persists.
They were ranked third in the world and had good relationships with almost all countries and organisations.
For Leon, it was a great chance.
But that’s only if the situation persists.
Currently, Nova Rift has 4 S rankers and plenty of resources.
However, one of them would die and would be replaced with Indra. From then on, the downward trend would continue for the guild. From being ranked third in the world, they would slip to sixth.
Although they would climb up the ranks, by that time, they would lose their core identity of being a guild where anyone could thrive. It would be filled with Indra and his cronies.
In short, Indra was like a parasite using the guild as his host to grow, just like his demon friends.
So, joining them would be bad if you are looking at it from a long-term perspective.
"Did you decide to join them?" Oliver turned around and asked Leon.
"Not yet. We were talking about the benefits..." Leon was shy.
He was never at the center of attention before. This was the first time he was being recognised.
"That’s great. Don’t join them." Oliver didn’t mince his words at all.
He said that while the recruiters from Nova Rift were right in front of him.
Yuna’s eyebrows lifted up when she heard him speak so confidently.
Who was he?
Why was he interfering with their job?
Is he a real psychopath?
Can he defend against my ability?
Was he working for some other guild?
A thousand questions came to her mind, but she suppressed them all and waited. By the looks of it, she won’t have to say anything.
Yuna could see the emotions of everyone in the room, except Oliver’s.
And among them, one of them was getting angrier by the second after Oliver came.
"Hey! Who are you to say he can’t join them?" Clara raised her voice and asked.
Her explosive temper was acting up again.
"Just because you met for a day and called each other friends doesn’t make you important. This is a decision that could change his life. So, who are you to interfere?" She asked while furiously looking at Oliver. In her mind, Oliver was destroying the opportunity Leon had for greatness.
’Ah! Would the dumb bitch even understand if I give her an explanation? To them, the future might be a sea of possibilities that diverge into unpredictable branches. But to me, someone who saw the future, it was the exact opposite.’
’Everything would fall apart until demons destroy this world.’ Oliver said in his mind.
And Clara was pushing Leon to the side of the demons to be manipulated and used.
"Not-that-pretty sister has a point. I am nobody." Oliver agreed.
His words struck a chord, making Clara bite her lips. If there was a face for frustration and anger, it would be her’s.
’What gives her confidence?’
Oliver couldn’t understand why she would even dare to show anger to a superhuman.
If he wants, he could wipe the floor with a million of hers without breaking a sweat.
’Does she really believe in the laws and rules of the world?’
Anyway, he couldn’t care less about what she thought.
So, he continued to speak,
"But does she know that Nova Rift has strict contracts and would often sideline people who are deemed untalented by them? And the contract period can extend up to dozens of years. Did you even read the contract?" He asked.
"We were about..."
"I thought you knew everything when you yelled at me?"
Clara tried to speak, but Oliver immediately shot her down. He certainly was a rude person.
"I..."
"Don’t bother finding an excuse. It’s not like I am your enemy. I, too, want what’s best for Leon." Oliver didn’t give her a chance at all.
For people like that, he had limited patience. Suppressing them with a louder voice was the best option since reason would rarely work on them.
"Nurse, you should get back to your job."
"I am. Um!" She turned to Leon.
Meanwhile, Leon could only vaguely smile.
The situation was not something he asked for.
Clara and the duo from Nova Rift came to the room unexpectedly.
He was finding it troublesome to deal with the situation.
Among everyone in there, only Oliver looked like he was on his side.
Clara was talking without understanding the implications of a contract for a superhuman.
The people from the Nova Rift would obviously like it if he took them at their word and signed the document.
Only Oliver was considering the pros and cons.
"Sister Clara, let’s read the contract first." He said meekly.
