Chapter 73: Recruiter 1

’SMB registration complete.’

’Hero Union registration complete. ID number sent to Achara. I have to appear for the test two months later.’ ƒreewebɳovel.com

’Hunter association registration is also done.’

’Applied for a guild registration and hunting permit. I will get it in a week.’

’I didn’t plan to register a guild. But it happened that way since online registration was possible.’

’One man guild with just me.’

’With a guild, doing business would become easier.’

Oliver hummed a tune and went back to the Unity Hospital.

It took him a while to complete all the chores. Now, he could relax as much as he wanted.

’Almost time I go back to being lazy.’ Oliver thought excitedly.

Nothing gives him more pleasure than lying on the sofa like a molten piece of cheese.

But before that, he had one itty bitty problem to solve.

The repayment of Leon’s debt.

Oliver planned to use his new influence to deal with that.

’I need to send someone imposing and strong to deal with that. Or else, Chen would cause trouble.’ He thought as the bus stopped near the Unity Hospital.

The Hospital didn’t look any different since it had only been a few hours since he left.

The crimson rays from the evening sun cast a long shadow while Oliver walked forward.

He had called Leon before coming, so Oliver swiftly went to the elevator and walked up to the room where his sister was admitted.

By the time he reached the room, he could hear multiple voices coming from inside it.

’Did the crazy nurse Clara come back?’

Oliver remembered how the young lady had reacted when they initially met.

If not for Leon, she would have really tried to slap him.

While getting slapped was an impossible outcome, he realised she was a person with a short fuse.

That was also why he didn’t want to talk in front of her.

’Ah! Again.’ Oliver sighed and opened the door.

In his mind, he was praying that the crazy lady wouldn’t be inside.

But there was no god.

No one was there to hear his prayer and bestow him luck.

Clara was the first person he saw when he opened the door.

She was standing with Leon, chewing on what seemed to be a fruit.

’This...’

However, immediately, he noticed two people sitting on the chair in front of him.

One was a young woman wearing a dark grey jacket and crisp white blouse. It was a meticulously tailored pantsuit, giving her a professional look.

Her short hair bobbed as she quickly turned towards Oliver.

Immediately, he was graced by her pretty face that was covered in mild and simple makeup, refined to highlight her features without being distracting.

’She?’

Oliver felt like he had seen the face before. So, he took a second to dig into his memories.

The steady gaze.

The professional appearance.

The posture of holding authority with grace.

The person was certainly...

"Uh! Oliver. You are here." Before his thoughts could reach a conclusion, Leon spoke up.

It was an embarrassing situation for him. So, he was wearing a foolish smile.

"Yes?" Oliver tilted his head and answered. "And this is?" He asked.

The duo sitting on the chair, the young woman and a man who looked like he was her assistant, were closely monitoring Oliver when he asked the question.

He felt like their eyes were digging into his skin, trying to uncover every detail they could.

For some reason, Oliver, whose skin was thicker than a rhinoceros’s, was feeling uncomfortable.

It was an unfamiliar feeling for him.

The last time he felt something like that was when he was in the presence of an...

Immediately, his eyes stared right back into the eyes of the young woman.

’Now I remember!’

Oliver finally remembered who she was.

The ace recruiter of Nova Rift. An executive and future director of the guild. Kim Yuna.

’No wonder I am feeling uncomfortable.’

An empath can sense the emotions of the person before them. It was an ability in the mental domain.

’Is she trying to read me?’ Oliver smiled when he understood what she was trying to do.

Immediately, he controlled himself.

Examples of emotions are fear, excitement, happiness, sadness, anger, etc.

For a recruiter like Yuna, the ability to read emotions was a god given opportunity.

’Fortunately, she couldn’t read my thought exactly as it is. That’s a plus point.’ He thought.

But in a way, empaths were more annoying than mind readers. For example, if a mind reader has to get access to your memory, they would have to weaken your mental defence and put you in a situation where you would open up. There are requirements to be fulfilled before they can use their abilities on humans because of their higher mental strength.’

’But an empath can come, peek into the mind of a person, and go away without anyone noticing.’

’It’s annoying.’ Oliver thought without showing any of his annoyance.

Oliver didn’t need to think hard to know why such an important person from Nova Rift was within the room.

Obviously, the A-grade talent of Leon had piqued her interest.

Someone with the ability to teleport was always welcomed everywhere, much less a person with a teleport ability and an A-grade talent.

If they trained him well, he could become the next S-ranker of the guild.

Nova Rift was a large guild with tens of thousands of people working for them. And yet, they only had a few A-rank talents within them. A new addition to their guild was always welcome.

’But the main problem with Nova rift is Indra.’ Oliver stepped into the room and thought.

Indra, that son of bitch would find a way to take control of the guild from ground up and finally throw out people that are not helpful to him. Then, it would really become a family business he owns and uses for his benefit.

’People like Yuna would be used and later pushed out of the guild.’

"This is Ms Kim Yuna, a senior recruiter from Nova Rift, and her assistant." Leon introduced them with an embarrassed smile.

The situation was awkward, considering Oliver wanted to help him. But with the appearance of Nova Rift, there was a subtle change in the power dynamics. Oliver was not the only one who could support him.

That was exactly what they were talking about before he came.

’So, why didn’t this meeting happen in the previous life?’ Oliver thought.

’Did Leon reject their offer because of the threat from Chen?’

It was exactly as Oliver had thought. His presence made Leon bold enough to consider other options that could help.
