Chapter 78: Consequence 1

A couple of seconds ago, Oliver had bragged that he had joined the strongest guild in the world.

His very own guild with him as the only member.

At that time, she scoffed it off as a joke.

No one took him seriously.

But now, after her experience, she was doubtful whether he was joking.

S rankers were the strongest fighting power in the world. They were synonymous with the gods of the new era.

And Oliver’s mental representation looked like something that could kill gods.

Along with fear, she was feeling a slight sense of relief that she had come out alive.

"I am good." Yuna buried all her thoughts and said.

"That’s great." Oliver nodded and smiled meaningfully.

It seems like the mental invasion was detected.

’He knows.’

’How could he not know?’

From the information she received, Oliver was just a D-grade talent. But she didn’t believe that anymore.

The talent grade was a mistake.

Overall, his mana level was that of D rank, and his potential was measured to be D grade. But he might have some other mental ability that was not judged.

With a vast and immeasurable mental realm, he was certainly stronger than her.

’Mind-related abilities are rare. I can see why no one would notice.’

’Does that mean he has two abilities?’

’That’s not possible unless he evolved in abilities multiple times.’

’But the evolution of ability takes time and resources. It would be impossible for an eighteen-year-old to develop his abilities into something totally different.’

’Is he possessed by some old ghost?’ Yuna asked herself in doubt.

’Maybe he had high mental resistance.’

Everything related to Oliver was suspicious. But she didn’t dare ask about it.

While they exchanged words, everyone else could see the fear and panic in Yuna’s voice.

Meanwhile, Oliver found it extremely funny.

He knew about the mana being injected into his head.

However, he didn’t care about that at all.

If there was one thing he was proud of, it was his mental defence.

Although the exact reason was unknown, he had never seen someone break through his mental defence and harm him.

So, he was confident that Yuna would also fail.

But, contrary to his expectation, the mental attack found a way to squeeze into his mind.

’No, to be specific, it was not an attack at all.’

Oliver remembered the feeling.

The mana held no intent to harm him. It was barely moving through the surface of his mind to gauge him.

But that’s where it ends.

The moment the mana entered his head, it was pushed out in a millisecond by his body’s natural defence.

He didn’t know about what Yuna had seen, nor did he care.

Yuna couldn’t control minds or read memories.

It was most likely some kind of scanning ability that gauged a person’s emotions. So, he had no reason to be scared.

But the funny thing was that when his mind resisted her mana and pushed it out, she lost control of her body and sprawled onto the floor in an unsightly way.

Her panic, fear, and embarrassment all seemed funny to him.

’You deserve what you got.’ He said in his mind while looking at her. freewёbnoνel.com

The pretty lady was trying her best to hide her embarrassment. Oliver could see her ears turning bright red, like a tomato.

While it was indeed funny, he didn’t have any more time to waste. So, he decided to leave.

Shortly after, he went out of the hospital and called Achara.

He was thinking of solving the debt issue Leon had by using his military influence.

"Ring... Ring..."

The phone rang for a full minute before it was picked up.

"I was about to call you."

The moment the call was accepted, he heard the voice of Achara.

"Why?" Oliver asked.

"There is a situation. Demons are moving the void stones out of the city. We might need your help to track down a few."

"How do you expect me to do that?"

"We have blood samples. You might be able to smell them."

Achara picked up a leaf from the ground and said.

She and her team were chasing an injured demon just outside the city wall. The demon was bleeding as it ran into the forest nearby.

The leaf that she picked up contained the blood of the demon she was chasing.

She twisted the leaf on her hand and looked at it closely while talking with Oliver.

"If it’s bleeding, I might be able to track it."

"It is bleeding. We are chasing it."

"Um..." Oliver wanted to talk about the debt, but he decided to hear her out first. "Can you tell me about the situation in detail?"

"We verified the data you provided and found out the demon’s hideouts. However, somehow the information leaked, and the demons fled before we could get our hands on the smuggled void stones. We are hunting down the ones in the city as we speak, but a few have fled, leaving the city. We don’t have much time to talk." Achara, like someone from the military, precisely conveyed the information.

"To where? Where are they going? Do they have a base outside the city?" Oliver asked.

The area outside the city walls was filled with mutated plants and animals. Although it was less dangerous than the Second Earth, it would not be easy to survive there without a plan, even for demons.

"No. We would have noticed if there were."

Oliver thought for a second and asked, "Are you sure the demons that fled have the void stone?"

"Why do you ask?"

"We’ve seen carrier cases on them. Demons were going to create a private gate with the smuggled void stones. So, when the plan failed, they should have escaped with void stones."

"Can you estimate the amount of void stones they were carrying?" Oliver was focused on the details.

"Less than a hundred grams."

"Just that?"

Oliver asked hurriedly.

"Is there a problem?"

"That’s less than expected. Did you secure the rest before they escaped?"

"There are more?"

Achara lifted her head and looked at the city wall while asking.

When she asked the question, Oliver thought about something that should have happened in the far future.

’Void stones can stabilise the gates. But there was one more use that currently, only demons could exploit.’

Oliver remembered his past life.

In his past life, he had seen void stones being used by demons to create a portal to other worlds.

Natural gates all lead to Second Earth. But, when void stone is destroyed by using pure mana, it could create a gate that links to worlds different from Second Earth.

’But, would they do it?’ He was doubtful.

It would take a huge amount of mana and void stones. It would be a waste to destroy that much void stone to create a temporary gate that would disappear due to mana pressure in an hour or so.

’What if?’ The thought sprouted a seed of doubt in Oliver’s mind.
