’It was a mistake to look into his mind.’

That was the only thought that appeared in Yuna’s mind.

There was no conventional explanation for what she had seen.

Normal people, just like her assistant, would have a mental image of something small and insignificant. But Oliver’s was an ocean of blood with no limits.

She couldn’t even try to decode its meaning.

*Ah!* She winced as her assistant helped her stand up.

The migraine caused by the overuse of her ability felt like someone trying to break into her skull with a chisel. The pain was sharp and periodic, like the beating of a heart.

’I shouldn’t have...’

She regretted trying to peer into his mind.

"Ah! Sorry. I slipped." She avoided the eyes of everyone around her and said.

In the room, except for the unconscious sister of Leon, everyone else was looking at her with an obvious question mark above their head.

’What was it? The monster!’ She sat down while carefully avoiding Oliver’s eyes.

A mental image or a symbol that represents a normal person’s mind would be directly related to all the experience they had. Thus, it will also contain all the emotions they felt during their entire life.

Take, for example, her assistant.

The man was the eldest son of his family who worked hard to join the guild even though he was not a superhuman. His life was all about studying and working. To become better, he had to avoid all the things he loved and concentrate on work all the time.

When Yuna used her ability on this person, what she saw was the man carrying stacks of books on his head and walking aimlessly in a circle.

His mind was showing her a mental representation of the most prominent emotion he felt in his entire life.

It was the fear of being worthless, even after all the pain he went through.

The stacks of books placed on his head were the reason for his confidence and fear.

She could see that in the lifeless eyes of his mental image, there existed a deep feeling of inadequacy even when he reached the position he was in.

Like that, she had used her ability on others to see the full extent of it and gain a better understanding.

Although she was sure that she didn’t know everything about her ability, she knew up to a point that it was useful. That was also why she used it on Oliver.

It was the quickest and easiest way to judge a person’s character.

In the case of her assistant, she saw his deepest fear as the most prominent emotion he felt during his life.

But there were cases when she had seen a woman in a beautiful flower garden as a mental image, showing peace and serenity.

There was also a case where she looked into the mind of a narcissist, where she saw a golden throne in which he sat, showing his self-important nature.

There certainly existed a rule to the mental image she could see. While the image often varied, there were few things she could reliably use to gauge a person’s emotional experience.

For example, all the people she used the ability on had one thing in common.

There existed something humanoid in their mental world that represented their essence.

Usually, the size of the mental representation would be similar in size to a normal human.

How does she know that?

She compares her figure to the size of the mental representation in question to estimate that.

But two factors can cause variance in the size of mental representation.

One was the age of the person in question, and the other was his strength.

Yuna’s figure in a normal person’s mind would look like a ten-foot-tall giant. Similarly, she would look like an ant in an S ranker’s mind.

It was a known feature.

’So, what the heck was the monster?’ Her mind screamed again.

The only S ranker she used the ability on was the guild leader of Nova Rift, who considered her a niece. At that time, his mental image was the size of a ten-story tall building.

The simpler way to say it would be that she was ten feet tall and he was a hundred feet tall.

The difference was huge.

She felt fear from her very essence, gazing at him.

That was when she realised that there would be repercussions to what she was doing.

If she walks into the mind of an enemy, it could retaliate in self-defence and possibly injure or even kill her.

It was the exact reason why she rarely used the ability.

’So, what the heck was that monster?’ She repeated the words in her mind.

The bloody hand that swatted her away like a fly was something so huge and immeasurable that she couldn’t really find a word to describe it. And could feel its emotion at all. The only thing she could remember was the unimaginable dread that she felt while looking at it.

*Sigh*

’Even a S ranker’s mental representation was tiny compared to it.’

*Gulp*

She swallowed nervously and lifted her head.

"Are you okay?"

Everything happened in a few short seconds, and by the time she lifted her head to look around, Oliver was standing right in front of her, asking if she was okay.

The confident and professional image she had built up disappeared as she quickly turned away from him.
