Blood Nemesis-Chapter 87: Arms
Chapter 87: Arms
Deep inside an isolated storage room, the trembling freezer made loud noises. Soon, the bar owner and the new bartender noticed the oddity.
They quickly left their position and came in front of the freezer.
The clicking and scraping noise of something hard, along with a vibrating lock, made them look at it curiously.
"Boss, should I open it?" The bartender asked Grizzly.
The sun had sunk below the horizon, and the red light district was coming alive. With it, new customers were flooding into the bar.
Some came to gamble their money at the poker table behind the bar, while the rest thought of it as a nice place to buy certain black market commodities. Among them all, none really cared about the drinks.
Still, the bartender couldn’t leave his position empty. He was the guide who led the customers to what they wanted. So, Grizzly thought for a second and said.
"No, don’t open it. And you should go back. I will stay here."
"What should I do about the customers?" The bartender asked back.
The black market sale was solely done through Grizzly. Hence, his absence would be noticeable.
"Lead them inside and ask them to wait. I will return soon." He said while scratching his stubble.
"Okay, boss."
The bartender left as soon as he received the order.
Meanwhile, Grizzly’s eyes latched onto the freezer, not moving an inch from his place.
’What exactly is happening inside, Oliver?’ He asked himself.
In his mind, the urge to open the freezer and look inside was growing stronger and stronger. But he shot it down, remembering what Oliver had said.
Grizzly, otherwise known as Daniel, knew about the contents of the freezer. How could he not know when Oliver came to his bar and did what he did?
Grizzly’s mind wandered to the time Oliver came to him with a proposal. In the beginning, he didn’t really mind it.
Oliver was a customer, a trustworthy one at that. Their transactions were often completed with full payment. He had no reason to reject him.
The proposal was simple. To rent a small area in the storage room for his freezer.
Initially, he didn’t pay any attention to it.
But when he knew about what Oliver was filling it with, he freaked out.
Each day, Oliver would come by with nothing in his hand and would stand near the large rectangular freezer, the kind that was designed to store large quantities of meat.
Then, he would wrap a plastic sheet all around and begin his work.
The work as described above was even simpler. He would come to the freezer, open it, and put one of his arms inside.
Then what does he do? He asked Oliver one day.
He simply replied, ’I do just that. Putting my arms inside.’
Eh?
Was this a new kind of kink? Putting arms in the freezer?
Grizzly was amused and confused at the same time.
Question marks appeared over his head when he heard the oddly suspicious answer. So, he patiently waited to see what he was doing.
Immediately, he realised Oliver meant every word he said, literally.
The arms he put inside, he was not taking back.
Every time he came, he would chop down one of his arms and store it inside. Along with it, a tremendous amount of his blood. Then, he would leave, his arms completely healed and regrown with his mysterious ability.
Currently, the entire freezer was filled with more than 80 kg of fresh arms and an ocean of blood.
The reason for storing the arms was not explained to Grizzly, but he knew it played some significant role. Thus, he allowed him to continue.
After a while, when he had stored enough, the freezer was sealed and locked.
Oliver asked to never open it and wait until it opens itself.
’Open itself?’
’Was that possible?’
Grizzly knew Oliver was not telling him about the automation function of the freezer.
"Ah!" Grizzly sighed, looking at the freezer.
Currently, something was certainly trying to open it from the inside, just like Oliver had said.
"I think I should wait and see."
With that thought as an anchor, he waited.
But he didn’t have to wait for long. A minute after the vibration began, the door to the freezer twisted and turned as it was broken from the inside.
And shortly after, a man covered entirely in blood armour walked out. His cold gaze travelled until it stopped over Grizzly.
"Good evening." With a humorous tone, the man spoke.
"Ah! Oliver?" Grizzly asked with his mouth wide open. "Is that you?"
He couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
...And then again, what did he expect?
"Yeah!" Oliver said while twisting his body. "It was cold inside." He added while slowly putting his hand behind the freezer to pull out something.
It was a plastic bag containing his black tracksuit.
"Can you turn around for a second? I am a shy person." He said while releasing his blood armour.
The blood soon flowed back into his body, revealing his pristine body, without any wounds or scars. Technically, it was better than the one he previously had, entirely cloned without any of its defects.
Oliver was satisfied with it. The reason he spent a lot of time preparing a freezer filled with his blood, flesh, and bones was to hasten the healing process. So, everything went exactly as he planned.
If he had not prepared the freezer, his body could have taken anywhere from a few minutes to an hour to recover. Although he could hasten the process by using the blood in the blood sac, it still wouldn’t have been as effective as using his own blood.
Adding to it, the time it took him to travel to the blood blob in dark space was similar to the time he spent in the real world. He couldn’t waste more time, so this was the best possible solution for all his problems.
He was really satisfied with the outcome.
Meanwhile, Grizzly immediately turned around and asked:
"What happened to you? Why are you coming out of the freezer?"
