Blood Nemesis-Chapter 88: Can be killed - Will not die
Chapter 88: Can be killed - Will not die
His confusion made Oliver smile. He unwrapped the plastic bag, took out the pants inside, and wore them while speaking.
"I was killed."
"Killed?"
"Yes."
"But you are alive."
"New body, old me."
"Huh!"
"Well, you see. I can be killed. But I won’t die. Do you understand?"
"Does that even make sense?" Grizzly turned around incredulously.
"It does when you have the ability to revive." Oliver didn’t hide it from Grizzly anymore.
There was no point in hiding it anyway.
"That’s one crazy ability," Grizzly mumbled. "So, you store the blood and arms here to revive if you were killed. That’s it. I get it now."
After the initial shock, everything began to fall into place.
"So, did the demons kill you when you tried to prevent the gate from opening?"
"Yes, that’s correct. There was a friggin peak B rank or A rank demon monkey with them. Fuck. How did they hide it within the city?" Oliver thought back to the disastrous situation and said.
While he was complaining, the phone in Grizzly’s hand began to vibrate. A familiar sound of a siren began to play out of it continuously.
This immediately captured Oliver’s attention.
"Even after everything, the gate seemed to have opened." Grizzly lifted the phone and said.
In it, a gate warning sound was playing.
Displayed on its screen were bold letters of the evacuation order.
Usually, gate brakes would not happen near the permanent gates because all mana flows through the open one, rather than creating new pathways.
Thus, it was generally considered safe around the city, especially the inner city.
So, the government and the Hero union would have been ill-prepared to deal with the situation. Even the evacuation order would have been delayed.
However, due to Oliver’s interference, they expected the gate to break and were prepared. Everyone near the gate was evacuated, and the area was sealed before calamity struck.
Heroes, military personnel, and even hunters would all be rushing towards the gate to deal with the situation right now.
"Considering everything, I was a great help, right?" Oliver zipped up the tracksuit jacket while speaking. "Now, I should probably go there and show my face. I don’t want them to think I am dead."
After a short pause, he asked Grizzly. "Can you get me a phone? I want to call home and say I am okay."
"Sure." Grizzly led Oliver out of the storage room.

A few minutes ago, Achara broke out of the sedative effects of the demon monkey’s poison. She stumbled around as she lifted her body and walked forward, towards the pit.
However, before she could move any further, the soldiers entered the sewer tunnel and lit it up.
The bright mana flashlights attached to their rifles pointed forward and finally displayed the sorry figure of Achara, limping towards the pit.
They immediately noticed her condition and ran up to her.
"Achara, are you okay?" The leader of the team of soldiers stepped forward and asked.
The team of soldiers was part of the demon-hunting squad created by the Thunder Emperor. They were a division working separately under the military, outside the bounds of their laws, rules, and regulations.
Thus, they had no army ranks. All of the higher-ranking soldiers were called squad leaders, capable of leading a team.
Achara was one step above the leader, a special combatant without a team.
Still, they were familiar with each other, so he called out to her and rushed forward.
"I am fine. There is a demon down there. It took Oliver. He saved me. But it took him and dove into the pit." She stumbled and touched the dirty walls of the sewer and said.
It was not exactly the truth. Actually, Oliver was the one who pulled the monkey into the pit. But, considering the situation, it was impossible for her to know it.
Anyway, this time, she was not concerned about the dirt and filth inside the sewer tunnels. She wanted to move forward desperately and find him.
The pain and guilt were swallowing her as she spoke.
Although the situation was hopeless, she wanted to find Oliver.
"The Oliver who came with us during the Research Outpost mission?"
"Yes, he was dragged in."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I am." She said, frustrated, trying to explain every detail.
Why don’t they believe her?
Meanwhile, the face of the squad leader grew grim. The reality forced him to give the bad news.
"No, we can’t go down, the gates are about to open. The EMP pulses are frying electronic devices. We can’t go any further. We have to prepare for the gate break." He said firmly.
The high-intensity EMP pulses were a sign that the gate was about to open.
Fortunately, their flashlights could be powered with mana from their body. If not, coming down and searching for Achara wouldn’t have been possible.
The situation was getting worse as they spoke. They need to leave. In a minute or so, the entire area was about to be overturned by spatial fluctuations.
The sewers and tunnels connecting everything were going to be destroyed. Monsters or mana beasts would soon rush out, making the situation even worse.
They came down this far because of pure luck. Searching for Oliver in this situation was impossible.
"But..." Achara, lost in thought, mumbled. She wanted to resist her instinct and go further.
"ACHARA, snap out of it." The squad leader shook her body.
He added, observing the condition of her body. "You are too weak to fight right now."
"But I can do it."
"Do you want to make his sacrifice worthless? He saved you, and yet you want to throw your life away?" The squad leader’s every word felt like a slap falling on her cheeks.
Achara couldn’t find words to deny it.
"But..."
Still, she tried to resist.
But the squad leader supported her by the shoulder and pulled her up. They were going to leave anyway, taking her along irrespective of her opinion.
Achara finally gave up on resisting as her fatigued body was pulled up from the sewers.
Deep down, she, too, knew there was no way Oliver could have survived. Instead of putting the entire team in danger because of her whims, she decided to accept fate.
