Chapter 455

Shwooong!

Meteors were raining down from the sky.

”...!”

”...!”

”...!”

Everyone gathered at the Canyon Gorge was stunned by the falling meteors, but nobody attempted to run away.

What was going to change even if they tried to flee? They were going to get swept away by the impact of the meteors before they managed to get far. It was the same as if a nuclear missile was falling on top of their heads. It was highly likely they would not even attempt to run away and just accept their fate.

”Oh my god...” Daode Tianzun muttered while stunned, looking at the meteors.

‘How can someone cast a spell like Meteor Swarm without any signs of it?!’

Daode Tianzun had reached the pinnacle of magic and was an Arch Mage, which was equivalent to a Grand Master, but even he had a hard time believing what he was witnessing right now.

Meteor Swarm was a spell that required a long casting time and ample preparation to use, and casting such a powerful spell was bound to stir up the mana in the air.

After all, the spell would use the mana in the air to drag the meteors in outer space plummeting toward the earth, and such a thing happening without any signs could only be considered as overpowered.

Thus, it was absolutely normal for Daode Tianzun to be stunned when such a massively powerful spell was cast without him sensing it.

However, just because he failed to notice it did not mean he was any lesser than whoever cast the spell. He was Daode Tianzun, after all.

Chwaaaak! Wooooong!

A barrier that looked as if it was made of glass spread around Daode Tianzun, and it continued to spread until it covered the entire Canyon Gorge.

As expected of an Arch Mage! Daode Tianzun summoned a barrier that spread throughout the entire area without even having to cast it.

— Don’t move! Don’t do anything!

His voice boomed throughout the entire gorge.

Shwoooong!

The meteors crashed into the barrier formed by Daode Tianzun.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

More than two hundred meteors crashed into the barrier, and that sight could only be described as spectacular. it was as if the world’s greatest fireworks show was happening right above their heads!

“Kyuuuu! Explosion! It’s exploding right above us!” Hamachi cried out while enjoying the fireworks.

The barrier formed by Daode Tianzun was powerful enough to withstand the onslaught of the Meteor Swarm. freewe(b)novel.c(o)m

‘C-Crazy...! What the hell is going on all of a sudden?!’

Meanwhile, Siegfried was not in the mood to spectate the fireworks like Hamch.

The fact that the Meteor Swarm was cast meant that the Church of Osric was expecting this attack one hundred percent, and this could only mean that...

‘We had a leak somewhere...’

The fact that the enemy was waiting for them was proof that Cheon Woo-Jin’s fears had come true, and it was evidence of just how vast the network of the Church of Osric was.

Was there any place on the continent they had not infiltrated?

The Meteor Swarm ended while Siegfried was busy thinking about the information leak, and Daode Tianzun’s barrier disappeared shortly after, too.

However, that was merely the beginning of the battle...

”It’s the Sky Fortress! The Sky Fortress has appeared!”

A landmass with a fortress on top of it emerged from behind the lords and...

”D-Dragon! That’s a dragon!”

A dragoon around ten kilometers long with an imposing aura made its appearance along with the Sky Fortress.

[Dark Snake Agareth]

[A monster transported from another world by the Church of Osric.]

[It resembles a long dragon with four legs depicted in Eastern cultures, and it is powerful enough to destroy an entire country all alone.]

[Agareth is the brother of the Lightning Snake, Python that had once descended upon the continent.]

[Type: Monster]

[Race: N/A]

[Level: 650]

[Class: Void Bringer]

Shockingly, the dragon flying around the Sky Fortress was the brother of the Lightning Snake, Python.

***

“Oh my god! Why is such a monster here?!” Daode Tianzun exclaimed out of shock for the second time.

Just how much destruction did the Lightning Snake, Python, wreak throughout the continent when it descended ages ago?

In fact, the city where the Lightning Snake, Python, descended upon was completely destroyed and had become known as the Sohoca Ruins.

The Sohoca Ruins were once home to a sprawling civilization, but it was now nothing more than a lair for all sorts of monsters. Who would have imagined such a creature was going to appear once again on the continent?!

”Kyaaaaaaaaaaak!”

The Dark Snake, Agareth, unleashed an ear-splitting cry before flying toward the Canyon Gorge.

”Siegfried! I, Decimato, and Betelgeuse will stop that thing, so take the others with you and go to the Sky Fortress!” Daode Tianzun shouted.

“W-Will you be alright?!” Siegfried shouted in response.

”No! We won’t be! But what other option do we have?! The three of us will try to stop that monster, so hurry up and destroy the altar!”

”But...!”

”Hurry!” Daode Tianzun shouted upon noticing Siegfried's hesitation.

”Yes, elder-nim.”

In the end, Siegfried was forced to listen to Daode Tianzun’s advice. free(w)ebnov(e)l

”Betelgeuse! Decimato!”

”Yes, hyung-nim!”

“Yes, Master!”

Betelgeuse and Decimato instantly replied to Daode Tianzun’s call.

”Let’s go! I’ll need your help against that monster!” Daode Tianzun said as he started gathering his mana.

Wooooong!

A mana storm so powerful raged as soon as the Arch Mage gathered his mana, and numerous spells were cast simultaneously.

”Everyone! Board the airships at once!” Beowulf shouted.

The airship prepared to take off and ferry everyone to the Sky Fortress.

Siegfried boarded his airship, but he could not help but feel that something was off about this mission. ‘I have a bad feeling about this... If our forces get divided like this, then...’

The fact that they already lost two Grandmasters and one Master before even stepping foot on the Sky Fortress was a huge blow to their firepower.

It was inevitable for them to stay behind to stop the Agareth, but that did not change the fact that it was still a huge blow to them.

However, Siegfried did not have the luxury to worry, as the Super Airship, Huracan, took off and flew toward the Sky Fortress.

The numerous airships flew in the sky, leaving behind Daode Tianzun, Betelgeuse, and Decimato behind the Dark Snake, Agareth.

***

The Huracan showed off its speed as it led the flight toward the Sky Fortress.

Swoooosh!

— Numerous hostile spotted up ahead!

— We will clash with them!

— Prepare the cannons!

— Ready to fire at a moment’s notice!

— This could get messy! Get ready for an aerial battle!

Siegfried looked out the window the moment he heard the transmission.

“Damn! What now?!”

Siegfried was shocked by what he was seeing.

The sky outside had been blotted out along with the sun.

[Magnus Gargoyle]

[The strongest species among gargoyles. It is extremely strong in aerial battles.]

The enemies covering the sky were monsters called Magnus Gargoyles. They were as large as a light aircraft with two wings like that of a bat on their backs.

They did not look that threatening nor imposing, but the problem was their sheer numbers.

”Why the hell are there so many of them?!” Siegfried exclaimed after seeing the number of gargoyles.

The monsters numbered roughly one thousand. But what was going to happen if the one thousand Magnus Gargoyles crashed into the airships and clung to it?

A shiver traveled down Siegfried’s spine after he realized the danger everyone was in.

”We need to stop—“ Siegfried started, but...

Boom! Boom!

One of the Guardians' airships at the front was attacked by the Magnus Gargoyles, and the airship exploded before crashing into the ground.

The thing Siegfried had feared was happening.

‘I have to stop them!’ He ran as fast as he could to the tail of the Huracan.

Click... Clack!

Siegfried opened the door.

”Are you crazy, owner punk?! Kyu!”

“No, I’m not,” Siegfried replied, and then he jumped down.

”Kyuuuu! Owner punk! Why are you so desperate to die?!” Hamachi screamed.

However, Siegfried did not crash down to the ground like Hamchi feared.

Wooong... Shwoooosh!

Thruster flames shot out of his armor and suspended him in the air.

***

An aerial battle broke out soon after the Magnus Gargoyles' appearance.

”Oh? This is really good,” Siegfried muttered in amazement while flying around.

”Kyaaaak!”

”Kyaak!”

”Kyak! Kyaaaak!”

The Magnus Gargoyles almost instantly recognized Siegfried as an enemy, and they flocked toward him.

’Oh right, I can’t use my debuff skills...’ Siegfried grumbled inwardly after realizing he had nowhere to place down his debuff fields, but that wasn't what was important right now.

Bam! Baaaam!

Siegfried swung his +13 Horse Fly at the oncoming Magnus Gargoyles, and he even used Flying Sword to smash the heads of the ones away from his reach.

Whiiiiiish!

Bam! Bam! Bam! Pukeok!

The +13 Horse Fly flew in the air and smashed one monster head after another, but it wasn't enough.

”Damn it!” Siegfried exclaimed in anger after seeing one of the Proatine Kingdom’s airships getting surrounded by the Magnus Gargoyles.

When the Magnus Gargoyles were about to attack the airship, a storm of white swords raged and swept across the monsters.

Chwaaaak!

“Huh?” Siegfried instinctively looked toward where the white swords had come from.

It had come from the highest-ranking Adventurer in BNW as well as the Adventurer who had stepped into the realm of a Master, Beowulf.

Beowulf was flying in the air with two pairs of white wings, and he was swinging a great sword at least two meters long.

[+15 Sword of Colossus]

[A large sword used by the giants in the dawn of time.]

[It is so heavy that anyone weak will be unable to wield it, and it is rumored that the Colossi’s strength is sleeping within the sword.]

[Type: Sword]

[Rating: Epic]

[Attack Power: N/A]

[Level Restriction: 300]

[Special Abilities: N/A]

Beowulf swung his +15 Epic-rated great sword and mercilessly slaughtered the Magnus Gargoyles.

”I will take care of this side!” Beowulf shouted.

”Ah, okay!” Siegfried replied.

Then, the two flew around busily to protect the armada from the flock of Magnus Gargoyles, but there were simply too many gargoyles.

”I have come, my son-in-law!”

”Neiiiighh!”

The King of Elondel, who was also Siegfried’s father-in-law as well as a Master NPC, Lohengrin, appeared riding Hyperion. He flew to a flock of Magnus Gargoyles and made quick work of them. Then, the Pegasus Knights of Elondel’s Flying Knight Squadron appeared behind him and attacked the monsters, too.

”Father-in-law!”

”I’m sorry I’m late! Let me help you with these monsters!”

”Thank you! Father-in-law!”

Lohengrin and his Pegasus Knights came at the perfect timing, and the presence of these masters of the skies instantly affected the entire battlefield.

The Warriors of Elondel easily killed the Magnus Gargoyles, and the aerial battle soon ended.

Siegfried landed on the Huracan’s deck and looked toward the airship Beowulf was on.

‘I guess there's a reason why he's the highest-ranking Adventurer.'

A powerful weapon, flight ability, and the supposedly first Adventurer to step into the realm of a Master.

‘I want to become stronger than him...’ Siegfried thought, clenching his fists.

Meanwhile...

‘He’s amazing for someone of his level. I guess there's a reason why he's pretty famous these days...’ Beowulf was quite impressed by Siegfried.

Of course, neither had a clue that they were impressed by each other.
