Hellmode ~A Hardcore Gamer Becomes Peerless in Another World with Retro Game Settings~-Chapter 706: Divine Technique Rumble! The start that kick in 100 consecutive combo, or a dud...? (1)
With a tumbling start, but returning back to their pre-planned formation, the fight against Nestirad continued.
Peromas had begun to effectively shave the luck of Nestirad using the combination of «Daruma Prayer» and «Loan Retriever.»
He had yet to iron out his throwing capability, but the guidance of Formar became that bridge to fill the gap, and now he had invoked «Loan Retriever» three times already.
The vanguard had also found their momentum as they kept Nestirad busy, while Luck continued in his task to stack more debuffs.
«Takeee iiiit!!»
Luck raised a spirited shout as he released his attack, and this time, he succeeded in proc’ing the second «Curse Strike» again. Another skeleton attaches itself to Nestirad.
«Great progress, everyone. Luck, continue to focus on your divine technique and bring down his status. Perommas, keep stealing Nestirad’s luck.»
“Sure so! Haaa, the boundary of Spirit God! Taijitu Diagram!!”
Luck moved to focus on his second debuff divine technique.
«You annoying ants!»
And in merely half the duration compared to their last battle, the situation had already reached the phase they only managed to reach at the end.
«Tsk, this guy still has much status to remove! Everyone, keep up with the situation. We just need to put up a few more debuffs and we’re all jolly then!!»
On the other hand, Allen’s instruction continued to resound amidst the battlefield filled with thundering sounds as he kept his gaze on the change of status.
Even yet, Nestirad’s single attack could insta-kill any of the vanguard.
While attack, intelligence, or agility was easily discerned, luck required much more technicality to be verified. One such way was that one time they’d have a short interlude with Allen Army’s soldiers. Allen had tested the effect by coin toss against other people.
And ultimately, he reached the conclusion that winning chances favored the side with higher luck status, or if there was a wide gap between luck. The following was the data he had gathered:
Probability of winning Coin toss in respective to Luck—
If the luck was 10 digit more than the opponent - Won 5000 times out of 10,000.If the luck was 100 digit more than the opponent - Won 5050 times out of 10,000.If the luck was 1000 digit more than the opponent - Won 5100 times out of 10,000.If the luck was 10000 digit more than the opponent - Won 5500 times out of 10,000.
Overall, while there was a difference, the winning percentage rate rose at a stable rate. However the striking difference began to show when the luck status surpassed by 100,000 or more in contrast.
—The following phenomenon could be seen when the luck status vastly surpasses the target.
1.Easy to apply debuff on opponent.
2. Easier for enemy to miss the debuff proc
3. Easier to deal critical hits against an opponent.
4. Easier to dodge attack.
5. Easier to find a shelter or escape from an untimely downpour in outing
6. The rain might bless the field at proper timing when ploughing the field.
7. Tea stalk may consistently appear while pouring tea (T/N - It’s considered a lucky omen)
Buff, debuff, attacks, or dodge—such things were easier to be influenced by luck.
But the effect wasn’t simply battle-bound, the phenomenon could be observed in daily life too, like via lucky coincidences or timely occurrence of an event. However that was far and few between. A majority of people with barely, or none at all, talent pass would never get in hunting beasts business, thus their status also would never hit the three digit ceiling.
For masses, the general distinction sits at ‘Yahoo! I got lucky!’ and ‘Acha. At Least my luck is not as bad.’
“Take it, beast! Loan Retriever—ehh?”
As Allen was lost on analysis of luck, the situation changed yet again on the battlefield.
(Hmm? Oh, it seems like Nestirad’s luck is completely cut down huh. I guess then it’s about—woahhh!!)
Peromas activated his Loan Retrieval skill for the 8th time, however there was no effect of gold coin steaming out, which means there was no luck for him to absorb.
Allen went through the overall gold coin, and concluded Nestirad’s overall luck status was hovering around 700,000.
Another fierce jumped toward Nestirad just as it had lost all its luck.
«Haaaaaaaaaaaaa!!»
At long last, Luck’s skill «Cursed Strike» had been proc’d once again, bringing the third skeleton to stick on him.
«All right, all conditions have been met. Luck, you make sure the three skeletons remain and use other techniques to shave more status.»
“Got it!”
«Peronas, transfer 400,000 of that luck to Shea, and 200,000 to Luck. Oh, and to Formar too!!»
Acting on the command, Peromas used his skill and brought both Luck and Shea’s luck to 500,000 approx. And since they’re already sharing buff via other means, their luck breakthroughs the ceiling to 600,000.
Shea was the main character, and she needed all that oomph to make sure her 100 combo strike persisted. Luck was yet another MVP to sustain the fight as the resistance shredder.
Meanwhile, Peromas was needed to keep throwing his gold coin to interrupt Nestirad’s attack from distance, hence he was needed to maintain 999,999 status of luck. Plus, Formar also had the attribute to chain the combos, so Peromas was needed to keep supplying him with arrows.
“Opportunists! Here, the gold coins!!”
Peromas fetched several gold coins, turned them into Lustrous Gold Coins, and handed them to Formar.
“Oh, nice. I have now 10 of them. Time to make good use of them. Infinite Quiver!!”
Formar turned the coins into shining arrows, and picked one of them, and nocked.
“As we had discussed, we’re going to alternate between Coin Pitcher and arrows.”
“Yeah.”
The two were nearby a huge, snapped—and of course, due to the intense battle taking place—trunk of a tree. Appearing like the soldiers fighting in the trench, Formar and Peromas affirmed their plan once again.
The trunk was of course not enough to prevent Nestirad’s attack, or even 100s of them wouldn’t be enough, so it hardly brought down his fear, however it probably provided him enough consolation. Taking a spot in its shadow, Peromas focused on True Gold Pitcher skill, and occasionally provided Formar with Lustrous Gold Coin to turn them into arrows.
(The arrows sure are impactful, eh? Well, it’s the people like him, like how he takes the marchant’s limit to extreme, that are one of the essential or profitable in game character casts. I guess I don’t have to fear about cover fire then. As for next, I guess it's to fortify defense to prevent one-shot skills. A single attack can easily throw our progress to the bin. Amn’t I right, Merle?)
So far, the mid-guard had become the idol setup he had wanted in his plan.
«I know that. Index! Tropical Beast Fang! Vest of the Wind!!»
Prioritising defense over offense, Merle changed his hand to the fang of [Tropical Beast Fang] Angel, while body to the Angel C [Vest of the Wind] which expertise in agility.
Then he leaned his posture forward, like a beast ready to pounce and got into the stance to launch his combo.
Merle throwing his armament from the equipment was a signal to everyone in the battlefield that they’re about to kick in the last phase for combo attack.

Combo Achievement Conditions (From Chapter 12):
The goal was to have Shea deliver her divine technique «Limitless Beast God - Burst Punch» at the end of 100 consecutive combos, and after combing through many conditions, their plan was now played out.
As for the coordination, Allen had made sure they'd had enough practice even while they’re busy in job change and leveling.
«We’re beginning! Remember, the opponent is intelligent enough to learn our movement. He probably can also devise a counter-attack after seeing the combo pattern. We can kiss the reward from Cecil goodbye if we lose here, since Nestirad wouldn’t give us a second chance. Let’s make it the final battle!!»
“I get ya! Twin Fist of Asura!!”
“Okay! Brilliant Flame Slash!!”
*Fwoosh-Thump-Clang-Clang-Thwoomp-Thwoomp*
«Allen’s Party combo count has reached 3.»
Kurena and Dogora followed from front and behind Nestirad, dealing their attack.
(Kurena’s arsenal is mostly filled with single-hit attacks, and it isn’t much different for Dogora too. But they only managed to generate 3 combos in five total attacks. Oh well, as long as combo timing doesn’t cut off, that’s all that matters. And I have made sure they know that as well. But that said, it’s really a great find that Grimoire can count combos. …Or maybe, it saw that we would be needing this function?)
Twin Fist of Asura was a four-hit skill, while Brilliant Flame Slash was one-hit. Kurena dealt her attack from the flank but the attack was a miss, even though Nestirad was unable to defend.
With the overwhelming status on agility, attack nullification, or dodge resistance et cetera, Nestirad still towers above Kurena in status, even counting the advantage from Luck’s debuff. Hence she missed her strike.
Meanwhile, Allen found it surprising Grimoire now had the function of notifying about combo count, which wasn’t available earlier. For the current battlescape which was no different from royal battle, it was much of a hassle saver for them. However, for a brief second, it appeared to Allen that all this series of events were some sort of guidance. He was about to fiddle it with more, but shook his head, and returned to focus on battle where his concentration was required right now.
“Nine-fold strike!”
*Clang-Clang-Clang-Clang*
Ignmoas followed after with his 9-hit skill, and with the miss and hit interwoven, he managed to add 4 more counts to the combo count.
«Allen’s Party combo count has reached 7.»
(Good, that’s the pace. It’s really great to have so many members with multi-hill skills. Keep it up, and me too!!)
This 𝓬ontent is taken from fгeewebnovёl.co𝙢.
With the combo registered window being 5 seconds while Nestirad surpassing everyone else in status, it was utmost that they delivered numbers of strikes.
Allen followed after Ignomas and delivered his attack.
“Divine Wind Claw Frenzy!!”
«Allen’s Party combo count has reached 8.»
But it appeared Shea had thought of the same move. Among the team, the tactic was tailor-made for her. Besides, she boasted top agility, attack speed, and with the critical buff and all, it was easy for her to maintain the combo.
«You’ll are annoying. Drop dead for me! Whirling Edge!!»
Meanwhile it appeared Nestirad had managed to accumulate enough spiritual power in his right hand despite the non-stop onslaught of attacks. And it just happened to be one of its strongest skills.
“Ack!?”
A disordered voice escaped from Dogora.
The danger hovers most above the vanguard within several metres of Nestirad. However no one had planned the escape route from here.
But regardless of everyone’s thought, the monstrous right hand of Nestirad zoomed toward Dogora who had just leaped into the air, his two-handed axe raised into air to deliver the attack.
T/N - Hello, hello. I hope everyone are doing great. It's an update time, finally. I really don't know where to begin honestly. My health had been upside down during the beginning of last month, and just as I thought I was better, updated one chapter, I got sick again. Turn out It was typhoid. Now my focus would be to finish the schedule without prolonging it. Moreso for our dear patron readers. Let's see, right now, it's 1/16. Will keep updating regularly.
