Chapter 107: Mad

Riven blinked, unsure of what Ronan meant at first. Then it dawned on him—the awkward reality of where he was going to sleep. Heat crept up his neck, and he glanced at the door again. "For tonight... I’ll be sleeping in..."

Please, do not make me say it. It is already awkward enough!

Ronan’s jaw tightened, but he forced himself to nod. He already knew what the answer would be, but hearing it out loud still hurt. "In Soren’s room," he finished for him, his voice barely above a whisper.

Riven winced, wanting to reach out and reassure Ronan but not sure how to do so without making things worse. "I... I just think it’s fair," he said slowly. "I’ve been here since... well, since everything happened. And it’s only one more night. Tomorrow, I’ll go with you."

Ronan looked down at their joined hands, his fingers gripping just a bit tighter. "I understand," he said, forcing a small smile.

"I’m not angry. Just... Trying to wrap my head around all this. Knowing I’ll have you with me for a whole week—it should be enough to ease my nerves, but..." He trailed off, unsure how to put his emotions into words.

"I understand..." Riven nodded. He really just hoped to end this conversation. "The situation we are in... Is strange."

Not if you chose me... Ronan wanted to say that, but he could not. He had to suppress those feelings. This was his punishment... For abandoning his mate twice.

Ronan couldn’t help but let out a bitter laugh. "Neither did I. But... I’ll make it work. I’ll do whatever it takes to make up for everything I did wrong. Even if it means... Sharing." His last word came out strained, as if the very concept was alien to him.

Riven gave him a gentle smile, squeezing his hands. "I’ll hold you to that," he said lightly, trying to ease the tension.

Ronan’s hand slid from Riven’s and cupped his cheek instead, tilting his face up to meet his gaze. "You don’t have to force yourself to make things fair," he whispered. "If you want to stay with him longer, I won’t hold it against you. Your happiness is more important to me than being fair."

Riven froze. He... He really meant it. He could feel that. Ronan would really do this for him had he asked. He sighed to himself.

"But for me, being fair is important." Riven spoke.

Riven meant it when he said it. He liked Ronan, he really did. He was not a bad person. Riven had access to his thoughts and past as he read the story. Just that feeling those emotions in person... Ronan acting cold towards him brought about resentment. Riven shook his head, he was not going to think about this again.

It was so easy to lose himself in Ronan’s warmth and sincerity. Yet he couldn’t ignore the guilt gnawing at him. Soren’s retreating figure still haunted his mind.

Ronan leaned forward and brushed a soft kiss over Riven’s forehead, his lips lingering as if committing the touch to memory. "Alright," he whispered. "I will make the necessary arrangements."

With one last look, Ronan reluctantly released him and took a step back. He forced himself to keep his gaze on Riven, even as jealousy and sadness threatened to claw their way to the surface.

"If you need anything... just call," he said, giving Riven a gentle nod before finally leaving.

As the door closed behind him, Riven exhaled slowly, his shoulders slumping. It was exhausting—managing the turbulent feelings between the two of them while trying to stay true to himself. His mind was a tangled mess of guilt, longing, and confusion.

He couldn’t deny that his heart still ached for Ronan, that his instincts as a wolf craved the bond they shared. But Soren hah... That man was absolutely perfect. He loved Soren. And he would choose Soren, but he could not! Not without hurting himself.

Riven trudged up the stairs, his footsteps slow and uncertain as his mind raced. He hoped Soren would speak freely as Ronan was not there.

His steps quickened when he remembered Soren’s retreating figure earlier.

When he finally reached their room and pushed the door open, he barely had time to process anything before strong arms wrapped around his waist, pulling him forward. Startled, Riven barely got out a gasp before lips crashed against his in a fierce, consuming kiss.

Soren’s hands gripped his hips, pulling him flush against his body, and Riven couldn’t help but melt into the embrace.

Soren kissed him like he was eating up Riven, teeth grazing his lower lip, demanding entry until Riven parted his lips with a breathless moan. Soren’s tongue swept in, tasting and teasing, leaving Riven dizzy and gasping for air. Riven gripped Soren’s shoulders, holding on as the yandere pressed him backward, forcing him to stumble until his back hit the wall.

When Soren finally pulled back, his lips were swollen and eyes gleaming with an intensity that made Riven shiver. A wicked smirk curved Soren’s lips as he whispered, "I’m getting all the kisses in advance. It better last me the entire week."

Riven barely had a chance to catch his breath before Soren scooped him up effortlessly, lifting him by the thighs and pinning him against the wall. Instinctively, Riven wrapped his legs around Soren’s waist, his hands threading through Soren’s hair as the kisses resumed—deeper, rougher, like Soren was trying to memorise every inch of him.

Riven’s mind spun, his heart racing as he clung to Soren, trying to keep up with the relentless pace. His chest heaved with every breath, and he couldn’t help the way his fingers tugged at Soren’s hair, pulling him closer even when he thought he couldn’t possibly get any nearer.

"I thought you were mad..." Riven said softly. He was worried for Soren. He did not want to lose his favourite male lead.

Soren chuckled darkly, his lips brushing against Riven’s neck, biting down just hard enough to leave a faint mark. "I can’t be mad at you."
