"Did you come?"

Kang Jinwook looked at his son, Kang Jin-tae, who had just entered the yard, and smiled faintly. It was a welcoming gesture, unusual for someone who had just ordered a breakfast meeting at such an early hour.

"Dad, were you outside? Why didn't you wait inside?"

Kang Jin-tae, though grumbling internally, quickly replied with a smile.

"I happened to be finishing my walk when I saw your car. Come in."

"Yes, understood."

As Kang Jin-tae followed his father into the house, the servants who had been waiting all stood up and bowed. The father and son ignored them and headed straight for the dining room.

"Have the meal prepared."

As soon as Kang Jinwook sat down in his chair, he gave the order, and soon, a variety of dishes were served on the table, all tailored to his taste and health.

"Let’s eat."

Kang Jin-tae only picked up his spoon after his father’s command. Meanwhile, he glanced around, wondering where his mother was.

"Where’s Mom?"

"She went to the morning prayer meeting and said she would return after lunch."

"Hmm..."

It seemed like Kang Jinwook had intentionally asked for breakfast while his wife was away.

"Did you see the profile I sent you?"

After a bit of silence, Kang Jin-tae couldn't wait any longer and brought up the topic.

"The Omega, you mean?"

Kang Jinwook asked casually, though his tone was indifferent. By not completely ignoring it, it seemed like he was willing to listen further.

Kang Jin-tae quickly responded.

"Yes, his name is Im Haewon. He’s a dominant Omega working at Kang Jinwook’s company, and his reputation is well-known. Apparently, there are many Alphas eyeing him, and it’s said that Kang Jinwook will take him soon."

"Saying it’s a rumor..."

Although the rumor within the company was true, the rest of the story had been fabricated by Kang Jin-tae. But Kang Jinwook didn’t seem particularly interested, maintaining a nonchalant attitude.

"Yes, just idle chatter from some low-ranking people, but still, he’s a dominant Omega."

"Well, dominant Omega bloodlines don’t come around often."

Kang Jin-tae noticed that his father seemed slightly interested and his eyes sparkled with excitement.

"We’ll need to start taking care of Kang Jinwook’s surroundings soon. You know as well as I do that Sunwoo is unlikely to manifest his abilities, right?"

"Ah, don’t be too quick to make decisions about that."

Kang Jinwook immediately scolded Kang Jin-tae. But Kang Jin-tae wasn’t fazed. The fact that his father didn’t explicitly tell him not to speak about it meant that he was willing to listen.

"At least meet him first. You’re not planning to leave Kang Jinwook alone, are you? From what I see, the dominant Omega seems to be clean and there are no issues. It seems like the perfect match."

"Hmm."

Finally, Kang Jinwook’s gaze turned toward Kang Jin-tae. He knew his son well enough to understand that Kang Jin-tae was trying to use the opportunity to get rid of Kang Jinwook’s support system by offering up an Omega from a humble background. He was likely trying to secure his own advantage in the process.

But as usual, Kang Jinwook didn’t interfere in his sons’ internal conflicts.

"I’m handling the Sunwoo matter well, so don’t worry about that."

"Take it easy."

Kang Jinwook didn’t say much, but there was a certain tone in his words that made Kang Jin-tae stifle a smile inwardly.

"Yes, of course. After all, he’s the only grandson left by Elder Choi."

The meal passed quietly and awkwardly. Apart from a small incident where Kang Jinwook almost cut himself with a knife while preparing food under the excuse of Sunwoo’s morning sickness, the meal was uneventful.

There was little conversation. When Sunwoo had asked if Kang Jinwook had gone out for a walk early in the morning, Kang Jinwook had casually responded that he had just taken a stroll around the house.

Thus, the meal ended quickly, and the cleanup only took about 30 minutes.

"Would you like some tea?"

After finishing the dishes and turning around, Sunwoo casually asked. Kang Jinwook probably didn’t know that Sunwoo had spent a while pondering what to do next while rinsing the plates.

"Do you have any more things to pack?"

However, Kang Jinwook’s response was completely unexpected.

"...Huh?"

"You don’t have much to bring, just your ID. If you need anything else, grab it."

"Uh..."

It dawned on Kang Jinwook that Sunwoo was talking about leaving now, once the meal and cleanup were done.

Sunwoo, looking bewildered, went to his room to pack his things. It didn’t take long, just as Kang Jinwook had said.

Once Sunwoo came back to the living room with his suitcase, Kang Jinwook naturally took it from him.

"Let’s go."

Instead of the suitcase handle, Sunwoo felt Kang Jinwook’s hand hold his.

"..."

Sunwoo stared blankly at their hands clasped together, and before he knew it, he was being led out. The morning had brightened even more. The sky was clear, and the fluffy clouds made for a picturesque view.

As they crossed the yard and walked through the alley, Sunwoo ran into the grandmother he had met last time.

"Hello."

Sunwoo greeted her politely, and the grandmother blinked her small eyes and nodded.

"Where are you going?"

"Uh... well..."

At the question, Sunwoo hesitated for a moment. It was true. He had decided to go with Kang Jinwook, but now that he thought about it, he hadn’t actually heard where they were going.

The grandmother looked at their joined hands and smiled knowingly.

"Have a good trip."

Rather than saying goodbye, the grandmother’s cheerful words made Sunwoo awkwardly smile. It seemed like she had figured out that he probably wouldn’t be coming back after this.

"Yes, thank you, Grandma. Take care."

Although they had only exchanged greetings a few times, Sunwoo still smiled and said goodbye, as she was a familiar neighbor.

Kang Jinwook, quietly observing them, gave the grandmother a brief nod and continued walking. Sunwoo naturally followed behind.

As they left the residential alley, the familiar car and Secretary Gwak came into view. It was the same vehicle that Kang Jinwook had arrived in when he came to Jeju, with Secretary Gwak waiting by the car.

"Hello, Secretary Gwak."

Sunwoo greeted him first, and Secretary Gwak nodded in return, wishing him well.

Meanwhile, the driver received the suitcase from Kang Jinwook and placed it in the trunk, while Kang Jinwook gently pushed Sunwoo forward.

Understanding the silent instruction, Sunwoo quietly got into the car, and Kang Jinwook followed.

Sunwoo stared out of the window, lost in thought. He had thought he was going back, but this wasn’t what he had imagined. Everything felt a little strange, and he wasn’t sure what to make of it.

"Don’t overthink it. Just think of it as staying at home quietly for a while."

As Sunwoo continued to stare out the window, Kang Jinwook spoke softly. He likely thought Sunwoo was worried about what would happen next.

"Does that mean I have to keep living in your house?"

"Did you have another place in mind?"

In Kang Jinwook’s view, there was no safer or more closely monitored place than his own house. Inside, only a few trusted people worked—each one personally chosen by him and vetted. They all had their own keys and would never betray him.

Especially Butler Baek, who had been with his mother until her last days, was the only person Kang Jinwook trusted fully.

"Well, I guess..."

Sunwoo muttered, scratching his head. The car steadily drove past the beach and started heading toward the road that led to the airport.

It wasn’t rush hour, so they reached the airport in less than an hour. When Sunwoo got out of the car, he saw Secretary Gwak already carrying his suitcase into the terminal.

Sunwoo walked a half-step behind Kang Jinwook, his hand occasionally clenching and unclenching as he felt the emptiness of not having his suitcase.

Being guided by the waiting flight attendants, he experienced a new set of procedures—something he hadn’t expected. Although he had planned this trip, it still felt strange to buy a ticket, go through security, and enter the massive waiting area only to board the plane.

Strangely, there were no other passengers in the cabin besides the two of them. A stewardess with a smile that seemed a bit artificial handed them drinks and peaches, and Sunwoo unconsciously glanced at Kang Jinwook.

Kang Jinwook was speaking to someone on the phone, facing forward.

‘Hmm, maybe it’s just a coincidence.’

Of course, it wasn’t just a coincidence. Kang Jinwook had arranged everything before coming, but Sunwoo didn’t know that. What he didn’t notice either was how Kang Jinwook’s gaze briefly shifted toward him, as he took a bite of the peach.

The vice president just had breakfast with the chairman. There was talk about arranging a meeting with an Omega named Im Haewon.

Im Haewon?

Yes. According to the vice president, he works at a construction company and is already a well-known dominant Omega within the company. The chairman would surely be pleased with him.

Contrary to what Sunwoo had assumed, Kang Jinwook wasn’t talking on the phone. He was actually listening to a recorded message.

It was information that Secretary Park had overheard during breakfast with Kang Jin-tae and conveyed to Secretary Gwak.

In just that brief conversation, Kang Jinwook immediately understood what Kang Jin-tae’s objective was in meeting with the chairman.

‘He’s playing a cute little game.’

Kang Jinwook murmured to himself as he put his phone down.
