Reph raised an eyebrow at her question. Were his royal guards watching over them?

"Why would you like to know?" Reph asked in a suspicious tone. He slightly turned his chest towards her and subtly hid his left hand behind his back.

Marionette tilted her head at her, feigning naivety, "I would just like to know. That's all."

Reph eyed her, sceptical.

"You just want to know—"

"From how hesitant you are to answer this little question of mine, I believe they aren't, are they?" Marionette muttered in a low tone.

The darkness surrounding them seemed to darken slightly. The crackling of the fire quieted down a bit.

This subtle change in atmosphere caused Reph to go on alert. The hand, which was hidden behind his back, now had rings worn over each individual finger.

Marionette narrowed her eyes on how alert the Prince looked, "What's wrong, Prince... you look a bit worried about something... mind sharing your worries?"

"I'd rather not." He immediately answered, glancing at Lillian, who was still distracted by Millis's seemingly endless chatter.

"Oh? Is that so? How about this... are you willing to share the reason why you are so close to... my Lillian?"

The source of this c𝓸ntent is frёeweɓηovel.coɱ.

This question caused his eyes to briefly widen in surprise.

While he was glad that Lillian was able to get Marionette to like her that much, he wasn't quite happy about the fact he was now caught up in their personal love lives.

"I honestly don't understand what you mean—"

"You spend time alone with her, ask her to sit next to you on the bus, pull her away for private discussions..."

Each word spoken seemed to increase the weight of their conversation.

Marionette lowered her hand to her side, clutching the air as something dark and... even sinister slowly manifested in her grip.

Reph's hidden hand twitched a bit, glowing slightly. His rings shimmered a bit in activation.

"... You're looking too deep into this. We're merely friends and colleagues, especially since we both are a Class Representative."

Marionette narrowed her eyes.

"Is that so..."

"... Yes..."

Moments after this, Marionette moved, causing Reph to flinch a bit. But he soon quickly relaxed after seeing a metal canister being held in her hand.

After taking a sip from it and putting on its cap, she said:

"I believe you." She then side-eyed him, finding him look a bit tense, "I still don't understand why you look so nervous. I doubt anything in this forest could pose much of a threat to both of us." Said Marionette, drawing her eyes back to the campfire.

Reph's left eye twitched. He then murmured under his breath, "Yeah... for you."

"Hm? Did you say something?" She glanced at him again and found him stoically shaking his head.

"No—"

"Ah... You thought I was going to attack you. Correct?" She said, smirking in amusement. "Even if I may win, I am not so foolish to enact on it. You do, after all, have a Saving Talisman."

"... And if I didn't...?"

"..."

Silence then drew in after he said that, causing his worry to return once again. However, it then disappeared once he saw Lillian sneaking up behind Marionette with a mischievous grin.

She then raised her arms just above Marionette, who seemed to have already sensed her presence, and quickly wrapped them around her neck.

"Gotcha!" Lillian yelled, leaning her chest against the back of Marionette's head and resting her arms on her shoulders.

The edges of Marionette's lips curved up a bit as she raised one of her hands, softly clutching Lillian's right arm. She then turned her head up and gazed into Lillian's eyes.

"Yeah... You sure did." She said with a look of amusement in her eyes—her words causing Lillian to giggle a bit.

"I know you definitely sensed me."

"Who knows~..."

While they conversed with one another, Reph breathed a sigh of relief before feeling a hand land on his shoulder.

He craned his head back and found it belonged to Millis.

The Heroine raised her other hand and greeted him, "Yo, bro! Ya should go get some shut eye. Me and Lillian decided to takeover watch instead of all four of us."

"Hm? Are you sure?"

"Yah! Totally!"

Marionette, who had overheard them, raised an eyebrow. She stared at Lillian, who nodded.

"You should go back to our tent and rest, Marionette."

"Hm? I'm capable of staying up la—" Before Marionette could finish her sentence, Lillian interrupted her.

"Nope. Bedtime. Off you go." Lillian pulled her up to her feet and began to walk her back to their tent.

Millis stared at them, elbowing Reph's arm and whispering:

"Don't ya think Lillian acts a bit like a mom or something?" She then froze before tapping her chin with her finger, "Well... I guess if she was taller she would be mommy mater—"

Before she could finish, Reph stood up, "Please don't even finish that sentence." He then began to walk towards a crowd of packed tents with his hands in his pockets.

"I'm gonna head back to my tent." He had already given out all the tents but was fortunately able to get a private one all to himself.

Half into a step, he paused. He then turned his head back and said:

"Try not to do anything funny with Lillian, unless you can survive the consequences."

Millis tilted her head cutely and naively to the side, "Eh? Funny? But that'll reduce my entire personality below half!"

"... Yeah... you can probably survive."

After saying that, he rested for the day.

Lillian then later returned and both she and Millis stayed up for an hour or two.

Lillian would definitely admit that Millis was a good friend to have, an especially entertaining one.

"But honestly! Don't ya wanna at least poke one of their boobs?" Millis made a lecherous groping motion with her fingers, referring to one of the girls in their class.

Lillian's eye twitched, 'She's definitely a good friend... if you look past this side of her.'
