Chapter 131: Treasures and Troublemakers ( 131 )
While Hazuki wandered around, eyes wide at all the glittering displays and strange artifacts, Ellyn casually slipped toward Grandpa Grimmon behind the counter.
She leaned in and whispered, cupping her hands around her mouth.
"Grandpa!"
Grimmon flinched slightly, bending down to her level to whisper back.
"P-Princess, what are you doing here without your escort!?" ƒreewebɳovel.com
Ellyn tilted her head innocently.
"Hmm? I do have escorts. They’re just... outside."
She waved a tiny hand dismissively.
Grimmon sighed heavily, glancing toward the door as if he expected to see an entire battalion hiding behind the fruit stalls.
"Haaa... for real?" he muttered under his breath.
Ellyn smiled brightly.
"How’s our business, Grandpa?" she asked, switching back to a whisper.
Grimmon chuckled softly, patting her head gently.
"It’s good. Very good."
He leaned closer.
"But why did you bring him here?" he asked, nodding toward Hazuki, who was currently poking at a glowing orb with casual interest.
Ellyn giggled.
"He wanted to sell his loot!" she whispered.
"And I already inspected it before—high-quality rings, magic accessories, an Arcwizard staff, some really nice weapons, and armor too!"
Grimmon’s eyes widened behind his spectacles.
"Oho~? Really?"
"Yeah! And a magic pouch too." Ellyn added proudly.
Grimmon’s hand paused mid-pat.
He slowly turned to fully face Hazuki, his eyes sharpening.
"A magic pouch, you say...?"
Hazuki wandered deeper into the shop, his hands clasped behind his back.
"Look at this, Ridan... glowing orbs..." he mumbled in awe, his eyes practically sparkling.
He didn’t even realize that Ridan was no longer floating beside him.
Instead, the spirit was casually hovering next to Ellyn, arms crossed, lazily spinning like a bored cloud.
"Just look at that idiot, Princess," Ridan said through telepathy, half-amused, half-exasperated.
"I don’t know why you chose this dummy as your pinky promise partner."
Ellyn covered her mouth, giggling softly at Ridan’s complaints.
She tilted her head toward Hazuki, who was still poking a suspiciously glowing orb labeled "Do Not Touch."
"Uncle~!" Ellyn called sweetly.
"Come here and put your items on the counter!"
Hazuki blinked and looked back, realizing for the first time that they had moved without him.
"Eh? Oh—right!" he said, scrambling back toward them.
He jogged up, his magic pouch already in hand.
"Man, this shop is full of cool stuff," Hazuki said, grinning. "I could live here!"
Ridan muttered in Ellyn’s mind,
"If living here means sleeping in a crate, sure."
Ellyn just smiled innocently while Hazuki happily dumped his magic pouch onto the counter, completely unaware of the silent judging going on between Ridan, Ellyn, and Grimmon.
Grimmon took the magic pouch carefully, channeling a small pulse of mana into it with practiced ease.
With a soft flash, the contents of the pouch spilled neatly onto the counter in an organized display.
Rows of magic rings, enchanted amulets, bracelets, several short swords, a unique curved blade, a gleaming Arcwizard staff, a set of high-quality mithril armor, enchanted boots, and various other sparkling loot appeared—an adventurer’s dream hoard.
Grimmon’s eyes widened slightly, but his old merchant instincts kicked in fast.
He smoothed his face back into a calm, professional mask.
Meanwhile, Ellyn watched quietly from the side, her tail swishing in excitement.
Grimmon ran a hand lightly over the goods, muttering under his breath as he inspected each item with small flickers of mana detection.
Finally, after a long silence—
"T-Ten gold coins... for all of this," he said, his voice steady but a little strained.
Hazuki’s eyes practically bulged out of his head.
"WHOA!! REALLY!?" he shouted, fists pumping the air.
"YEAHHHHHHH!!!!!!! SOLD!!!!!!!!"
He slapped both palms on the counter, grinning like he just won the national lottery.
Grimmon twitched slightly at the sheer lack of haggling but kept his old merchant smile fixed firmly in place.
Meanwhile, Ridan telepathically whispered to Ellyn,
"This idiot just got scammed upward. If he had bargained, he probably could’ve gotten double."
Ellyn just giggled behind her hand again.
Hazuki happily pulled out his adventurer card without hesitation, ready for the money transfer.
"Grandpa Grimmon?" Ellyn asked sweetly, hands folded behind her back, swaying a little as she looked up at him.
"Y-Yes, Prin—ah... e-Ellyn?" Grimmon stuttered, catching himself just in time.
She leaned forward slightly, lowering her voice.
"Do you have... that thing?"
Grimmon blinked. "Oh? Which one?"
Ellyn gave him a small, innocent smile.
"The one you displayed before~"
Grimmon’s eyes widened a fraction.
"...You mean the—?"
She nodded.
"The bridal gown."
The old merchant froze for a second, then cleared his throat.
"Just... wait here."
He quickly disappeared through a door behind the counter, muttering under his breath about locks and enchantment wards.
Meanwhile, Hazuki stood at the counter, still holding his adventurer card, checking his new balance for the tenth time.
"Man... Ten gold. TEN. FREAKING. GOLD!" he whispered to himself with glee.
"Goodbye stables, hello two-star inns..."
He glanced toward the back room.
"Hmm? Where’s the old man going?"
He looked at Ellyn, who was humming to herself and definitely looking suspicious.
Hazuki blinked.
"...Wait. Ellyn? You didn’t ask for something expensive just now, did you?"
Ellyn turned with the most innocent, radiant smile he’d ever seen.
"Me? Nooooo~ Uncle~ Of course not~"
Ridan floated nearby, watching them both with a wicked grin.
"This is gonna be good."
"Here, Princ—ah, Ellyn," Grimmon said, returning carefully with a large, protected box.
He gently lifted the lid, revealing a stunning white bridal gown, embroidered with delicate silver threads and subtle magic enhancements that made the fabric shimmer softly under the shop lights.
Ellyn’s eyes lit up, her whole face glowing with happiness as she leaned closer, inspecting it like a priceless treasure.
"Uncle!" she called out sweetly, snapping Hazuki out of his money-counting trance.
"Give me one gold!"
"EHHHHHHHH!!!??" Hazuki stumbled back, clutching his adventurer card like it was his soul.
"For what!? WHY!?"
"Faster!" Ellyn grinned, and in a flash, she snatched the adventurer card from his hand with nimble fingers.
"Grandpa!" she announced proudly.
"We’re booking this one!!"
Grimmon coughed lightly into his hand to hide his chuckle.
"Of course, young lady."
Hazuki, meanwhile, flailed.
"OI, BRAT!! You’re still a kid! You’re far from marriage!! Why the hell do you need a bridal gown anyway!? I don’t think it’ll even fit you when you grow up!"
Ellyn turned toward him, her hands folded behind her back, tilting her head cutely.
"Hmm? Uncle, you remember my adult body from before, right?" she said innocently.
Hazuki froze.
Sweat ran down his face.
"I—uh—well—I mean—"
His mind flashed back to the vision of Ellyn’s true form—the elegant, nearly grown beauty hidden beneath her childlike appearance.
"...Ughhhhh." Hazuki groaned, burying his face in his hands.
"This is extortion. This is blackmail. This is... bullying!!"
Ridan floated above them, laughing so hard he was barely holding form.
"Bwahahaha! That’s what you get, dumbass!!"
Meanwhile, Ellyn just smiled sweetly, swiping the purchase through the counter’s magic payment crystal with a cheerful hum.
