Chapter 184: Sleeper’s Body, Demon’s Play ( 184 )
Ridan hovered above Hazuki’s sprawled-out body like a mischievous ghost at a child’s festival. The moonlight seeped softly through the window, casting a gentle glow over the room where Hazuki was sleeping soundly.
A wide grin spread across Ridan’s misty face.
"Heh heh heh~"
Leaning in with hands raised like claws, he started circling Hazuki’s head.
"Hazuuuuukiiiii~" he crooned in a spooky voice, stretching the words deliberately. "Woooooooooo~ I am your spirit of doom~~ Your worst nightmare~ Your—"
Hazuki didn’t even flinch.
"Still sleeping, huh?"
Ridan floated up, clapping his cloudy hands together. "Fine! You asked for it, dumbass!"
He shot into the air, spun like a torpedo, and aimed straight at Hazuki’s body.
"Spirit Possession—ACTIVATE!!"
FWOOOM!!
A small flash burst out as Ridan’s form collided with Hazuki.
Then— silence.
The room went completely still. Not a single movement.
Hazuki lay there, unmoving... until—
His body twitched.
"...Nnghh..."
Hazuki’s arm jerked. Then his leg kicked out.
"Ughh... what... the... hell..."
Suddenly, Hazuki sat up—then paused.
He blinked. Then he grinned.
He looked down at his hands. Raised one hand, then the other.
"Ohoho~ It worked!! IT WORKED!! I’m alive!!"
He jumped up.
"Wha— I mean— I’m Hazuki!! I AM THE GREAT HAZUKI—wait, no, no I’m RIDAN!! HAHAHAHAHA!!"
He spun around, then stopped and stared at his own legs.
"Ohhh!! Legs!! Feet!! I forgot how good it feels to walk!! To move!! To—ACK!!"
Hazuki suddenly tripped over the edge of the floor mat and fell face-first onto the wooden table with a loud THUNK!
"OWWWWW!! WHO PUT THAT THERE!?"
A pause. Then groaning.
"Ugh... maybe... maybe I need more practice..."
The moon hung high above the forest, its pale light streaming quietly through the treetops. The air was still and peaceful, the only sound the soft crunch of grass under Hazuki’s bare feet as he moved silently through the darkness. His eyes were half-lidded, showing he was still deeply asleep. His breathing was slow and steady.
Inside Hazuki’s mind, Ridan was grinning wildly.
"HEH HEH HEH~" he chuckled. "A midnight walk with stolen legs. How romantic~"
He exaggerated Hazuki’s arm movements, stretching and twisting them like a drunken martial artist preparing for a fight.
"This doofus sleeps like the dead. Well—his loss, my gain!"
His voice echoed only inside their shared mind; Hazuki was still lost in deep sleep, unaware.
As Hazuki approached the forest’s edge, distant howls suddenly echoed through the trees.
AAARRROOOO!!!
Ridan, inside Hazuki, turned toward the sound with a mad grin.
"Oh ho ho~ What do we have here?"
From the shadows, a pack of battle wolves emerged. They were twice as big as normal wolves, with razor-sharp fangs and eyes glowing with fierce aggression.
"Perfect. Let’s get this party started," Ridan muttered.
He planted Hazuki’s feet firmly on the ground and raised a hand. With a whisper of an ancient chant—long forgotten in the modern world—Ridan sent magic rushing through Hazuki’s veins.
[Ancient Flame - Ignition]
Hazuki’s palm sparked, a tiny flicker becoming a glowing ball of fire, like a mini sun floating above his hand.
"YES!! I forgot how awesome this feels!!" Ridan shouted happily inside.
The wolves growled and snarled, bracing for attack.
WHOOOOSH!!!
With a flick, the fireball shot forward, striking the lead wolf with a loud explosion. Flames burst out, illuminating the forest like lightning.
The wolf pack responded with fierce growls and lunges.
"Oh, you want more? Let’s DANCE!"
Hazuki’s body moved sideways and then forward, animated with unnatural grace—like he had no bones. Ridan was dancing as if no danger could touch him.
He summoned another flame in one hand, lightning in the other, grinning crazily.
"Oh Hazuki~ your body is my favorite toy!!"
Ridan, currently controlling Hazuki’s sleeping body, stood right in the middle of the clearing, grinning like a madman.
"With this guy’s mana pool... it’s like an endless ocean..."
His eyes glowed crimson as magic power flowed out from every part of his body.
"I have no limits now! Unlike a thousand years ago, when one spell would drain half my mana—now? HA!! Let’s see what true power feels like when I don’t have to hold back!"
He raised Hazuki’s right hand toward the starry sky and activated a long-forbidden skill.
[Taunt] – Wide-Area Threat Generation
A pulse of dark energy burst outward from him, spreading throughout the entire forest like a siren calling death. A deep hum followed—a ripple echoing through the predators nearby.
The ground trembled.
Crack—Snap—CRASH!
Bushes parted. Trees bent and swayed. Shadows gathered and grew darker.
From every corner of the forest, they emerged.
Trolls scarred and moss-covered, wielding clubs made of bone.
Goblin generals on mutated wolves.
Ogres with nails hammered into their skulls.
Even mana-mutated manticores and horned beasts slithered out from the shadows.
A countless number of glowing red eyes stared back at him from all directions.
"Heh~ now that’s more like it," Ridan muttered, lifting Hazuki’s left hand.
Mana swirled upward, thick and violent as a storm.
"The sword, the elemental powers, and this unlimited mana... YESSS~"
He cackled madly.
"This is what I wanted to do back then—what I COULDN’T. Until now!"
He raised both hands to the sky.
[Ancient Forbidden Art – Meteor Shower]
The clouds tore apart. The stars disappeared.
And the sky screamed.
Tall, flaming rocks began to fall from above.
Hundreds of them, each as big as a carriage.
BOOM!!
One hit a goblin general and obliterated him instantly.
Another crashed into two trolls in a burst of flames and blood.
Boom, boom, boom—the forest caught fire in seconds, ground splitting apart, monsters screeching in chaos.
Ridan laughed inside Hazuki’s body like a lunatic.
"BWAHAHAHA!! Burn! Burn, you filthy beasts!! This is what REAL magic feels like!!"
The forest turned into a burning inferno. The night was lit as bright as day.
And through it all, Hazuki’s peaceful sleeping face remained unchanged—as if he was just napping, completely unaware of the chaos around him.
Heh heh heh... sleep more, so I can kill even more monsters!
Ridan’s grin widened as he watched Hazuki’s face stay peaceful and unaware. The forest around them was burning, chaos exploding in every direction, yet inside Hazuki’s mind, Ridan was already scheming his next move.
Without hesitation, he launched another spell, then another—each one more destructive than the last. Fireballs tore through the air, lightning struck the ground with explosive force, and dark waves of energy pulsed outward, stirring panic among the monsters.
"Let’s see how much chaos I can stir up before this sleepyhead wakes!" Ridan chuckled, voice echoing madly inside Hazuki’s mind.
The monsters roared and charged, caught in the storm of Ridan’s power, their howls drowned by the roaring flames and crackling lightning. Each spell was a brutal, beautiful display of destruction—an unstoppable storm of absolute chaos.
"All of this? Just the warm-up," Ridan whispered with a mischievous laugh, eyes glowing brighter than ever. "And I’m just getting started..."
