Legendary Traveler: By Earning Progress Points I will Become Supreme!-Chapter 267: The Partial Truth Behind Progression
Long after Anthony had gone to bed for the night, Aoni sat awake in his tent, staring intently at an ancient book that radiated an intense cold to which he'd grown quite accustomed.

Name: Compendium Of Iceborn Spells Volume 1
AMP: 200 Mil - ???
Description: An Ancient Compilation of Ice Elemental Spells ranging from 1-Star to 4-Stars from the Civilization known as Frostbound Elves.
Language: Ancient Ice/Snow Elvish
Prerequisite 1: Ice, Snow, or Frost Affinity
Prerequisite 2: Corresponding Internal Imprint Circle
Translation Cost: 5,000 Progress Points
Running his fingers over the embossed scripture formed of slanted lines and interlinked loops, Aoni could feel the chill of Ice Energia radiating from not only the book but also the individual writing. Upon carefully opening it, he was quick to notice that the deeper into the pages he delved, the harsher the cold it permeated.
'So even if I translate it, I would first need to have the appropriate Circles engraved on my Energia Cell?'
That is correct. Learning spells is one thing, but unless one becomes an official Mage, it will be impossible to utilize the knowledge held in this or any Grimore
'I see, and I suppose it's entirely possible for me to carve Spell Circles, too, isn't it.'
Although a being technically should have an Attribute geared toward being a Mage before attempting to craft their Circles, it isn't impossible for the Host to do So, such is the nature of their Progression Attribute
'Why is that?'
…
Answer will cost 100 Progress Points
'Tsk, hiding shit behind a paywall now, whatever, take the points and tell me.'
100 pp Deducted
Unlike typical Attributes, which are boxed into specific categories, as it has been observed by viewing Anthony Thurston's information, Progression is unbound by such norms because it would constrain the Host into one particular form of growth
For example, although a Warrior or Brawler will be able to utilize a certain level of Magic attacks, their primary use of Energia is limited to that of physical enhancements
Whereas while a Mage or Magician will be able to wield weapons, their body will naturally be weaker than someone with a physical-based Attribute
Progression allows for growth in any aspect, be it body or Energia usage, thus rendering them able to utilize any form of class-based abilities
At present, the Host is geared toward a hybrid-based Combat style, utilizing Magic attacks for range and weapons for frontal assault. However, if they wish to engrave Circles on their Energia Cell, not only will there be a qualitative change in Energia Proficiency, but the stability of their Attacks will increase by a large scale
For several minutes, Aoni read and re-read the messages with a contemplative expression. Seeing as his Attribute Notice had never once lied to him in the past, it wasn't difficult for him to acknowledge its words as truth; however, that didn't mean he was able to wrap his head around the newly acquired info.
'Anything is possible through Progress…while that may be the case, I am sure the cost of doing something like adding Circles to my EC will be heavy.'
Not necessarily; if the Host had decided to be a mage early on, it would have been quite taxing on their mind and body, but that would be the opposite now, or at least with the early rings
'Let me guess, because of my Defense and Pain Resistance?' He asked with one eyebrow raised inquisitively.
That and the fact that the Host's Energia Stat is immense for their Grade in tandem with their Energia Manipulation
Forming the first Circle is extremely complex for beings who don't have control over the intricacies of said Manipulation; however, since the Host is able to move not only Pre-Established but also Established Energia, forming up to the Third Circle wouldn't be a difficult process
The Challenging part would be choosing what formula they wish to use.
'UGHH, I guess I should talk to Ant about this…he knows more about Mage shit than I could ever hope to infer from textbooks alone.' Tossing the Compendium into his inventory, Aoni put his hands behind his head and stared up at the top of the tent before eventually succumbing to sleep.
---
"YOU WANT TO WHAT? ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE!" Anthony screamed at the top of his lungs, making a nearby tower of books fall over due to the sheer volume of his screeching.
"Gotta say, Ant, I've heard you swear more over the last few weeks than in my entire life."
"I wonder why; oh, here's an idea; how bout I start doing Crazy things that are only supposed to work in fantasy novels or anime and break YOUR version of reality? WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A NON-MAGE TRYING TO MAKE MAGIC CIRCLES!" Smacking his face with both hands, Anthony could be seen pacing around the chamber, weaving in and out of book towers before finally arriving in front of Aoni.
"Setting aside the fact that you have a CRAFTING Attribute and not a Mage-based Class, you don't have the proper tools, materials, or PASSIVES to form your first Circle."
*blink…blink*
"GAO!" Trotting her way over to the brothers with a cheeky smile, Glacia dumped out her pack at their feet, spreading out numerous items she'd found within the Mage Tower.
"I mean…" Lifting a foot, Aoni formed two knife hands and pointed at the pile with both palms facing upward while wearing an expression that seemed to scream, "That works, right?".
"Ahhhhhh YOU TWO ARE INSUFFERABLE!" Throwing his hands in the air, Anthony fell to the ground in defeat while looking at the pair of Lord and summon as if they were freaks of nature.
" I mean, you technically didn't say it was impossible…"
"Impossible, improbable, ILLOGICAL, does it even matter what I label it as anymore? You seem to have a knack for making things that shouldn't work…work, so I don't even know what to say anymore…as of right now, I am DONE! DONE, I TELL YOU! Done with being surprised by the weird and random shit you pull off, HMPH."
Crossing his arms and glaring at Aoni for a moment, Ant still went ahead and started pulling out the things his brother could potentially need if he really wanted to go through with this crazy idea.
