Chapter 227: Bones Breaking {TW}

Her ankle, to be precise, as she gritted her teeth together, trying to hold it in as she felt the intensity of Cain’s gaze settle on her again, in a way that made her skin crawl.

But she had just clamped her mouth together, sitting on the ground, trying her best to be silent even as tears filled her purple eyes when she watched as Cain suddenly squatted in front of her with a brutal expression on his face.

His red eyes even redder than before as he looked at her with a sneer on his face and a mocking gaze that made the tears she had been doing her best to hold in slowly start to slide down her face.

"What is this?" she heard him ask in a low tone that grated on her nerves more than she knew was actually possible as he chuckled out loud in amusement.

"You’re acting weak and crying because of a sprain?" he asked, his voice much softer, but instead of feeling relieved, warning bells rang in her head as Violet heard her heart thump harder than before.

The urge to dash away and run swelled in her chest even more than when she had first seen his beast form as she felt him look at her like a piece of meat... even less, like a toy he could play with.

"I haven’t even touched you, and you’re acting like this!"

"What? Because I fucked you... you think I care about you?" His words were more hurtful than the last as Violet lowered her head, unable to even meet his gaze any longer.

"I fucking picked you up regardless of your lies, and you ran from me! I bought you, and you dare to say no!" The displeasure in his tone increased as he spoke until Violet felt his fingers under her jaw, raising her head up to hold her gaze.

Violet’s gaze was mostly blank as she stared back at him, unable to think of what to say as she heard him continue, his hands sliding up her cheeks and into her hair as he grabbed it hard and jerked her head back until she could look nowhere else.

"GET UP!" he yelled at her, still crouched in front of her as he spoke, his hold on her hair tightening with every pull.

"Now!" he snarled, Violet knowing better than not to do as he ordered considering the fact that she could already imagine what would happen next.

Her being pulled by the strands of her hair was the last thing she needed with the raging migraine that was already pounding through her head simply from the way he held her hair.

Biting down on the pain she felt as she ground her teeth together, she stood up, balancing on her good leg, but had barely balanced properly on the ground when she felt Cain stand up at the same time, shooting his leg out to her good ankle and sliding his leg against hers.

The next thing she knew, she was falling to the ground, catching herself with her arms, but that didn’t make it any less painful. Cain’s laughter as he chuckled in amusement was the most painful as she lay on the ground and heard him speak again.

"GET UP! Hurry!" he snapped, making it obvious that he intended to do the same thing again. At this point, she couldn’t help but speak up, only to wish she didn’t.

"Please—" she begged, too tired and in pain to care about anything remotely called pride.

"...Just tell me what you want, and I’ll—" only to be interrupted by a slap that was much harder and more painful than the last one.

Enough to make her entire face immediately swell up and become blazing red. Aware of Cain’s furious expression even before she glanced up to look at him as she covered her red cheek with her hands.

The taste of blood in her mouth as new tears formed on her face, as she felt varying emotions.

She was angry, yes... but beyond that, she was also too scared to move. Cain was someone she could scream at, but the person in front of her gave her the feeling that all she had to do was speak out of turn, and he would pick up a knife and slice off her arm.

Her head hurt... her ankle hurt... her mouth hurt and was bleeding, and the tears just kept coming, which only made her feel even worse as she heard Cain speak again.

"GET UP!" he ordered.

"I won’t repeat myself!!!" he screamed at her, and as much as Violet wanted to scream right back at him, she swallowed it, biting her lip as she slowly used her good leg to scramble off the floor again.

Mentally preparing herself to be once again pushed to the ground as she rested one hand on the door behind her for support.

As much as the voice inside her screamed that all she needed to do was grab the door handle and dash out, she knew better.

Not only would Cain hurt her... he would go ahead and do it in front of everyone else in the mansion.

"I’m sorry, I—" she began to speak, only to feel her leg be pushed out from under her as she again fell to the ground with a loud thump.

Her face blackening in anger as she heard a loud chuckle ring out from Cain as he stood in front of her, rolling up his sleeves, a habit she had seen him do multiple times when torturing people, which only made the space in her chest ache even more than before.

"GET UP!" he ordered again, but this time around, Violet was done.

She was physically tired, and mentally she was on the edge of a breakdown as more tears streamed down her face with abandon, no longer bothered to hold them in.

"Please... please!" she began to vigorously beg, only to hear Cain speak again in his usual cold tone. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

"GET UP!" he ordered again with a hint of warning that made a pit settle in her stomach as she wailed even more, her shoulders shaking and trembling as she gathered the strength to do as he ordered, even while aware of what he was going to do.

But she had just placed both hands on the ground to lift herself and stand up when she suddenly heard Cain speak in a voice heightened with displeasure as she noted the way he stared carefully at her legs.

"On second thought... this is boring," he said with a cruel sneer and an even crueler hint in his gaze as a sly smile appeared on his face as he looked at her.

Violet was confused about what he meant or was trying to say, and the confused expression was still plastered on her face when she suddenly watched him lifting one of his legs.

A loud sensation of alarm and panic rushing through her veins as she hurriedly tried to get off the ground in the same breath, only to feel Cain bring his leg down on her own in the same breath.

Whatever pain Violet had felt before couldn’t be compared to the one she felt at that moment, enough for her to feel like someone was searing her head with a hot knife as the pain traveled through her entire body.

At first, she couldn’t even breathe, not registering the loud sound of bones breaking when Cain crushed her leg with his, only the pain as she screamed as loud as her vocal cords could allow.

So painful! ...Almost as much as when her eyes had been carved out.
