Mated to the Mad Lord-Chapter 228: Shifted
Chapter 228: Shifted
"Oh! Stop your whining! I broke your leg... it’s not like I pulled out your spinal cord!" he snapped in a clearly irritated tone that showed Violet’s screaming and cries were getting on his nerves as she continued to plead.
Tears slid down her cheeks as she stared at the ground, unable to bring herself to look at her leg and see the extent of the damage as she continued to sob more quietly than before.
"If you keep wailing, I don’t mind breaking it into smaller pieces."
Her eyes were red with pain, but the threat was enough to make her immediately quiet down as she raised both hands to cover her mouth, even as her entire body trembled and tears continued to pour down her face.
Her head rang and pounded, no longer able to bring herself to look at Cain as she simply sat there, regretting ever hesitating to run away when the chance had presented itself.
But just when she was convinced that it couldn’t get worse... it did, as she felt Cain suddenly grab her arm and pull her off the ground.
Pain shot through her entire body with no choice but to use her sprained leg to stand after Cain had broken the good one.
Her head remained lowered as tears continued to stream down her face, not so much as blinking once as she felt her body flung right into the huge bed in the bedroom wing of Cain’s room.
"Take off your clothes!" he snapped at her, and for a second, Violet simply froze before she suddenly began to chuckle in a low tone.
This was, of course, surprising to Cain since it was the last thing he expected, his red eyes blazing with curiosity as he moved closer and hovered over her body, turning her around as he stared at her smiling face.
His expression was not the least bit amused, with no signs of humor to be found. His gaze was cold and sinister as he opened his mouth to speak.
"What’s so funny?" he asked her, and Violet only chuckled more in response, her smile widening with each chuckle.
"Isn’t it? It’s actually really—" only to be interrupted by a slap that was enough to leave her ears ringing and pain coursing through her entire face, even as tears welled up in her eyes.
The pain in her leg was still there, and compared to that, the slap paled in comparison as Violet slowly turned a pained look at him and grinned a bloody grin.
"Is that the best you can do? That was wea—" but she didn’t get to finish again.
Cain gripped her neck hard enough to strangle all the breath out of her trachea as he scowled at her.
"If you’re begging me to kill you, you’re doing a good job!" he barked at her, but even the fact that she could barely breathe didn’t bother her as Violet fixed a blank look at him.
"You can’t kill me, can you?" she said, ignoring how dizzy her vision was slowly becoming, not surprised to feel Cain suddenly pull his hand away a few seconds before she fully blacked out.
Violet coughed and grabbed her throat, which she was convinced was already filled with purple bruises that had already hewn themselves into her skin.
"Has the pain made you delirious? Or is it too painful that you’d rather force me to kill you?"
But Violet was already shaking her head even before he was done speaking, even as she coughed and coughed, tears filling her eyes again as she leaned to the side before turning to look squarely at him as she spoke.
"I don’t know what caused this fucking personality split, but at the end of the day, you’re still Cain!"
"You have his body and face, and you’re probably a small part of his mind!"
"The Cain I know needs me! What do you think he’ll do to anyone that kills me? He can’t kill himself! You’re nothing but a broken part of him!"
"...why do you think you can’t remember—"
But Violet was barely done speaking when Cain’s face slowly wrenched into something completely wretched and nasty, enough to make her doubt her own assumptions and come to the conclusion that she was about to die and he was about to do it.
His expression was monstrous as he stared at her with blazing red eyes, an expression that looked like he was seconds away from gorily biting her head off.
"LIAR!!! LIES!!! YOU ARE FUCKING LYING!" he screamed loud enough for Violet to yell in pain as she raised her hands up, even as the room shook simply from the loudness and intensity of his screams.
His voice was human at first until it slowly became animalistic as he raised his hands to his head and began to hit it hard enough that if he were human, his skull would have become nothing more than a broken pulp of flesh.
It was grotesque, and even with Cain’s healing power, the blood that stamped his hands and the wounds that showed were vicious.
"LIAR! I’M ME! ME!" he growled, and in a split second, it was obvious to Violet that he was on the brink of turning, which terrified her as she immediately scrambled off the bed.
Her heart raced furiously in her chest, unable to make sense of what was happening around her as she heard Cain growl even louder, his fingernails slowly turning into claws until he became soaked in his own blood.
The sound of bones breaking in a way that couldn’t have been painless as different parts of his body began to morph in a way that showed that the transformation wasn’t normal.
Violet recalled what Cain had once mentioned about werewolves losing their minds to their beasts, even as she wondered if that was what was happening at the moment.
’Is he losing himself?’ she wondered to herself, her heart vigorously racing in her chest, unable to take her eyes off what was happening.
The pain still coursing through her body made her even more acutely aware that whatever was happening—no matter how bad and gory—was real and not a figment of her imagination.
Crawling to the floor and against the wall, Violet hid there, aware that she couldn’t make it to the door before she was squashed to pulp even if she tried as she watched Cain turn—the size of which was just as big as when she had seen him at the council. freёnovelkiss.com
A wolf beast form that was huge enough to reach more than halfway to the high ceilings.Limbs that made her feel like an ant even from where she stood.
Looking on, all she could mumble to herself were three words over and over again.
"This is not normal!"
"This is not normal!"
"This is not normal!"
She mumbled to herself, shivering in fear and staring at her hands on her lap.
Only to look up and realize that not only did the beast look like what she had said... he also seemed to be pissed, probably at what she said.
