Mated to the Mad Lord-Chapter 234: Calm but...
Chapter 234: Calm but...
Barking out in anger the very next second.
"GUARDS!"
The guards dashed into the room like rabbits on fire.
They were just about to kneel in front of William like they usually did in response to his summons when they suddenly froze.
Looking around the room with immense shock followed by fear, they fell to their knees even as William’s aura placed immense pressure on their bodies.
He might be ill, but he was still a lord.
"Do any of you see my lover where I left her?" he asked them, his voice as cold as ice even as he seethed in anger.
"I ORDERED YOU TO WATCH HER!" he barked, struggling to reign in his anger as he heard the guards begin to profusely stammer out apologies, which he had no time for.
"BRING ALL THE PEOPLE THAT ENTERED THIS ROOM!" William ordered in a fierce manner that had both guards scampering off the ground and out the door even as he waited.
William had been careful, and the fear that Fiona would go looking for Eldric scared him as he immediately began dialing numbers.
Using his authority as the district lord to shut down all airports and airfields so that no plane could leave for the next few hours.
Intent on finding her before she could leave. He was aware that she wanted to reach out to Eldric for the antidote, but all she would discover was that he was a dying man who was bound to die, and her child was bound to be fatherless—something she wasn’t sure she could allow.
"Fucking women!!!" he screamed, his voice bouncing against the wall as he turned around and punched his hand into the wall, deep enough to leave a hole in it as he continued to simmer in anger.
He was usually calm, but the thought that all his plans were about to be for naught terrified him, especially since no matter what happened, he couldn’t leave...his body was too damaged for him to live for more than a month.
The more he thought about it, the angrier he became as he heard footsteps. He turned to look in the direction of the entrance and saw the two guards he had sent off walk in with three people—female servants, all of whom he recognized as women who served Fiona.
They had just bowed, murmuring greetings to him under their breaths, when William, ignoring them, stretched out his hand to the guard, asking for the sword he had around his waist or the holster of the gun...either of the weapons was fine with him.
The guard didn’t hesitate to pull out the sword, handing it to William, who swung it the second the blade got to his hand, right at the throat of the guard. The guard, a werewolf, would have easily avoided it if not for the fact that his head had been bowed, and the last thing he expected was for his sword to be used against him.
It was a clean slice as his head fell off his shoulders, blood splattering everywhere, even as horror befell the faces of everyone there except William, who looked extremely calm...too calm as he turned to the other guard, whose legs shook like he was about to piss himself.
His focus was on the three women who knelt on the ground, trembling like leaves.
"I’ll ask the questions, and I expect the truth—nothing but the truth!" he said, the threat in his tone so clear that they all nodded their heads vigorously, even though two of them looked so pale it was a shock that they had not already fainted and passed out on the ground.
William didn’t hesitate to ask each of them what Fiona said to them, the first immediately giving a detailed description of what had happened.
But she had just finished speaking when he killed her with a flash of the blade, a sneer on his face.
"She’s lying!" he stated, even though it was clear that she wasn’t, but it was enough for the second woman to kiss the floor as she spoke, stating that she had just entered when she had specifically been sent to call Flora.
"The-the guard can testify!" she pleaded, but the so-called guard didn’t dare raise his head.
Yes, she didn’t enter, but that didn’t mean Fiona couldn’t have given her a message first before sending her out!
Wouldn’t he die a fool’s death if he were to vouch for someone like that? Instead of responding, he simply bowed his head lower, even as he heard the slick ring of the blade against flesh, a scream barely erupting from her throat before she fell dead on the ground.
William clearly had no intention of allowing any of them to leave, and by the time it was Flora’s turn, she might have been shy and timid, but she wasn’t a fool. Her entire body shook from the tips of her brown curly hair to her tiny feet, her short and skinny body trembling as tears streamed down her face.
"SPEAK!" William ordered, even as Flora opened her mouth.
"I-I just—" but she was still heavily stammering when the next second, Flora gasped, her eyes and lashes fluttering closed as she fell straight to the ground.
For a second, William couldn’t help but wonder if she was dead until he looked closer and realized that she had simply fainted.
She’s a human! the guard wanted to say, but his partner’s headless body was still lying beside him, and William still held the blade, which made him hold his mouth tightly shut, his head still lowered as he desperately prayed to be ignored.
Flora fainting pissed him off beyond words since it was clear that Fiona had spoken to Flora for longer than the orders.
"Pick her up and take her to the dungeon...I’ll interrogate her myself!" William said, rolling up his sleeves as he headed out of the room, even as the guard hurriedly moved to do as he was asked.
A slight expression of pity on his face as he stared at the body of the young servant he picked up.
Death would have been a better fate than what’s about to happen, the guard thought, especially since he had been to the dungeon and although their lord appeared calm and normal, only the guards knew that he was a calm lord who sometimes enjoyed torturing humans, werewolves, and Reds for pleasure.
Especially werewolves with their regenerative abilities.
At least you’re human! he thought, heaving her on his shoulder as he headed quickly behind Lord William, knowing better than to keep him waiting, especially with the blade still in his hand.
Getting to the main market hadn’t been easy, but still, she was a bit glad that regardless of how late it was, the roads were brightly lit, and even more people who seemed to be returning from work kept on branching in to buy things they would use to prepare dinner.
This is a good spot! she thought to herself even as she stood on a two-story restaurant and looked down from the window, sitting there sipping on water, too poor to buy anything after informing the waiter that she was still looking over the menu.
Her heart was thumping heavily in her chest, but at the same time, she had gone too far to back out.
The thought of seeing her father was a bittersweet feeling, but at the same time, she was aware of the kind of man he was.
He couldn’t be manipulated or coerced into doing anything he didn’t want to, and worse...the fact that she had chosen to stay with William would only make him madder than usual as she slowly went through every word she would say to him in her head.
Should she tell him that she was pregnant? Is that something he would care about and be happy about, or something he would immediately see a need to get rid of?
No matter how much she thought about it, it was hard to come to a conclusion until she saw the way he reacted to seeing her, her eyes wet as she desperately hoped that for once in her life, he would actually take her side.
With different thoughts going through her mind, she had just looked down at the plaza at the same time only to jerk up a bit in shock as she saw a fleet of black cars arrive, which meant only one thing.
Her father had arrived!
