Chapter 241: The Time To Die

"Fiona!" Eldric loudly called her name, moving closer to her, only for William to step in front of her with a dark look on his face.

"Fiona is my lover! Back off!" William snapped, but Eldric simply sent a confused look at him, even as his gaze slowly darkened to match William’s.

"Not only did you kidnap her, but you dared to hurt her in such a way, and yet you still speak!"

"William, how dare you!" his voice raged as he spoke in indignation.

"Regardless of whatever you had against me, there was no reason for you to take it out on my daughter!"

"ARE YOU MAD!" William snapped, but Eldric only doubled down even more.

"Look at her! If it wasn’t you, how could she have possibly been kidnapped from your mansion in your own district!"

"...And you call yourself a lord?" Eldric continued with a sneer on his face, even as Fiona continued to hold on to William’s arm, no longer able to stand back as she stepped forward with her head still lowered, unable to raise it like she would before, tears filling her eyes.

"Father...William! William loves me...he-he would never hurt me!" she tried to explain.

She didn’t know who did it, but she was convinced that William wouldn’t, but she was barely done speaking when Eldric dug into the side pockets of his suit and brought out a small recorder with a cold and sinister smile on his face.

"I would have agreed with you if I also hadn’t listened to his conversation. To think I gave you the antidote to save him..." he continued in a melancholic tone as he instantly pressed a button on it, a second before William’s voice began to play from it.

’Love her? Of course, I don’t! I’m just using her against her father.’

’How can I ever love someone like her? Worse, her father poisoned me! If I had my way, she wouldn’t be breathing!’

William couldn’t help but be taken aback because it was indeed his voice and definitely something he had said before, which was even more shocking to him as he stared at Eldric.

His first thought was that Eldric had somehow managed to bug his office, even as he felt his heart thump in fear that all his plans were about to unravel.

He tried to keep a straight look on his face, but his eyes revealed something that terrified Fiona, who, although had been staring at the ground, still raised her head to look at William when she heard the recording.

Tears welled in her eyes as she stared at William, who finally caught her looking and immediately began to deny it.

"You can’t possibly think he’s telling the truth!" he said with such a soft expression on his face, even as the recording continued to play in a way that made it difficult to understand what was true and what wasn’t.

Seeing as how he was being accused, William didn’t hesitate to toss the accusations right back at Eldric.

"...he’s the one who kidnapped you and scarred you! Who else could have the resources?" he accused, pointing his finger, but Fiona was already vigorously shaking her head as she took a step back.

A hint of a smile in Eldric’s eyes as he began to speak in a pleading tone, even as Fiona continued to shake her head with her head lowered to the ground.

"Fiona, please! Open your eyes! William doesn’t love you! He kidnapped you and manipulated you to get to me!"

"Why else did he lock you up?"

"I would never have scarred you! Ever! I love you more than my own life!" William pleaded right back, even as Fiona kept stepping back, almost like she wanted to distance herself away from whatever was going on and the both of them.

The thought that any of them could have hurt her in such a way was too much for her to comprehend.

But the more she stepped away from William, the more pissed he got as he realized that he was losing her.

Understanding that it was Eldric’s plan from the start, and he didn’t even care if Fiona believed him as long as she distanced herself from William.

William’s anger boiled to the peak until he could take it no longer, and he ordered the men on his side to attack with a single command that had them bringing out their guns filled with silver bullets.

Of course, he was aware that he was weak, and although werewolves frowned on guns when fighting and the use of silver against other werewolves was banned, they were in his district, and it wasn’t like anyone was going to find out.

"Attack!" he ordered, but his voice had barely echoed when his bodyguards began to shoot at Eldric’s men, who indeed hadn’t expected it, having already taken out a batch of William’s guards with a missile.

Eldric wasn’t one to wait for death as he instantly ordered his guards to transform, but he didn’t, a cruel smile flashing across his face as he stared intensely at William, who raised his hand to wipe the blood streaming down his face, even as growls filled the air around them.

The fighting intensified, and the smell of blood filled the air, even as Fiona shook on the spot where she was, and Fervor stood right beside her, aware of William’s orders, which had been to protect her.

"Father!" Fiona tried to call out, about to speak more, only for Eldric to shut her up.

"...don’t!" he snapped in a commanding tone.

"He hurt you, and he deserves to die. You might not understand it now, but you’ll understand it later!" he told her, even as he stood in front of William, who also drew out a gun from his pocket with a sneer on his face.

"...like you could kill me!" William snapped with a bloody smile on his face, having been trying hard to hide the fact that the blood streaming down his nose wasn’t the only thing, as his mouth was just as bloody.

William, more than anyone else, was aware of the state of his body, and at that moment, he knew that even if by some miracle he were to survive the day, he wouldn’t survive the week.

Which left only one last thing to do. However, his heart wrestled against it, and his entire body wanted to fight against it, but at the same time, it had been something he had been waiting for.

It hurt, but as long as his heir survived and he got revenge against his killer, no matter how small, then...it was simply his time to die.

He spat out the bloody spit in his mouth, which had Fiona lunging forward in alarm, only for Fervor to step right in front of her with his hands spread out to show that she wasn’t to take another step.

"The only reason I haven’t taken you away from here is because William hasn’t ordered it!" indirectly telling her that if she forced his hand and acted recklessly, he wouldn’t hesitate to do it.

His voice was still as cold and as neutral as ever, and his face was just the same, even as Fiona completely ignored him, her entire attention on William.

William wouldn’t hurt me like this? she internally thought, frozen on the spot, and at the same time, she couldn’t envision her father doing the same to her. freeweɓnovel.cѳm

He had raised her for her beauty and groomed her personally for such a reason. The more she thought about it, the harder it was to comprehend why either of them would scar her to such an extent.

But she was still thinking about it when she suddenly discarded all thoughts as she suddenly watched her father shift into his wolf form, her heart in her throat as she watched him dash straight for William, who raised the gun in his hand, aimed, and shot.

Twice in quick succession, the sound loud enough to boom around them in a way that terrified Fiona to the bone, even more when she saw her father’s wolf jerk back in a way that showed that he had been hit.
