Mythology Rebooted-Chapter 424 - 195: The Cream Cake Tastes So Good
Chapter 424: Chapter 195: The Cream Cake Tastes So Good
November 25th, evening.
The cruise ship, delayed by a full day, reached Dublin Bay in the Republic of Ireland. As the capital and largest city of the Republic of Ireland, and also the second-largest city in the Windsor Federation just after Lundan, Dublin was rich in history and culture, warm in winter and cool in summer, with scenic beauty, making it a tourist destination.
Unfortunately, for the group with the Queen’s secret orders, no matter how nice the scenery in Dublin was, it was irrelevant to them.
The group took a luxury train from Dublin to Fasker City in Northern Ireland, where the Snow Family was located. Ireland and Northern Ireland were both part of the Windsor Federation, with railways connecting them, making transit very convenient.
As a well-known port city in Northern Ireland, Belfast City had convenient maritime transport, and the group could have travelled directly there from Liverpool.
Wayne disagreed, insisting on taking a detour to Dublin Bay and then traveling by train overland.
As the chief of the investigation team, what he said went. By citing the precaution of Snow Family ambushes, he left the others with no room for objection.
Indeed, as he suspected, the Snow Family had set up an ambush; the deliberate sabotage of the cruise ship was the best proof.
The luxury train’s dining car.
Wayne savored his supper, with Viola on his left cutting his cake and Mona on his right dabbing his mouth with a silk handkerchief. He swirled the red wine in his hand, feeling as though he had reached the pinnacle of life.
Across from him was Veronica, with a sullen face, as if everyone owed her money.
Wayne knew Mona and Viola were doing it on purpose and didn’t stop them. He held back laughs while waiting for Veronica to explode.
He had obtained the Obelisk, and during the train transfer, he had sent it away via Shadowmare. His main mission for this trip was successfully accomplished, and he was fully satisfied, only looking for some entertainment.
The Queen’s secret orders were indeed important, and the Snow Family did indeed deserve to be cracked down on, but valuables come in different levels. Compared to the Obelisk, the Snow Family was worth nothing. Once they arrived, a few official phrases would suffice to consider the mission complete.
Before that, the spectacle of three women playing out like a show was just too good to miss.
"Wayne, the cream cake is so delicious!"
Viola cut a piece of cake and devoured it herself, her eyes narrowing into crescents with happiness. Then she cut another piece and fed it to Wayne.
Using the same fork, without any scruples.
Veronica had scruples; those of Dragon Blood were fiercely possessive. She twisted the dinner knife into a twist and shot Viola a fierce glance.
"Viola, you might not know that Wayne is the heir to the Lando Family, and the Queen has already recognized him!"
She bit her words heavily. This was the first time she had mentioned Wayne’s identity as an heir to others publicly. Whatever the implicit message, she believed Viola would understand.
Viola gasped, taking another big bite of cake to stifle her shock: "How can this be, Wayne is actually Mister Lando’s illegitimate child!"
Damn it, still playing dumb and cute here!
Veronica was so angry her chest swelled. She put down the twisted knife, leaned forward, and grabbed both sides of Viola’s cheeks, kneading them like dough.
"You dummy, you know very well he’s not, he became an heir for another reason!"
"So? What’s the other reason? I’m so dumb, how could I possibly understand."
Viola struggled free, covering her flushed cheeks as she retorted righteously, "Veronica, I advise you not to underestimate dumb people. If you don’t say it, how could I possibly understand."
Veronica froze in place, admitting Wayne’s status as an heir was already mortifying for her, and she only dared to say it under the guise of bullying Viola. To make her declare the truth was more agonizing than death.
"That’s right, don’t underestimate dumb people. You have no idea how dumb we can be."
Wayne perked up, joining the chorus of reproach alongside Viola.
Mona also joined in, her face full of curiosity: "So what is the reason, Veronica? Exactly what is it?"
The three of them were in cahoots, pretending to be ignorant while clearly understanding. It was obvious they had decided to make a fool of Veronica.
If you don’t tell us, don’t blame us for feigning ignorance. x2
"Veronica, you gonna say something?" Wayne fanned the flames, urging her on.
Veronica plopped down, turned her head to look out of the window, her heart filled with grief, and stayed silent.
"I had no idea, it turns out Wayne is also Veronica’s brother..."
Viola was all smiles as she offered the cake to Wayne, it was unclear what the intent of her actions was; it was as if she was passing an assist to Wayne or finding a reason for herself. Either interpretation made sense.
"Wayne, let’s play cards tonight!"
"No, I need a good sleep tonight. There’s a task waiting for me when we arrive in the morning, work is important. Once I’m done, I will play with you."
Wayne swallowed the cake in one bite, smiling at Veronica with a look of amused affection at her aggrieved appearance, which was also endearing.
After the four of them left the dining car, Sandi and Denis, the aunt-niece pair, finally dared to enter.
Having seen the live-action silver screen equivalent right before them, and with an extra girl joining mid-way, Denis held her aunt’s worldly experience in awe, while also gaining a deeper understanding of the Lando Family.
A playboy father, a playboy son, genetic inheritance without a doubt; definitely his father’s son.
She would tell her colleagues about the trip when she got back, warning them to be careful in the future not to be fooled by the sweet talk of the little playboy.
Just because Sir Wayne sounded pleasant didn’t mean he was a good man; he was too flirtatious, being fawned over by three beautiful women in unseemly relationships all along the way.
And all in one cabin, together!

The next day dawned.
At Fasker City train station, a line of black vehicles had been waiting for a long time.
The man and woman at the head of the group were from the Snow Family, Adelaide the current family head, and Marianne the third sister, the former’s attire and demeanor gentlemanly, his beard neatly trimmed with a sense of authority, while the latter was sultry in appearance, her red hair in big waves, her lineage showing strong local Irish characteristics.
