No Trespassing! My Aloof Brother-Chapter 50 - 48: Reap What You Sow
Chapter 50: Chapter 48: Reap What You Sow
Maya heard that Elijah Reed wanted to help her, and she laughed coldly, a bitter smile.
She thought to herself, what could he possibly do to Liam Spencer? She herself relied on Liam Spencer to make a living. Who in S City would dare touch Liam Spencer? Even Grandpa is somewhat afraid of him, and even his own father dares not provoke him.
As an illegitimate daughter whom no one cares about, what could she do to him?
However, Elijah’s intention to help her take revenge was, to Maya, the funniest joke she had ever heard.
To avoid implicating Elijah, and to ensure he could keep his meal ticket, she said coldly, "No one bullied me, you should go back!"
"Miss Maya, but the injuries on your body."
"The injuries on my body will heal!" Maya quickly interrupted Elijah Reed, not wanting anyone to mention her injuries.
She knew Elijah sympathized with her and had helped her, but he was still Liam Spencer’s man. Even with sympathy, what good would it do?
Moreover, the fewer people who knew about these disgraceful things, the better.
"Miss Maya, please rest. I will go to work now and come back to see you in the afternoon." With that, Elijah left the ward.
He could tell that Maya was in a bad mood, very emotional. She didn’t want to see him, and he couldn’t comfort her. Rather than being here and making her upset, it was better to leave her alone.
After Elijah left, Maya curled up in the hospital bed. She didn’t want to return to the Spencer Family, but she had no choice.
However, for the past two days, she decided to avoid it if she could.
In the principal’s office at the school, Liam felt restless at his desk, as if something was bothering him. This feeling had lingered since four in the morning, lasting over ten hours now.
He had told her not to appear in front of him, and indeed, she hadn’t shown up for a full ten hours; he hadn’t even caught a glimpse of her.
He suddenly remembered that he had promised her there would be cake today, yet he hadn’t expected that overnight, their relationship would become like this.
What bothered him even more was that he couldn’t get Maya out of his mind. He wanted to forget her, act as if she didn’t matter, but inadvertently, he kept thinking of her.
Be it annoyance or resentment, she occupied his thoughts nonetheless.
If time could reverse, he would have definitely pulled her out of the room last night and kept her away from him.
At the same time, Liam became increasingly convinced that he had been drugged. His mental state was evidently not normal, unfortunately, when he had the doctor come for a blood test in the morning, the doctor said nothing could be detected.
"BOSS!"
As Liam was lost in thought, Elijah Reed came back, looking furious and unhappy.
Liam glanced at him and indifferently asked, "Where did you go at noon?"
"I went to see Miss Maya; she’s ill." Elijah spoke gloomily, with a trace of heartache in his words.
"Hmm!" Yet all Liam offered was a simple hmm.
Elijah’s vigilance heightened at Liam’s attitude; he couldn’t understand why the BOSS was so calm, not even asking where Miss Maya felt unwell.
Did something happen between the BOSS and Miss Maya while he was away? It couldn’t be! Hadn’t their conflicts been resolved?
So, taking a deep breath, he mustered the courage to report to Liam again, "BOSS, Miss Maya was bullied."
"Hmm!"
"BOSS, why so calm? Miss Maya truly was bullied, and this time it’s not slander nor just a schoolyard fight. When I went to her dorm and found her unconscious, I noticed injuries all over her body, even her chin was bitten. Fortunately, I showed up in time and took her to the hospital. The doctor said if we had been any later, she would have been in grave danger."
Liam’s calm demeanor finally made Elijah explode. He stood gesturing wildly in front of Liam’s desk, describing everything vividly.
But after hearing this, someone’s face turned pale. He hadn’t expected Elijah to take Maya to the hospital.
He also hadn’t foreseen that he would lose control last night and injure her so badly. The only thing he remembered was her trembling under his grip and being too weak to resist.
Feeling disgusted with his own acts of violence, he detested himself, but even more despised Maya. At the same time, he felt that all of this was self-inflicted by Maya, as she shamelessly approached and tempted him.
Seeing Liam’s changing expression, Elijah assumed Liam was shocked, just like he was, astonished at Miss Maya’s plight.
So, he continued, "It must be Madame’s doing; she must have found someone to harm Miss Maya. Those men are utterly vile, absolutely despicable. Miss Maya’s toes were even bitten; she doesn’t have a piece of intact skin."
"Did you see it?" Liam looked at the indignant Elijah, lifted his head, and squinted his eyes at him.
"No, it was what the doctor said. She was applying medicine to Miss Maya while cursing and even mentioned calling the police! She said that Miss Maya had surely been violated. BOSS, I think it’s a serious matter, and we should report it too."
Elijah was entirely unaware that Liam’s reaction wasn’t due to concern for Maya but because he was the one being cursed, he was displeased.
Soon after, Liam exhaled deeply and spoke to Elijah in a serious tone, "Elijah, anyone you pity must have something hateful about them."
"BOSS, but Miss Maya is different! She’s not hateful at all, just a bit aloof. But she’s been forced by her environment!"
At this moment, all Elijah felt towards Maya was sympathy, and he was trying to persuade Liam to stand up for her, to not let her suffer in vain. As Liam’s assistant, seeing the BOSS’s sister being bullied made it hard for him to swallow.
"Elijah, aren’t you supposed to be working?"
With Elijah repeatedly mentioning Miss Maya, he completely angered Liam. He was already irritated by how that woman lingered in his mind, and Elijah kept murmuring her name over and over. He was vexed.
Seeing Liam’s anger, Elijah hurriedly shut his mouth, raised his hands, and made a cross with his index fingers over his lips to signal that he’d stop speaking.
Only after seeing Liam roll his eyes indifferently at him did Elijah slink away from the office dejectedly.
After Elijah left, Liam let out another long sigh, still feeling restless. Thinking of someone made him feel disgusted and angry again.
This feeling persisted until after school, continued until he returned home, and hadn’t dissipated.
When Liam returned home, Henry Reid happened to arrive with a cake.
Seeing the cake in Henry’s hand, Liam laughed coldly, thinking to himself, She really is a... petty... woman. Yesterday she portrayed a pitiful scene in front of him, bemoaning the lack of cake, no birthday song. But look, isn’t there someone here now?
When Henry saw Liam return, he asked with a smile, "Liam, where’s Maya? Did she ride with you?"
