Perfect Avatar-Chapter 271: Empire Of Wolves
Chapter 271: Empire Of Wolves
Dora looked at the palms of his hands anxiously, Midgard tilted her head and nodded to Apophis.
Both Players stood behind Dora, waiting to act, there was nothing else to do anyway.
"Never in my life have I felt the need to hit myself so hard... Hm? Wait, I feel like that’s happened before..."
He raised his eyebrows, then turned to Midgard and Apophis.
"Question, you both came during the first occurrence of the Twilight of Gods, right? Not before."
"Correct." Apophis nodded. "The Players come from the same place and our starting point in this world was the Twilight of Gods."
Dora scratched his chin and narrowed his eyes.
"If that’s true, then there’s an anomaly. You know each other pretty well, don’t you? Mid, you talked about a lot of other players once... by the way, you two are snakes, right? Are you related?"
"Little boyfriend, are you related to all the gray-haired traps in the world?"
"...What’s wrong with... Oh, unless... Rhea is a boy?"
Apophis shook her head then looked at him in disbelief, the worst part at that moment was that Dora seemed very serious.
Next to her, Midgard rolled her eyes.
"Let’s stop being stupid and focus, I see where you’re going. It’s about this Eva, right?"
She crossed her arms and moved her lips.
"I don’t remember anyone like that among us. I knew others like Apophis and Fafnir, but a Player of human? Never."
She glanced at Apophis, the latter shook her head in turn.
"Same, I don’t remember a Player of human, but... When I used the power of Envy, I learned that someone with a very long life had remorse towards the invader The only people with this longevity were the Queen, Wrath, and potentially every other player alive at that time. There’s no way this Gluttony felt remorse, Wrath was no longer human, so the only option is a Player. Midgard and I are proof that a normal Player wouldn’t be connected to him."
Elizabeth sat on the floor, trying to look as focused as possible.
"...Hm, now I realize, where are the other players? Only seven found a sin, right? So, shouldn’t there be more than several helpless Players out there? Or Were you only seven?"
Apophis shook her head.
"Most of those who couldn’t obtain an Avatar before running out of power were executed by humans. We were attracted by some sort of probability of appearance. To put it simply, we could find out where an Avatar would appear, so some searched for the Power Zone, Ambrosia, Kalaharis and Fenrir. No one reached Sloth... The others succeeded, except Hecate who found Lust, but Lust found a way to awakening without a Player, so Hecate attacked him and was killed. I don’t know who got Wrath, Rhea, and Glutonny, but I know they lost too... So in the end, only six found an Avatar."
She twisted a lock of her hair, feeling a little melancholy.
"There weren’t that many of us and we didn’t know each other very well. I remember the appearance and the name of Midgard, but underneath there is noth..."
She suddenly froze, her eyes wide. She crossed her arms, falling into deep thought, then her eyes turned to Midgard.
"How long lasted the first Twilight of Gods?"
"...Hm...I don’t remember. The pink Player said it didn’t last that long, did you find anything?"
Apophis placed a hand on her head, closing her eyes tightly.
"I...I might be wrong...but...I feel like...There’s an anomaly...We shouldn’t lose our power unless the rift is closed... but my power immediately diminished?"
She made an effort to collect all her thoughts, but after a while she sat down on the ground angrily.
"Stupid... I have the power to know everything but I was too focused on getting Cleo back rather than hearing the full story... and it was for nothing!"
Elizabeth handed her a piece of bread that she had taken out of her bag.
They all sat around trying to figure out the fuzzy part of the story, but quickly realized it was no use.
There were too many mysteries and their memories were too confused.
Dora nodded, looking up at the sky.
"If only this Eva could talk more, but she won’t tell him anything... Hm?... What?!"
He stood up abruptly, Midgard instantly imitating him, both sharing the same expression.
"Damn it, I forgot about the difference in time!"
"What’s goin’ on? Is this about Mercy?!"
As they all stood up, waiting for a response, Dora and Midgard were both deeply shocked.
"Damn...I forgot we had Angelo’s power."
"Angelo? What about Angelo?" Elizabeth walked towards them.
Dora placed a hand on his head, gritting his teeth.
"We underestimated Fenrir’s dynamism... They have already started."
At the same time, outside on a volcanic island, hundreds of black dimensional holes closed.
Below, a gigantic army of black knights began their march, carrying their luminous weapons.
At the front of the line were Giudecca, Lucca and Marie, walking to the edge of a cliff where Zury stood behind Dora, Rhea and Eva.
Eva looked at the center of the island and the large volcano emitting smoke.
Her eyes glowed a bright pink, then she nodded slightly.
"He’s here, inside the volcano."
The smoke emitted from the volcano was pitch black, forming a cloud of smoke in the sky.
Everyone began to release their aura, in anticipation of the impending cataclysm.
Rhea extinguished her sword, showing no emotion on her face.
"So, anything to share about the opponent?"
Dora massaged his wrist before sharing a glance with the General.
"It’s an overkill."
"Just like any other battle then. Let’s go."
Both of them stood side by side in front, their aura emerging like a calm sphere merging and engulfing everyone.
Giudecca and Lucca’s eyes glowed purple, Marie took off, Zury knelt on the ground, and finally Eva clasped her hand in prayer.
"I’m sorry it’s come to this, I pray to God that your suffering doesn’t last long."
She lowered her head, eyes closed, then whispered.
"Engage."
Rhea took a step forward and delivered a single blow into the air.
The atmosphere turned white and purple, a deafening sound swallowed up all other noise, followed by the earthquake of impact.
All vegetation retreated, the winds destroyed rocks and soil, a terrible icy cloud spread in all directions, followed by a drastic change in temperature.
Dora didn’t flinch, but his eyes widened briefly, the attack left nothing to the imagination, but one thing was certain: the volcano representing the ground surface of the island had been destroyed.
A snowflake fell to the ground, then another, the volcanic island had just transformed into a land of snow, but unlike the calm of white, the ground kept shaking, louder and louder.
Eva, eyes closed, raised her head.
"He is coming."
The earth shook with enormous power, the ice began to crack and then tear.
Below, the earth was red, then an explosion opened the earth.
The width of the island opened up to reveal the gates of hell, spreading a pair of giant black wings.
A tremendous roar rose to the sky, echoing across the horizon.
Dora’s eyes narrowed and glowed yellow.
"Long time no see."
