Pokémon: Chronicles of Freedom-Chapter 654 - 653: Team Aqua’s Plan
Chapter 654 - 653: Team Aqua's Plan
After capturing Bagon, Cain was finally able to resolve a significant matter on his mind. As a pseudo-legendary Pokémon from the Hoenn region and a pure Dragon-type, Bagon's future potential would not be inferior to that of Larvitar.
Moreover, Bagon's final form, Salamence, like Tyranitar, is capable of Mega Evolution.
With the knowledge Cain possesses—far superior to anyone else in the Pokémon world—having more Pokémon capable of Mega Evolution would only bring greater benefits in the future.
Cain patted Bagon's head, offering the new team member his first gesture of praise.
"Bagon, eat something first, but remember not to eat too much at once. In your current state, you can only handle a maximum of fifteen Pokéblocks."
"After digesting those, you'll be able to eat more. Mismagius, make sure to watch over him," Cain instructed, trusting Mismagius to oversee the process.
"Miiis!" Mismagius responded cheerfully, as if receiving an important order.
Since witnessing Bagon's living conditions, Mismagius had transformed completely into a sort of protective older sister. Her mentality seemed to have matured, and she paid close attention to everything concerning Bagon. Cain knew the task couldn't be in better hands.
It was as if a woman had suddenly become a mother after giving birth. That seemed to be the change Mismagius had undergone.
Finally, Cain had time to deal with the two captured Team Aqua members.
Both were tied up with the vines Floette had created. Still affected by the cold and having seen their Pokémon defeated by Cain, the two knew they had no hope of survival. They seemed resigned to their fate.
Cain slowly approached them and crouched in front of the woman named Rina, ignoring the man, who was merely muscle without much brainpower and held no interest for him.
"What is Team Aqua doing here?" Cain asked directly, looking into her vacant eyes.
Rina had lost all will to resist. Without her Pokémon, she knew she couldn't survive in this place, so she had no reason to hide anything.
"Lady Shelly ordered us to come to Meteor Falls to collect data and maps," Rina replied, her voice devoid of emotion.
Hearing this, Cain was intrigued and continued to ask, "What is the purpose of collecting that information?"
Rina's eyes showed a flicker of emotion, a spark of fervor. "It's for the arrival of the great god of the sea. What we're doing here is just a small contribution to that purpose. When the god of the sea descends, the entire world will be covered by oceans."
The god of the sea Rina referred to had to be the legendary Pokémon of the Hoenn region from ancient times: Kyogre.
"Kyogre?" Cain asked.
Rina's dull eyes reignited with fervor. Despite knowing she was about to die, her devotion to Kyogre didn't waver.
"Alright. I think I understand the situation. Gengar, take care of them," Cain ordered Gengar.
"Kekeke!" Gengar let out a sinister laugh before merging with the shadows of both prisoners. Gradually, life drained from their bodies as Gengar absorbed their energy—a source it needed to grow stronger.
During Gengar's evolution, an elder at Mt. Pyre had thrown a black crystal at it. Cain still didn't know exactly what the crystal was, but the abilities Gengar had gained after absorbing some of the crystal's energy were new to him.
Although he didn't know if the crystal would have any side effects on Gengar, when Cain scanned it with his system, everything appeared normal, even showing a tendency to strengthen, so he decided not to worry too much.
Perhaps the next time he visited Mt. Pyre, he could find out more.
Incidentally, after leaving Mt. Pyre, Cain had sent a message to his master, Matsuda Takashi, asking him to inform the president of the Hoenn League that someone was waiting for him at Mt. Pyre.
He wasn't sure if Phoebe had already surfaced.
Cain set those thoughts aside for now and looked at the lifeless bodies of the Team Aqua members. Then he remembered something important.
Team Aqua and Team Magma were searching for Kyogre and Groudon, and one of the key pieces they needed to awaken these legendary Pokémon was buried in Meteor Falls.
"Has Team Aqua already discovered that what they're looking for is here? Even so, according to the timeline, it will take them some time to find it, and right now, I'm not in a position to stop them. When the problem grows larger, the Hoenn League will take care of it," Cain thought.
"In any case, the brainwashing in Team Aqua and Team Magma is impressive. Even in the face of death, these two still worship Kyogre."
After finishing the interrogations, Cain noticed that Bagon had finished eating.
Although it wasn't completely satisfied, for someone who had been starving for so long, the Pokéblocks it had just eaten were the best thing it had ever tasted. So, it didn't mind eating less.
Mismagius floated beside Bagon, holding the box of Pokéblocks.
Cain smiled. "Let's move forward. There's still much to discover here."
Hearing that they would continue, Bagon tensed.
Cain didn't know what lay ahead, but Bagon did. It was well aware that they were about to encounter more Solrock and Lunatone. It had searched far and wide to find a small cave like its home, away from those Pokémon.
Seeing Bagon's expression, Cain understood its thoughts.
"Don't worry, Bagon. You now have very powerful companions," Cain said with a smile.
Bagon looked at its new companions, especially the fearsome Drapion, and felt more reassured.
Mismagius floated beside it, patting its head and whispering something softly.
It seemed that Mismagius would also take on the role of teaching Bagon the basics. Cain trusted that by taking care of Bagon, Mismagius would also grow further.
After calming Bagon, Cain and his Pokémon continued advancing through the cave.
The Solrock and Lunatone were an invaluable source of experience, and the more they encountered, the better.
It didn't take long for them to come across a group of Solrock—about twenty in total. Cain immediately ordered his Pokémon to engage in battle.
Bagon stayed by Cain's side, eagerly watching his teammates fight. It waved its tiny arms in the air, mimicking being in the battle, with a serious expression on its face, as if avenging its old enemies.
