System's POV-Chapter 989: Welcome To My World [Part 2]
Arthur rode his Flying Serpent, which was a third of the size of the Sky Python.
Zed hovered a few meters away from him, arms crossed over his chest.
The two of them were observing their enemy, and a faint smirk could be seen on both of their faces.
The Old Man and the demihuman Roc had one thing in common.
They liked a good challenge, and they would never think of backing away from fighting strong monsters.
"This Sky Python has just recently become a Rank 9 Sovereign," Zed stated. "As long as you don't drag me down, we'll be able to kill it."
"Hahaha, you punk. Just who do you think you're talking to?" Arthur laughed. "I was fighting long before Zion was born. I can handle a little snake just fine."
The two battle junkies glanced at each other before snorting at the same time.
One was a Pseudo Rank 9 Sovereign, while the latter was a Pseudo-Monarch.
Technically, Zed was stronger.
However, Arthur had the confidence he could take down the Sky Phantom due to the preparations that his no-good grandson had prepared beforehand.
"I'm more worried about that Khan guy and the kids," Arthur stated. "Why did Zion send them to face that Orc Disaster?"
"Maybe you'll get to see a good show if we defeat this Sky Python fast enough," Zed stated. "So, are you ready, Old Man?"
"I was born ready," Arthur said. "Make sure you don't die right away, you hear?"
"Very funny." Zed sneered before taking the lead to attack the Sky Python.
It was said that a Roc who had reached the Rank of a Majin King could travel a thousand miles with a single flap of its wings.
Zed was nowhere near that level, but he was very confident about one thing—his speed.
In just a few seconds, he had traversed half of the distance between him and the Sky Python, who was ordered to attack the Blister and Bombardier Beetles that were raining down hell on the Jinn Armies from on top of the Planar Mountains.
The Garuda Empire was composed of flying beasts.
Sure, they could fly higher than the ranged attacks of the enemies. But when they were in the sky, the Savage Killer Bees, which were two meters in length, would swarm them.
These Bees were the elites of the elites and had the rank of Rank 5 up to Rank 6. While they weren't Sovereigns or Overlords, they were still a force that not everyone could face so easily.
Of course, there had been stronger monsters that had tried to eliminate the Bees.
But whenever they came within its range, Evuvug would use its mind control to take over the consciousness of Rank 7 and Rank 8 Monsters, ordering them to attack their allies.
Although Evuvug could only control up to three Rank 8 Sovereigns at a time, it wasn't alone.
The giant purple snail, Ossan, was also there to assist it, dealing with the Rank 7 Monsters who came within the range of its sight.
But, it didn't end there.
Although still weaker than Evuvug and Ossan, Gwenn was capable of controlling up to five Rank 6 Monsters, which was why the Garuda Alliance repeatedly failed to breach the mountain range from the sky.
These three mind-controlling monsters were simply too dangerous to deal with, forcing the Captains of the Aerial Squadrons to retreat after a few of their Superiors had fallen under the Trinity's control.
In short, they would be damned if they attacked, and they would still be damned if they didn't attack.
They were in a predicament and couldn't break through the stalemate, which forced Prince Zepharion to order two of the five Rank 9 Sovereigns under his command.
The Sky Python unleashed a screech of anger as Zed used his superior speed to unleash hit-and-run attacks, targeting the python's wings.
Arthur, who managed to close the distance, drew his sword as his Flying Serpent fearlessly charged at the monsters that were at least three to four times its size.
While it was annoyed by Zed's pesky attacks, the Sky Python didn't reach its rank by sleeping on the land.
It had fought its way to the top, so it decided to focus its attention on the slower and slightly weaker opponent in front of it.
The Patriarch of the Leventis Family sneered as the sword in his hand glowed in a golden light.
This Mythical Sword Zion had given him had only tasted a few battles since its creation since Arthur didn't want anyone to discover that he possessed a Mythical Weapon.
Just as he was about to head to battle, Zion had whispered something in his ears.
"Gramps, I will allow you to release the seal for ten seconds. So make sure it counts."
This was one of the secrets the old man had kept as his trump card, but he also understood that holding back at this time would only put him in danger.
However, since everyone here was his grandson's allies, he no longer held back and temporarily released himself from the seal that Zion had planted on his body.
Arthur then prepared to unleash the skill that could challenge the Monarchs of the world.
"Split the heavens!" Arthur shouted as he swung his sword toward the Sky Python's massive jaw that was about to swallow him.
"Heaven's Blade!"
The old man had unleashed his full power from the get-go and poured all the strength in his body in a single strike!
The Wanderers, who were supporting the Insectoid Army, suddenly felt a powerful presence, making them all look at the sky in disbelief.
"A monarch!" Sherry's father, Luke, gasped in shock. "Arthur Leventis has broken through and has become a Monarch!"
Everyone watched as a giant golden crescent blade cut through the sky and collided with the Sky Python's head.
A second later, something unexpected happened.
The Rank 9 Sovereign's head was split in half!
That was just the beginning.
That single slash had cut through the Rank 9 Sovereign's body, chopping it into six pieces.
These pieces then fell from the sky and disappeared before they could even touch the ground.
Rocky had decisively stored the Sky Python's remains inside its mobile fortress for future use.
"I-Impossible!" Prince Zepharion looked in horror as one of the Rank 9 Sovereigns of the Garuda Empire died right before his eyes.
There was a popular quote among humans which said…
"Confidence is the feeling you have before you understand the situation."
This was the perfect quote to describe Prince Zepharion's current expression, which had now been distorted due to shame and anger after losing his prized subordinate in his first campaign in the world of Pangea.
