Chapter 985: THE HEIR TO THE THRONE

Cane and Iris settled in the alpha’s bedroom, while the babies were in the luna’s bedroom. Carla remembered this setting when the two of them had their first twins and knew that this was how the alpha and the luna wanted it.

Kaz and Maria had been forbidden from entering the pack house and they could only stare at the entourage along with the other pack member, while Carla, Grilla, Ezra and all the pack member, who lived in the pack house waited for them at the entrance of the house. freeweɓnovel.cѳm

Ezra immediately approached Iris, excited to see the babies, so did Lil Thing, because the lazy bear couldn’t see the little ones during their journey, as the babies stayed inside the carriage all the time.

Cane helped Iris to get down of the carriage, while Hanna and Aliana held each of the babies, which made Ezra and Lil Thing pestered them.

"Welcome back, alpha, luna..." Carla greeted them, she was beaming to see their return. Especially when she saw Ethan, who was having yet another argumentation with Redmond and Lou.

After a long journey, all of them were in extreme need to take a rest, thus the festivity would be held later at night after they were fully rested.

Carla reported a few things to Cane about the pack house and the preparation for their coronation, which would be held in two weeks from now.

It was hasty, but within this time, Carla believed she would be able to pull something decent if they moved quick enough.

Cane had said that the coronation didn’t need too lavish, because it would hurt the people, who were still grieving, instead of that, he wanted it to be more intimate and all the people could enjoy it.

He left the detail to Carla and Grilla, since he had a lot of things to take care of.

"In a few years later, when everything has stabled, I will give you the coronation that you wanted," Cane said to Iris, as he helped her to get undressed.

They were alone in their bedroom and Iris looked exhausted, she couldn’t sleep last night because Zander was being fussy.

"No. I don’t want another coronation. I will love to have this one and it is enough. I don’t want something lavish." Iris turned around and she helped Cane to undress as well. "You know that I don’t really like to be the center of attention."

"What a pity," Cane said, kissing her lips. "You are always be the center of attention."

Iris giggled. She knew the main focus for this coronation was to enforce the strength of the kingdom, to announce that this kingdom didn’t fall after the war and the throne was not vacant. So, those greedy eyes out there, who would love to devour them would think twice before they made a move.

After all, you could only find magic stone in this continent and some of these stones was more expensive than diamond. It could cause unnecessary trouble for them if they didn’t immediately assert their dominance and sensed of control over the kingdom.

Later that night, the festivity was very lively, Lou and Redmond drunk their mind, while Ethan kept pulling a prank on them, Cane didn’t drink much, but he had a discussion with Cezi, Jace and Derick.

"I will get some rest, I will return to our room first." Iris couldn’t drink, because she was breastfeeding, more so she excused herself rather early. "It’s okay, stay here and enjoy the night." Iris stopped Cane when he was about to follow her back to their bedroom.

However, before Iris could reach her bedroom, she saw a figure that she almost forgot.

Laluna.

She had this cold gaze when she walked toward her. At first, Iris wanted to ignore her, but there was no way she could do that when her eyes were dead focus on her.

"Luna Iris, there is something I want to discuss with you, can I have a moment?" Her voice sounded polite, but Iris knew better not to believe their conversation would be civil.

"You can stay here," Iris said to Zephyr and Kian, who attempted to follow her.

The two warriors kept their distance. They were not too close to listen the conversation, but also not too far, just in case they were needed. They still could see the luna and Laluna walked toward the garden.

"What do you want to talk about?" Iris asked straight to the main problem. She wanted to check on her children.

"This is not what you promised me." Laluna was still holding onto her status as the princess, or to be precise the future queen mother of this kingdom.

"What did I promise you?"

Laluna still tried to keep her dignity intact, as she spoke with voice that trembled with anger. "How can you be so shameless to declare yourself as the queen of this kingdom when it is very clear that my son should be the next in line to the throne!?"

Iris raised her brows. She said nothing and let her to finish her monologue.

"My son has been named as the heir for the kingdom! Just because I have lost all of my family and support, you can bully me and my son!" Laluna was also upset because alpha Cane didn’t even come to give her an explanation about the coming coronation. "You and the alpha promised to help Vemion to get to the throne! Don’t you feel ashamed of yourself to snatch the birthright of my baby?"

"Feeling ashamed of myself?" Iris’s expression didn’t change, but there was this callousness in her blue eyes. "Are you done with your nonsense?"

"Are you going back at your words?" Laluna hissed. She couldn’t accept how they started the preparation for the coronation when it was not her son, who would sit on the throne.

And then what? The capital city would be moved here? The south would be the new capital city?

Laluna rambled about the whole thing that she had been holding back ever since she stayed in this pack. She couldn’t have the two main bedrooms and settled at the guest bedroom, no one really paid attention to her and what she and her baby got was only the bare minimum.

"The bare minimum?" Iris was actually smiling with this question. "What actually did you expect during the war?"

"I am the..."

"...Queen Mother because your son was named heir by the previous king?" Iris finished her sentence, she felt oddly familiar with this antic.

Oh, right. The people from the Holy Kingdom used to talk in this manner before. No wonder she felt this familiarity.

"Are you mocking me?" Laluna narrowed her eyes.

"Yes, I am."

Iris’s answer caught Laluna off guard, she didn’t think the luna would be this petty. "My son has the royal blood!"

"Do you think Cane doesn’t have it? Her mother is the true legitimate princess, the next in line for the throne." Iris reminded Laluna, she took a step closer toward her. She was not as tall as her, but somehow Laluna was on guard. She felt intimidated. "Stop this nagging, while I am being nice."
