Garth and her children spent a full week in the police cell along with Claudia and Elisa. Claudia has fallen sick countless times because of how bad and dirty the prison cell was but no one came to her rescue.
She had screamed a few nights, reminding them she was pregnant, and had demanded help, but all she got was beating. Each passing night made her realize how much she resented Harlow and everything about her.
It made her realize how much she wanted Harlow dead from her life. It was two days till the loan shark demanded their money. Claudia knew if she didn’t pay on time, they might send someone to kill her or something.
The last thing she wanted was for her mother to find out about the huge debt she owed.
A loud footstep was heard, and suddenly, a guard appeared right in front of them. He stopped right in front of their cell block and brought out the bundle of keys from his pocket. He tried so many keys and then finally, the lock clicked indicating the prison doors had been open.
"You all are free to go except her." He said. Claudia, Garth, Lia, George, and Elisa stared between themselves as they wondered who the guard had asked to stay behind.
"Come out now." They all hurried out of the cell block, especially Lia who was the first person to step out. She would never spend another night in this block. Her skin was already damaged from all of the insect’s bite.
Never in her life has she gone through such torture.
Elisa was about to step out when the guard blocked her way. "Who says you can leave?" The guard man smiled. "You have the rest of your life to be locked behind these bars." He closed the door with a force that left a loud bang in the hall.
"What do you mean she can’t come out?" Claudia was about to rush back into the cell when Garth held her. There’s no way she’s letting Claudia harm her grandchild.
"What, do you want to go back in there?" The guard asked.
"No, we don’t. Let’s go."
"But mother..." Claudia cried out.
"We can help her now that we’re out. Going back in there will only harm your child." Garth said.
"I will get you out, Mother. You have nothing to fear." Claudia held the bar as she spoke. But Elisa looked dispirited, she had lost all hope and was finally accepting this place as her new home.
"You should go now before the guard man changes his mind. I’ll be fine." Elisa said calmly. She wanted to reach for her daughter, but she held herself. Her only regret was not killing Frank as she had planned initially. If she had done that, taking his property and everything he owned would have been easy.
Claudia left with Garth, George, and Lia in determination to get her mother out of prison and quickly. She would do everything to get Elisa out, but first, she needed to visit the company to get funds to clear off her debt.
She would embezzle funds like always and blame it on Harlow and then she would get her fired and take over. It was simple but complicated.
Right now, she needed to come up with her plans of embezzling funds. Stealing from her father’s company was easy because she was Frank’s daughter, but she had no idea how Hamilton’s Corp worked and how she would do it unnoticed.
She could collect funds in Harlow’s name as usual or better still use other means. But she would need to learn a few things about Hamilton Corp and then also have trusted people too.
When they arrived back home, "I need a long bath." Lia complained and hurried to her own Villa.
"Madam." Jane rushed out to meet her madam. She had been worried all week about Garth’s health and was glad to finally see the woman back.
"Master Alanis is so evil to leave you in that prison cell for a week. I’m pretty sure it’s that stupid Harlow’s doing" Jane started.
"Be careful how you speak Jane."
"You have nothing to worry madam, Harlow and Master Alanis don’t live here anymore." Garth paused in her steps.
"What?" Garth asked.
"According to what I heard, they took Grandma Charlotte with them. I don’t think they’re coming back again." Garth frowned at Jane’s words. How dare Alanis move out without informing them first?
He has given Harlow way too much, he has given that girl all of his inheritance. If Harlow keeps getting everything, what would be left for her son and daughter?
After freshening up, the remaining Hamilton family all gathered at Garth’s Villa for dinner except Claudia who was still hurt her mother was left behind and was also scared about the loan shark money.
Garth was ready to break the news of Alanis and Harlow’s moving out to them and devise a plan to get back at Harlow. But not seeing Claudia at the table made her worried.
"Where’s your wife George?" She asked.
"In the bedroom. She said she was not hungry and wanted to be alone." George said picking a pea with his fork. From the balcony, they could see the view of everything in the estate, including Alanis’s now quiet mansion.
"It’s alright, I’ll go get her food later." Lia smiled.
"The yard is surprisingly quiet today, it’s almost as if no one’s living here," George remarked looking around, mostly at his brother’s Villa.
"That’s because no one is actually around," Garth said biting her steak, it’s the first time she’s had real food. Heaven knows how sick she was of the prison food they ate.
"What does that mean?" Lia asked.
"It means your brother and his wife moved out with your grandmother," Garth said.
"That Harlow has manipulated your brother George. She’s taken everything your father owned from you. She has her father’s wealth and then your father’s wealth too." Garth started.
The earlier they all kick Harlow out of their family, the better it would be for everyone.
