She had read about this before. She had even dreamed about it and included it in her silly fantasies. But never, not once, had she thought Alanis would actually do this.

"I’ll take that as a yes," Alanis murmured.

Without waiting for her response, he reached into the basket, pulled out another bottle of wine, and popped it open. He poured the deep red liquid into the glass, took a mouthful, and before Harlow could stop him, he leaned down once more.

This time, she knew what was coming.

The moment his lips touched hers, another wave of wine poured into her mouth. But as her senses spun, all she could focus on was the softness of his lips, the warmth of his breath, and the way he licked every last drop from the corners of her mouth.

She swallowed, her throat working quickly to take in the wine. But surprisingly, it tasted sweeter than usual.

"Do you want more?" Alanis asked again. "Are you still thirsty?"

Harlow hiccuped and sat up.

"Should I take that as a yes?"

Another hiccup sounded again and she quickly shook her head, her face turning bright red.

Alanis chuckled. "Alright."

He watched her with amusement, eyes twinkling with something warm and unreadable.

Even if his cute villain would never admit to falling for him again, it was clear as day, she already had.

Harlow sat silently on the picnic mat trying to recover from whatever just happened between herself and Alanis. Her heart still hammered hard against her chest, every pulse in her body quickening as her body turned so aware of him.

If anyone had told her this man would have so much power over her with just a mere kiss, she would never have believed it. She couldn’t believe she had fallen in love with this monster again.

"You lied." Harlow suddenly said turning to face him. He lied about the last wine thing and only brought one glass so that he could take advantage of her.

If she had known there was an extra bottle of wine she would never have engaged in any fight with him.

"I didn’t lie about the one glass thing." Harlow almost scoffed at his multiple lies. She has had enough of him, enough of everything. If she was given another chance, she would never think twice about killing him.

She should have never kept him alive. She had spared him to punish him and make him pay, but it seems like she’s the one being punished.

"I’m sorry for lying villain. I only lied to fulfill your fantasies. If I didn’t lie, how would you experience what..."

"That’s enough." She stopped him before he could continue, her face was already burning with embarrassment.

"You have nothing to be shy of sweetheart. Come let’s watch the view from here." Alanis set his pillow before resting his head on it. Both arms crossed at the back of his head as he lay down.

Harlow looked around wondering where her pillow was. This wasn’t happening again, Has he hidden the other Pillow? She was so sure she had carried two.

"Where is my Pillow?" She asked.

"What’s the use of having two pillows when you have me?" It took Harlow two seconds to understand what he meant.

She watched Alanis tap his chest lightly, and she laid down on him. Both people stared at the tall trees dancing to the tune of the wind silently. But as they lay there, Harlow could hear Alanis’s steady heartbeat.

Unlike hers, his heartbeat was calm, almost like he was dead, but so often it beat to indicate he was still very much alive.

After spending hours in the fields both people returned to their cabin.

While Harlow enjoyed her vacation with Alanis, trouble was brewing back at the company.

Claudia had finally forced her way in, with the help of George Lia, and Garth. None of them knew why she was so desperate to work at the company, but they didn’t care. As long as it meant pushing Harlow out, they were willing to do whatever it took.

If Claudia was as smart as she claimed, then taking the company back from Harlow and Alanis should be easy. Or so they thought. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

But what they didn’t know was that Claudia wasn’t here just for that. In fact, she knows she couldn’t handle the company alone. But she was desperate.

The loan sharks had given her just one day to pay up. If she didn’t, they would come for her, and she knew exactly what that meant. She needed money, any amount to start with. Maybe a little deposit now, then as the company grew under her control, she could slowly pay off the capital.

Her plan was set.

Gus and the other employees had welcomed her warmly, and she took full advantage of it. Gus had even given her the position she wanted, claiming that Harlow had personally allowed it. Of course she did, she had even told Gus what department her sister loved the most.

With Harlow’s backing, no one would question Claudia in the company. After all, she was a Hamilton too. She is George Hamilton’s wife even if they hadn’t made their marriage known due to the ups and downs in the society.

But a few of the employees didn’t hide their displeasure, especially with the recent news about both Claudia and her mother.

They had no idea why Harlow would let a thief work in their company.

Claudia didn’t care about their gossip, she would never minor gossips distract her from the reason she was here.

Then came the opportunity she had been waiting for.

A large sum of money had to be transferred to the company’s account. It was huge, the perfect chance to steal.

Claudia smirked to herself. This would be easy. She would fake a receipt, just like she had done in the past, claiming she had already sent the money. And if anyone noticed something was off? She could simply blame the other girl working with her.

Either way, Harlow would take the fall.

People would call her careless for leaving the company at such a crucial time. Investors would lose trust in her. Harlow would slowly lose everyone’s trust and then, only then can she take charge of the company.

Claudia smiled to herself as she executed her plan. With just a few clicks, she diverted the funds to her personal account. It was done. Now, all she had to do was print a fake invoice and convince everyone it was legitimate.

She had just started preparing the fake document when the office door swung open.

Gus walked in, followed by a few other employees.

"Mrs. Claudia," he called.

Her fingers twitched on the mouse, but she forced a calm smile. "Yes?"

"A customer just confirmed their payment, but we haven’t received any proof of it in our records," Gus said. "Have you seen it?"

Claudia’s heart pounded, but she kept her face neutral.

"I... I have," she said, quickly grabbing the fake receipt she had just created. She held it up. "Here’s the proof of payment."

She had no idea why Gus was even questioning her.

No one in this organization has the right to question her.
