The drive back home was rather silent as everyone was lost in their thoughts. Claudia still hasn’t figured out a way of paying the debt she owes and she couldn’t tell Garth about it either. The elderly woman would only complain rather than find a solution.

But what if they wouldn’t be angry if they found out the real reason behind her trying to steal from the company? She didn’t mean to make them go bankrupt, but this was a matter of life and death.

When they got back home, they all stepped out of the car one after another. Claudia was thinking of another means of getting money but she had none.

She wondered if she could borrow money from another loan shark, but how would she pay it back? That would be adding more problems to herself. Her body shook with fear, she had only a few hours before they came knocking at her door.

"How could you do that Claudia? How dare you humiliate us like you did?" Garth didn’t seem like she was going to let everything just slide.

Claudia had humiliated them today, she had turned them into fools and liars. Ruined their reputations in Hamilton’s Corp.

"If you needed money why didn’t you just ask, why did you try to steal money from us? After everything we’ve done for you?" Garth barked.

10 million would be understandable, 20, 30 even 50 would have been slightly ignored. But 300?

What the hell did she want to use that for?

"I’m sorry mother." Claudia started, her voice low and pitiful. "I had no idea things would escalate like it did." She said.

"Escalate?" Garth asked. "You almost turned us bankrupt today and you’re talking about escalating?" Garth asked. So if Claudia had not been caught, they would have gone bankrupt after everything they have done for her.

"I did it for my mother okay? She’s in prison and I want to get her out." Claudia lied again, she couldn’t tell them the real reason. She’ll have to figure things out herself.

"Your mother? You want us to go broke for a woman who is in prison for fraud?" Everywhere turned silent at Garth’s words.

"How dare you?" Claudia yelled. "How dare you say that about my mother?" She yelled again.

"What have I said that is wrong?" Garth asked. "I guess the saying a true, an apple does not fall too far from its tree. Like mother, like daughter."

"But let me warn you Claudia, you better watch yourself. Don’t you dare try to steal from me, else I’ll take you back to the slums you belong to." Garth said.

"If you think I do not know who your real father is then you must think I am a fool. He’s a nobody. Such a shame you had to live Harlow’s life all your life. That girl is my true daughter-in-law. You and your mother are useless."

Garth continued. "The only talent you have is stealing which you two are bad at." Tears rolled from Claudia’s eyes at her mother-in-law’s words. She had thought Garth would change after having killed her in the past because she felt like she wasn’t good for Alanis either, and they had no money anymore, but she had been wrong.

Garth would never change and for this insult, it was time she took revenge for her death. She will make Garth pay for killing her in the past.

"Mother, that’s too much." Lia held her mother’s hands.

"Shut up!" Garth yelled at the girl.

"She almost made us bankrupt today and you’re telling me I’m being too much? How much has she contributed to the family?" Garth asked.

"That’s not true. Have you forgotten how my mother helped you and your family when you made them bankrupt because of your selfishness?" Claudia asked. If not anything, she remembers the gift Elisa had sent to Garth occasionally because of Claudia.

But today, this insolent woman stands here to insult her mother. She will make Garth Hamilton eat her words.

"What gifts, those cheap gifts she gave me. At this point, I can’t even tell if she stole them or not." Garth said nonchalantly only to see her daughter-in-law walking away.

"You belong in that prison with your fraudster of a mother. I should have never bailed you. Thief." She said.

Lia tried to follow Claudia but, "You better stay here before I kick you out." She stood still with a deep frown on her face. She had her own troubles too.

If Claudia had told her she wanted to steal such an amount, she would have helped her and they could share a part of the money. Lia needed a huge amount too, but she didn’t know how to get it, especially since her allowance in a month is nothing much.

She followed her mother into their Villa but kept glancing at Claudia’s back as she walked away. She would need to sneak out and speak to Claudia.

When morning came, as early as 6:am, Claudia stepped out of the Hamilton’s estate. Today was the day and she had prepared her mind for it. She could care less what the loan sharks would do to her, but before she dies, she is ready to destroy Garth too.

She will make sure Garth stuffers as much as she had made her in the past. frёeωebɳovel.com

After waiting outside the police station for hours just to see her mother, Claudia was finally granted the opportunity to see her.

"Go in, you have five minutes to see her." The police officer grunted.

Claudia picked up her bag and walked into the visitation room. She sat on the waiting chair and after a few minutes, Elisa was escorted out with the handcuff still in her hands.

She was both happy and sad to see her daughter. Seeing Claudia again made her realize how badly she wanted to leave this place.

"Did you bring any good news, if you didn’t, I don’t want to talk to you." Came her blunt words.
