"Why are you not responding to me, Claudia? I’m talking to you." Lia poked her sister in laws shoulder who still refused to respond to her. Ever since she was scolded by Garth, Claudia has been acting differently.

Lia could understand her anger, but she didn’t say anything bad. Garth was the only one to insult her, so why was she paying for it?

Claudia read all of the life-threatening messages the loan sharks sent to her. If she was in the right state of mind, maybe she would have said a thing or two.

Maybe she would have found a way to help Lia since she had put her through this trouble. But Claudia was selfish. She already saw herself as dead and wanted them all to die with her.

"I have been the one by your side all through this time. Even while mother scolded you, I stood by you. How dare you do this to me?" Lia was desperate and frustrated. She had no idea what to do.

She might kill herself if her nudes get leaked. It would be more than shameful if everyone in Halkhalls saw her nudes. She would disappoint her mother, George, Charlotte, and even Alanis. Lia didn’t want that.

The nude videos were nasty, she had done things. Things she didn’t want anyone else to see.

If people saw it, they would see her as a slut. They would all label her a whore even if she’s only the victim here.

Lia had just one week to send the money to Mike, otherwise, he would post all of her videos.

"So?" Claudia asked coldly.

"I never asked you to steal from the company. Don’t take your anger out on me Claudia." Lia yelled. "Please I’m begging you, Claudia, you’re the only one that can talk Mike out of it."

Claudia stared at Lia nonchalantly, "Who’s Mike?" She asked to see tears rolling from Lia’s eyes.

"I’ll never forgive you Claudia if he releases it." Lia cried out. Her cell phone rang immediately.

"No is not the time George," Lia said almost unable to hide her cry. She didn’t know who else to meet, she couldn’t tell George or her mother about it either. They’ll kill her if they find out.

Their family was already going through so much with Claudia and Elisa’s situation. They have received countless backlash from the general public. It’s been barely one week since they left the prison cells, yet a lot was already happening.

Is there no day for a break?

"How is Claudia?" George asked.

"I told you now is not the time for this George," Lia said.

"Give her the phone Lia it’s urgent." George sounded desperate.

"What is it, George?" Lia asked wondering what he wanted to speak to Claudia about. She didn’t want to talk to her sister-in-law at the moment because she had refused to help her.

"This is serious Lia. The cops just took mother away this morning and I think it has something to do with Claudia. Ask that bitch what she told her mother when she visited yesterday and why she would do this to mother?" Lia was confused.

Why would the cops arrest her mother and why was Claudia being accused of it? Is there something she’s missing?

"W... What are you talking about?" George hung up immediately.

Lia typed a few words on her screen and found the news online.

’Garth Hamilton detained and accused of attempted murder by Frank Blackwood after a confession from Elisa Griffith from the prison cell.’

"No, it’s not true." Lia shook her head. She couldn’t believe it. She thought it was all a prank till she saw Garth’s mug shot being displayed on the internet.

It says the police had arrived at their estate too early to arrest her after Elisa reported. The accusations laid against Garth were too strong and the police had decided to investigate it.

Lia wanted to go crazy. Her mother couldn’t have tried to kill Frank, she had no business with the man.

Elisa had strong evidence against Garth, evidence that could put her in prison for life. Elisa knew she wouldn’t escape too, but she’s already sentenced to spend 25 years in here, adding extra years would mean nothing. But she was certain Garth would be sentenced to life imprisonment. She would make sure of that.

Garth had broken her promise about taking care of her daughter even when she knew Elisa had so many ways to destroy her.

"What did you do Claudia?" Lia turned to Claudia her anger palpable. She has always seen Claudia like a sister, never in her life did she believe this bitch would betray them like this.

"What have I done?" Claudia asked coldly.

"You did this to Mother didn’t you?" You made your mother put her in jail!" Lia yelled at her. All she wanted to do was strangle Claudia to death, but she was pregnant with George’s child.

"Your mother has been accused of attempted murder and you sit here and blame me?" Claudia asked. She had all of those big mouths for me yet is the biggest sinner." Claudia laughed.

"I know you did this. You can pretend all you want but I know this is your doing."

"What have you done Claudia?" George barged in immediately. With heavy strides he walked towards Claudia and grabbed her neck, his fingers wrapping around tightly as he slammed her against the wall.

Claudia gripped his hands struggling to free herself, but she couldn’t. She has never seen George this aggressive before.

"How dare you ruin my family after everything we did for you, Claudia?" He asked through gritted teeth.

"What would you do about it, George?" Her voice was barely audible as she struggled to breathe and speak at once. Tears rolled down her eyes but she endured.

So be it if she dies at George’s hands today. She’s as good as dead anyway.

"We’re even now, aren’t we? We have two imperfect mothers. At least my mother did not murder anyone." George’s grip tightened.

"George please don’t harm her, don’t forget she’s pregnant." Lia rushed to her brother’s side as she tried to separate them. She hated Claudia at the moment but she would not let anything happen to her nephew.

"I want you out of our lives once that child is born." George spat and let her go. Claudia coughed out so loud like her throat was about to cough.

"I can’t believe you would do this Claudia," Lia said and followed her brother out, leaving the girl on the floor who coughed like she was about to die.
