Chapter 103: 102. Welcome Home (3)

"Why don’t you tell that you also basically announced to the whole world that a Dragon had descended?" Silas spoke up as he appeared in the waiting room.

Eric’s and Elise’s eyes went wide as they heard that and Silas sighed.

"I recall forbidding you from coming here using a teleportation spell, Silas." Grandfather spoke up.

"I was running late and he has some explaining to do so, I had to come myself."

"I was going to go to my mansion after handing them the souvenirs, Archmage." I said and Silas crossed his arms at his chest.

"Will you mind explaining why you exposed yourself at Mordino?"

"I didn’t exactly expose myself," I said.

"The Tyrant’s defeat should be a spectacle that’s why I did that."

"... Just for the spectacle."

"It was a part of the plan, Archmage." I sighed before I picked up the teacup from the table.

"Plan... Then bringing back two men from Mordino also a part of your plan?" He asked.

"You brought two men?" Grandfather asked.

"One man, one kid. The man is for handling the affairs of my organisation and I’ll look something for the kid."

"You keep picking up strays." Silas sighed.

"Ocean is a responsible and prudent person unlike others." Grandfather commented making Silas glare at him.

"Actually it’s a good thing that you came here, I would like to discuss this one thing with you and I could use Marquis’s input as well."

Grandfather agreed while Silas though he looked a little sour agreed as well.

"So, what is it?"

"I’d like to have a private discussion." I said as I stood up.

"It’s a shame that we couldn’t sit and talk leisurely, Baron Ocean." Lady Elise spoke and I smiled as I walked up to her and sat on my knee near her taking her hand in mine.

"I have work pending so, I couldn’t talk with you as leisurely, My Lady. But I will surely make time to visit you again." I gently placed a kiss on her knuckles before I stood up and then looked at Eric.

"I hope to see the results of your hard work soon, Your Highness. From His Excellency’s letter I was being updated about your outstanding performance and I’m really happy to know that you’re dedicated towards your goal. I hope we get to talk again soon."

"All right." Eric replied before he and Lady Elise along with Collins left the waiting room.

Silas casted the soundproof spell around the room as we sat in a circle and I pulled out the piece of paper which had the design of the device I had seen being used by Salem.

"What’s this?" Grandfather asked.

"It’s a device that sucks the aura and mana from one person and transfers it into another." I answered.

"What?!" Silas frowned before leaning close to look at the design.

"These inscriptions are responsible for that," I said pointing at the script that I had noted down.

Thanks to my gift of linguistics I was able to read and write these letters.

"What do these letters mean?" Silas asked.

"Is this an ancient script?" Grandfather wondered aloud.

"These four pillars have the spell and these words mean Life, Gift, Death and Transmit. Each pillar signifies one word." I explained.

"I have never heard of such a device." Silas mumbled.

"Nor have I." Grandfather added.

"That’s why it’s dangerous. The Tyrant of Mordino was using this device to suck away the aura of Grand Duke Alarice when I reached there."

The two looked at me with grim expressions before Silas pulled the paper to himself and had a careful look at the design.

"I will require some time to study this."

"There’s more." I spoke making him look at me.

I pulled out the red stone and a small vial which had the black fluid.

"What is this?" Silas asked.

"This stone was extracted from a man who acted berserk with no emotions except for the anomalistic agression and violence. And this vial, I found it in the same place as this device."

I had found this vial by coincidence when I was avoiding Salem’s hits, I had slipped it since it seemed like everything in that place would require some research.

"There might be some more things there which could be just as strange." I added.

Silas picked up the red stone and the vial having a good look at them.

"This seems like a mana stone but, I will have to check." He kept the things with himself before he looked at me.

"Are these my gifts?" He asked looking slightly displeased.

"No, your gift is this." I said as I pulled out a box which had a gold bracelet studded with clear sapphires and Silas looked at me before he picked it out and placed it on his wrist.

"Thanks."

"Also," I spoke up making him look at me.

"I found someone there who has a potential of becoming a master mage." I said and Silas’s eyes grew focused.

"A master?"

"Yes, her mana capacity was quite good and her affinity is also rare."

"What is it?"

"Earth." Silas’s eyebrows jumped.

"Did you bring her along or will she be coming here?" He asked and I smiled.

"The thing is, someone from the Tower will have to go to Mordino to teach her."

"What? Why can’t she come to the Tower?" Silas frowned.

"Because she’s the soon-to-be Queen of Mordino." I answered making him stare at me while Grandfather burst out laughing.

"The future Queen of Mordino?" Silas asked and I nodded.

"How on earth..." He looked as if he was done with me.

"Also, I’m planning to establish a teleportation gate that would connect Mordino with Sestia."

"Wait, wait. Don’t go on deciding such stuff on your own, Reina." Silas spoke up.

"You know after the war and the issue about the Frosthail there’s a tension going on in the royal palace. There are a lot of variables to be looked after here, it’s impossible to do it right away."

"It’s possible." I announced making him stare at me.

"We just need to manipulate the King and he will do it."

"Manipulate him? How?"

"Mordino’s Revolutionary Army was greatly helped by the Sestian army in their war of revolution. So, the King just needs to assume that Mordino would side with them for the ongoing war with Denril. But for that some input from the King’s side was necessary and, what would be the best way to do so if not trade or something help to rebuild their kingdom?"

Silas stared at me as I explained it and Grandfather spoke up, "I like your idea. Would you like me to bring it up before the King?"

"No, it should come from someone who isn’t on the King’s radar and someone who seems harmless."

"Is there any person like that?"

"Yes, I have one person in mind."

Silas sighed, "Don’t worry, it’s a win-win for both of us. You just have to form a team of your Mages to go to Mordino and while there they could also research if they found more stuff like these things," I pointed at the things that Silas had kept with himself.

"And also instruct the Princess while building the Teleportation Gate."

Silas pondered over it for a long moment while I picked up the cookies from the tray and started eating.

"What would you like for me to do?" Grandfather asked me.

"Nothing, the King’s primary focus for now must be the war with Denril and the issue about Frosthail so, nor he, neither the Golden Serpent would pay attention to Eric for a while."

"When will you propose the idea of this teleportation gate to the King?" Silas asked after having his thoughts sorted.

"At the banquet which is arranged to welcome the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess or sooner."

"And how will you do that?" He asked.

"That’s my problem." I spoke making him sigh.

"You have a lot on your plate for now, Uncle. I hope you will continue working hard." Silas gave me a look and Grandfather chuckled.

After having a good discussion with them about the future possibilities, I left for Ryujin mansion which was closer to the Fairisles mansion.

I spotted the decent sized mansion nestled in the arms of the woods, guarded by the assassins before I turned the invisibility spell and landed in front of the mansion in the entryway. The flapping cloak from my back rested at my back and I removed the mask that I put on before leaving the Fairisles mansion.

The doors of the mansion opened as I walked over and as soon as I stepped inside I saw the servants of the house gathered on both sides standing in a perfect line with their heads bowed.

"Welcome home, Master!" Their welcome resounded in unison.

Lyall stood near the stairway dressed in a black suit as he took his position as the Butler of the mansion and my personal attendant.

One of the servants took my cloak off and I walked towards Lyall.

"You’re already at work, didn’t I tell you to take two days off?"

"I have rested plenty, Master." He said and I looked at the servants.

All of these were either assassins or their families.

I then turned to Lyall and asked, "Where’s Remi and Roan?"

"Master Ocean?" I heard Remi’s voice and saw him standing at the top of the stairs dressed in a white shirt and black pants.

"Mr Roan is apparently in his room." Lyall answered and I nodded.

"I’ll be in the study." I announced before I went up at stairs and smiled at Remi gesturing him to come along.

He fell into a step behind me with his face glowing and eyes filled with the innocence and curiosity of his age.

"Do you like your new room?" I asked and he smiled.

"Yes! I never dreamt of living in such a luxurious palace."

I chuckled, "Rest and roam around for a week and then you will start training with the other people here."

"Other people?"

"Everyone in this house has gone through the basic self-defense training and most of them are professional assassins."

Remi’s feet halted as his face grew pale and I chuckled.

"Th-They all are... assassins?"

"Not all."

"Even Mrs Jones?" She was the lady in her late forties who worked as the headmaid but despite her age, she was a veteran assassin.

"She’s one."

"What about Mr Norman?" The young man who worked as a stable keeper.

"He’s one too."

"Miss Lizzy and Miss Kate?" He asked.

Lizzy was Lyall’s wife and Kate was their little daughter.

"They’re normal," I said and then added, "but I guess Kate is training to become a full-fledged assassin."

Remi seemed like he was about to faint but I simply turned and continued walking.

"Get used to it, Remi."
