Chapter 104: 103. Welcome Home (4)

There was a huge amount of pending paper work that needed my attention, I started working on it in the afternoon and just as I was done with a fractional amount of work I heard the knock on the door.

"Come in." I called.

The door opened and Mrs Enora Jones entered my study with a tray of food.

"It’s lunch time, Master. Please eat something." She said and I hummed.

"Also, Mr Roan said he would like to talk to you." She added.

"Call him in." I spoke.

"Yes, Master."

Apart from Lyall if there was anyone who was as skilled then it was her. Enora was in her late forties who dressed in a similar outfit as a Butler with the white shirt, black vest and black pants.

She was lean and tall with a few gray hair peeking from her shoulder length jet black hair, her eyes were sharp grey and she was quite an observant woman who knew how to take care of her work cleanly.

Roan walked inside and Enora started placing the food on the table.

"I heard from the servants that you don’t visit often." Roan said as he took a seat on the sofa.

"I don’t, that’s why I have a lot of work pending."

"Won’t you eat?" He asked and I sighed placing down the feather pen and walked over to the sofa and plopped down looking at the feast.

Enora stood silently near the door with her hands at her back.

"Will I stay here from now on?" Roan asked and I nodded as I started eating.

"Take a few days off, after that, you will have to start working."

"What exactly will be my work?" He asked and I looked at Enora.

"Get me the documents that are in the second drawer on the right." I said and she moved before bringing the documents from the said location and handed it to me.

"This is your work." I said giving the bundle of documents to Roan. He took the papers and started looking through them.

"You will be given Sestian citizenship and a new identity before you officially start work." I instructed as I continued eating.

My appetite seemed to have increased ever since the synchronisation with the Dragon’s bloodline had increased.

"Bring me some more food, Enora." I spoke and she nodded before she left the room.

"Is this your plan?" Roan asked.

"It’ll grow large scale and you will have to do some multitasking so, I suggest you start selecting reliable people to make your apprentices as you will be taking care of most of my pending work as my Aide and also look after this organisation."

"What?!" Roan squeaked.

I hummed as I ate the second serving asking for third.

"You brought me here to make me your slave?" Roan growled glaring daggers at me.

"I’ll pay you accordingly."

"Are you trying to kill me with this much work?!" He shouted and I drank a little water.

"That’s why I told you to choose some reliable people to teach. This organisation," I pointed at the papers in his hands.

"Has just formed it’ll grow more in future and you have to be an important pillar to carry it."

Roan sighed running his hand though his red hair before he picked up the tea served for him.

"How many people can I have under me?"

"Any number is fine but you will have to supervise them carefully. If anyone of them tries to betray us they will be dealt with without any mercy."

"Are you trying to threaten me as well?"

"No, I’m just warning you in advance. What I did in Mordino is one thing but more will come in future. Your task is administrative so, you won’t be with the fighting team so, you can safely work here."

"I’d rather fight."

"You will have to when time comes, also, next week your training will start with the other members." I said making him frown.

"What kind of training?"

Enora returned with the serving and placed it down on the table.

"Self-defense and basic offense. It’s for your own safety, everyone here learns it when they officially start their job. Enora takes care of training everyone along with Dylan,"

Roan looked up at Enora who gave him a smile.

Dylan was the cook.

"She’ll also be the one to show you how work is done here." I added.

"I-I see..." Roan mumbled and then looked at Enora.

"Pardon his attitude for some time, Enora. This kid has grown among the desert bandits so he’s a little fiesty." I told her.

"Oi, what?!" fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

"I’ll take care of him, Master please don’t worry."

"B-But wait, aren’t I only supposed to look after the administrative tasks then why..."

"Everyone here works two jobs at once," Enora said, "we all stay at this house as well as protect the town that Master has established. Though our job here is fixed but whenever the problem arises it’s up to us to make sure it’s sorted so that it doesn’t reach our Master."

"Now, now, Enora. You make me sound like a bad boss."

Enora chuckled, "How can I ever do that, Master! You’re the best employer."

Roan left and took the papers with him saying he wanted to read them properly and after finishing my lunch I went back to my work.

The six months of paper work was pending so, it was obvious that I couldn’t complete it so soon. I finished some portion and then teleported back home as I was too tired to fly.

Despite eating three servings of a feast I ended up eating the same amount of food at home which made Father and Rune get concerned.

"Reina, you will get an upset stomach if you eat that much?" Rune said.

"It’s fine when you eat as much as you like but..." Father added.

"I-I’ll be fine, I ate less in lunch." I lied.

I returned to my room and fell in my bed after the dinner and stared up at the ceiling.

[*** Of *** says it’s normal for Dragons to have a huge appetite.]

[Goddess of Wisdom adds that your appetite will grow even more.]

This unknown patron had kept in touch despite me taking months to reply to their offer.

"Hey, what perks will I get if I accept your Patronage?" I asked.

[*** Of *** says you will be able to know once you accept.]

"It sounds like one of those marketing strategies to phish the poor victims."

[Goddess of Wisdom fell off her chair while laughing.]

[Defender of Divine Glory coughs to hide his laughter.]

[*** Of *** says they are not allowed to disclose any information unless you accept their Patronage and even if they try to tell you anything you won’t be able to comprehend.]

"Try it." I prompted.

[*** Of *** says that *** is the *** of *** and you will be able to use the abilities like *** and ***.]

"It looks so much like the part where the cuss words are censored for the kids."

[Goddess of Wisdom bursts out laughing.]

[Defender of Divine Glory sighs and explains that until you accept the Patronage you won’t be able to read anything that is related to *** Of ***.]

"What do you think? Should I accept this patronage?"

[Goddess of Wisdom says it’s your decision.]

[Defender of Divine Glory says they don’t want to influence your judgement.]

I hummed as I thought about it and decided to just take a leap of faith.

I clicked on the request of the Patronage.

[Would you like to accept the Patronage of *** Of ***?

- Yes.

- No.]

"Yes." I mumbled.

[Congratulations, you have a new Patron.]

"The name of the patron is... Giver of Gifts?"

"Santa Claus?" I wondered and the notifications of my both old patrons laughing appeared.

[Giver of Gifts calls you an amusing person and that she would like to treat you to tea and cakes again.]

"Tea and cakes?" I wondered aloud and then recalled the time when my heart had stopped after overusing my mana in Mordino and I had woken up in a garden.

"Ah... So, you were the one who saved me back then." I mumbled as I closed my eyes starting to feel drowsy.

[Giver of Gifts is happy that you recognised her.]

[Goddess of Wisdom is jealous that Giver of Gifts got to spend some time with you.]

"Heh? We can have a short picnic together, if you want."

[Goddess of Wisdom appreciates your thought.]

[Defender of Divine Glory watches tenderly.]

[Giver of Gifts...

I didn’t read ahead as I ended up doing off.

The next day after breakfast I went to Oasis as I had to check up on the kids whom I’d picked from Izkar were now settled here.

They were given a special residence in the forest and at a little distance from the town. Regardless, I had to check up.

I walked down the streets watching the people around and the shops which seemed to have improved now. Lyall had accompanied along with Remi and Roan who came along saying they would like a tour.

Lyall was giving them a briefing of the place and Roan and Remi seemed like they were considering escaping.

"Wait, so you mean to say that everyone here is either a criminal or homeless?" Roan squeaked.

"I prefer calling them those who seek redemption, Roan. You were a priest have some empathy." I spoke as I walked in the front.

I entered a few shops and greeted the ones managing the place. I went to the bakery at the end since I had to pick stuff from there.

"Hello?" I called looking at the three girls inside who were managing the place.

"Master!" All three of them jumped on me.

"Why is this guy so handsome?" I heard Roan grumbling and I looked at him with a smug smirk making him glare at me.

"It’s been so long, that you came here Master!" Gina whined, she was the youngest daughter of the owner of this bakery with deep purple hair and same colored eyes aging 19.

"Didn’t you miss us?" Viny pouted, she was the identical twin of Gina with only her eyes being brown instead of purple.

"We kept waiting for you, Master!" Sally, the oldest girl aging 21 with black hair and green eyes griped as he hugged my arm.

"Now, now, will you stop crushing me already?"

"Oh, you fetched new recruits." Gina said looking at Remi and Roan.

"What a cutie!" Viny said before she reached out and pinched Remi’s cheek making his ears and cheeks go red.

"Even you!" Roan gasped looking at Remi.

"Oh, my! Mr Lyall is here too and who’s this?" Sally said as she looked at the rest two guys.

"Ah, I’m-" Roan who finally had time to introduce himself was cut off by a loud, masculine voice followed by the huge man who came outside.

"Girls, how many times have I told you not to-" he stopped short as he saw me and I smiled.

"Hello, Randall." I smiled and the large man who was the ex-bandit and one of the most ferocious wanted men.

"It’s... been months, Master." He spoke making me recall the day when I had found him while I was off to visit the Mage’s Tower.
