The Kingmaker System-Chapter 125 - 124. Making New Friends (3)
Chapter 125: 124. Making New Friends (3)
I watched as the two older kids Eric and Rune slowly started to settle down around the other kids while sipped my tea.
"I didn’t expect you to bring two noble kids here, Master." Kent said as he sat beside me with the same pose watching the kids.
"One of them is the Prince of this kingdom."
"Hm..." He hummed and then jerked up looking at me.
"What?!"
I looked at me with a smile, "I want that kid to make friends and learn about other races that’s why I’ve brought him here."
"B-B-But a Prince of all the people... Wait, Eric... Is he the First Prince that is said to be the unfortunate shadow prince of the kingdom?"
I hummed and Kent slumped over letting out and awkward laughter.
"I-I guess I can see who’s going to be our future King." He said as he looked at Eric.
"Master reads us story books!" One of the kids said and Eric and Rune flinched.
"What?"
"Yes, Master has given us our names too!"
"Your names?"
"Yes, Master trains with us too!"
"He trains with you?" Rune looked at me.
"Well, he trains with me too," Eric said, "and I’m the first person who had made Master pick a weapon to fight."
"Master fought you with a weapon?"
"He did...?"
"I bet you still lost!" Cyrus said and the kids laughed.
"It’s a miracle that you’re alive if Master picked up a weapon!" Rowan said.
"What kind of weapon did Master use?" Sylvia asked.
"A sword."
"Oh!"
The kids looked at him with wide, glowing eyes.
"Sh-He used a real sword against you, Your- ack-" Rune grunted and I saw Eric looking at him after nudging his elbow a bit too hard in Rune’s ribs.
"Address me as Eric, please and also... Sorry for that."
"Ah... All right. But... did Master Ocean really use a real sword against you?" Rune asked.
"Um... No. He... used a... wooden sword."
"Lucky you!"
"It’s a shame, Master said as long as we don’t level up with our magic he won’t fight us."
The elves and dwarves pouted looking at me and I smiled.
"That’s basically the reason why I have brought these two here." I said pointing at Eric and Rune.
"These two big brothers will train with you so, show them what you got and also learn from them. Do you understand?" I said making Eric and Rune flinch.
"Wait, we have to fight these kids?" Eric gasped.
"Don’t go on their ages or looks," I said with a smirk.
"They’re the assassins-in-training trained here by the best trainers, you should also learn a few things here and not make me worry. That’s the reason why I brought you here."
"So, can we fight now?!"
"I want to fight this big brother," Liam said as he tugged at Eric’s arm, "His mana seems really strong and firy!"
"I want to fight this big brother though," Sylvia held Rune’s hand, "his mana seems to have similar element as Master’s."
"Eh? Don’t call dibs!"
"Yes, I want to fight him too!"
"I want to fight him!"
The kids were suddenly arguing and Eric and Rune were caught up in a tug of a war.
"Why don’t you all decide an order to have a spar? These two will be here from now on everyday for training so, you all can have your turns." I announced making the older kids stare at me while the younger ones to jump in glee.
"Yay! So, who’ll go first?"
"Let’s play that game that Master taught us to decide!"
Eric and Rune slowly made their way out of the kids’ gathering and walked up to me.
"Y-You didn’t tell me that I have to be here everyday." Eric said and I smiled.
"I heard from your trainers that you were trying hard on your own everyday even after the end of the training," his eyes averted from mine.
"These kids are adept in using mana and with combat. I have seen your mana growing so, training with these kids is the best possible training for you from henceforth."
"If you don’t want to then, you can go back to your normal training." I said waving my hand dismissively.
"N-No... I shall give it a try." Eric quickly said and I looked at Rune.
"Is it because I almost failed the mission?" He asked and Eric stared at him slightly surprised.
"No, it’s because you got hurt. I don’t want you to be hurt while going for my missions."
"You mean I can go on more missions?"
"You’re going to send him on more missions?!"
Both kids shouted at the same time and I chuckled.
"For the time being, I haven’t thought of it, but you both should learn a few of the assassin’s skills. It will be easier that way to notice if there is a danger close by or if someone is keeping an eye on you," I looked at Rune who jerked.
"I’m aiming to amalgamate the skills you learn from your knight trainers and also from the assassins. It will be the most fruitful in the long run."
The two seemed to be pondering over my words and I looked at the kids who were playing rock-paper-scissors to find out who would fight against Eric and Rune. I sipped the tea as I watched the lively atmosphere.
"Master, do... we have to ingest different kinds of poisons to grow immune to it as well?" Eric asked.
I almost choked on my tea and Kent spat out his tea as we heard his question and even Rune stared at Eric as if he’d grown an extra head.
"That’s not the kind of training here!" I squeaked coughing and Rune turned his head to the side covering his mouth to hide his laughter.
"You will know about poisons, both of you," I said making Rune stare at me.
"But, only in theory, none of you will ever injest poison and even if you do, I’ll save you." I clarified looking at both of them making them sigh with relief.
"Is there any other doubt like this?" I asked.
The two looked at each other before they looked back at the elf and dwarf kids.
"Do we have to stay here?"
"Have a taste of the training that happens here and then tell me if you’d like to stay here." I said.
*I’d like to stay here if you visit here often." Rune said with a smile.
"You did say that you will spend those
whole month with me."
Eric stared at him and then at me, I could see the veins bulging over his neck.
"You will spend a whole month with him, Master?"
"Ah, well..."
"Give me a mission as well then, Master." Eric spoke up.
"Eh?"
"Anything it is, I’ll do it!"
"Wait-"
"Please, Master!"
I sighed as I looked at Eric who seemed all worked up now.
"Fine, I will give you a mission as well." I said and Rune frowned.
"Me as well."
I could see Eric and Rune’s energy clashing and I couldn’t help but sigh. frёeωebɳovel.com
"When the time comes I’ll dispatch both of you but for now, train here."
"I will stay here as well." Eric said and I closed my eyes feeling the aching behind my eyeballs.
"Fine then, it will be like a form life for you."
"Dorm life, you mean like we do at Eden?" Rune asked.
"Yes, staying away from family and learning how to navigate life by doing things on your own. Unlike your Eden, you two will stay here and carry out the tasks that these kids do. As you can see there aren’t many servants here so, cleaning the manor, cooking, training and even growing the vegetables is also done by those kids."
"They even grow their vegetables?" Rune gasped.
"There’s a farm behind the manor!" Sylvia piped in as she came and threw her arms over my legs placing her chin on my thigh as she looked at the two boys.
"You’re too close..." Rune spoke and Sylvia giggled.
"That’s because I love our God."
Eric and Rune tilted their heads simultaneously as they looked at her.
"God?"
"Yes, Master Ocean is our God!" She cheered happily and I patted her head making her giggle.
"I’ve told you I’m not God." I said and she grinned up at me.
The kids finished their discussion and four kids stood in the front, two elves, two dwarves.
"You’re going to fight us first."
The matches were decided and the kids told me to be their judge.
"All right." I said as we shifted to the training ground.
Eric and Rune took their spots. The first fight was of Rune, I stood in my place with Kent on my one side and Sylvia and Eric on the other.
"Begin!"
Rune was given a real sword while Cyrus who was fighting him was holding twin daggers.
I watched as Cyrus shot from his place first before Rune could even react but as soon as his daggers slashed, Rune blocked them with his sword.
I watched as Cyrus swiftly rained attacks on Rune, I could see the slashes ripping his clothes off and sighed as Rune was literally kicked down.
"Cyrus wins!" I called making Rune curse out.
"Next, match begin."
Rune now faced a dwarf kid, Betty who was holding a nunchuck.
The second battle too ended with the same result and now it was Eric’s turn.
